I was shopping around for orthodontists and had high hopes for Salins Orthodontics bc of all the 5 star reviews. However, this was my third consultation appt., so I kinda knew what to expect. My interaction with Dr. Salins was extremely brief and lasted maybe 3 min max. He assessed my teeth and bite, asked what my concerns were, and then told me that I'd need extractions and then braces for 24 months. Then he had his assistant take photos of my teeth and profile. Immediately after that, Martha went over the payment details. No one looked over photos of my teeth with me or went into much detail about the treatment I'd be receiving. I'm comparing this experience to the last consults I had where there was more of a formal presentation, discussion, and even an x-ray. Everything felt very rushed here. He offered me $1500 refund to remove my comment. I am leaving my comment up here. I tried so hard to have pleasant interactions with you each time I visited. Our relationship did not start falling apart when I called Invisalign. It started far earlier than that. What made you believe I could talk to you about any of this when I brought up minor concerns and many were dismissed and untreated? For example, the comment you made on my lips and saying that it was crooked and the way you talked about "Dr. Google". I found you on Google and did extensive research on you before I came into the office for our first interaction for the consulting. Many doctors look up my medical conditions with Google. How are you unaware I have a medical condition if I am coming to these appointments with devices that help aid my mobility? You weren't aware of my hip issue? I came in a wheelchair and a walker and then a cane. I brought up my teeth edge between the Maxillary right canine and the maxillary right first premolar and you did not fix it. Mind you I went to 5 different orthodontists I found through the Google search engine, including Dr. Shen, and they all commented on the same points Dr. Shen addressed. That is when I knew it wasn't your educational background for poor lack of care. I asked peers without degrees in the dental field who agreed I had flaws. I had met a few people that went to you for braces and they commented on how their treatment process was and they said it was much longer than what you promised. Your behavior throughout the entire process drew me to the conclusion that I had to go file all these complaints. If I did not, I do not believe you would have taken any of my words seriously. First, if I hadn't complained, you would still not have apologized. You wouldn't have refunded me. You initially went with a $1k refund. All your words and actions ultimately resulted in me doing this on my end. You gave me no choice but to file all of these issues. I started with Invisalign. As issues were not resolved, I worked my way up. I taught myself how businesses run through Google, I understand you have a business to run and you need patients to hit your margins and to be running and profitable so I agreed with the insurance company that 50% would be reasonable as they gave you credit for doing the work. No one knows in your office knows because you didn't say any of this in front of them, but you and I know. I was never abrasive to you nor your team, but you can write it down as such and let's just say I was. I may sound so here as I was fed up with you. The insurance companies know. They refunded me and I won the case because I was right, as I had 5 other opinions. I understand you have a business to run and our morals and character are different. I hope all your future patients will truly get the care they need, and none of the attitude you have given me. I rather have the truth, than $1.5k. read more

Am I the only person who thinks it's super strange to have kids running around calling patients in and receiving orders from the assistants in the office? (The kids were even wearing gloves!) Went in for a consultation regarding my jaw, I understand it might have been a busy day, I felt like the doctor was rushing very much. While asking me if I have further questions, he moved slowing towards the door, and would repeat "xxxx (assistant's name) will be coming in very shortly". Just looked and felt like he needed to be somewhere else. (I ended up asking 1 question) The whole session lasted less than 5 minutes. To my surprise, I apologize in advance if I am not familiar with the steps, the other clinics that I have booked consultations at, they had been taking X-ray or pictures PRIOR to the examination. However, here, they took the pictures of my teeth at the very end of the session before the assistant explained the prices to me. What is the point of the taking the pictures at the end? If the doctor didn't even get to see them? The whole clinic and experience for me is very confusing. There were a lot of kids there, perhaps they target more towards kids? It's been 12+ months since I've finished my Invisalign treatment with Dr. Salins. I had braces as a child, but of course i didn't wear my retainer so here we are ! Minus the other three stars because after getting my sons x-rays done we ultimately decided to get the braces from an othodontist that was closer to our home since we would be having regular appointments for two years. When I called to have his x-rays and records transferred I was told that there is a $470 fee to transfer records!! That is absurd, the new orthodontist said he only charges $245 for the x-rays in the first place, so now my dilemma is do I give my 12 year old an extra dose of radiation to save $225? This is just bad business. In reply to Dr Salins, I called your office and explained my situation and I called my dentist that referred us to you and they called your office on my behalf and I was told both times to pay the $470 if I wanted his records. Had I thought emailing you personally would have helped I definitely would have tried that. Also, I wasn't told that my son needed new x-rays. You never spoke to me at the last appointment. He was taken back while I was asked to stay in the waiting room. The finance lady spoke to me and we left when my son came out of the back office. If I could give 10 stars, I would. On June 2020 I went to Dr. Salins office to fix my smile. I sat in a chair and opened my mouth and he looked in for about 10-15 seconds and told me exactly what needs to happen and how. I looked at this man and I was like what the heck he is so smart! I've went to other doctors and they told me I need to do jaw surgery and there's no way to fix my bite. I have always wanted a nice smile because I am an extrovert and I am laughing 90% of my day. Finally! We got In- And iT was an Honor to have finally meet him.
