They have tremendous inventory, sales knowledge, and an approach to customer service that you won't find at other large fly shops. Great customer service a great selection of outdoor gear / clothing. Parking is a little tight at times.

Andy Thornal is packed with neat stuff, but every time I visit I'm surprised tiny Winter Haven can sustain a store of this type. They have a nice variety of upscale clothing (check the sales room), a decent selection of camping and other outdoor gear, Boy Scout uniforms, estate jewelry, artwork, footwear, and so on, and so on. It seems as though they cannot quite settle on one specialization, but perhaps to survive in WH they had to branch out. The prices are not outlandish, but there isn't enough local competition to force them lower. The selection of outdoor gear is not enough to keep me from preferring Bill Jackson's in Pinellas Park. I've never looked at the estate jewelry but have heard it is fancy stuff. The service at Andy Thornal is marvelous. The staff knows the products and they are not pushy. We've purchased hiking shoes, Crocs, small outdoor items, and a gift certificate and recommend the store. read more

I've been shopping at Andy Thornal since 1996 (when I was in high school)! The items they carry are top notch. I love the fact that they carry a lot of items made in the USA. Bills Khakis, Leatherman Belts, Surefire flashlights! Wigwam socks, Filson, and a full line of Orvis items. They've recently started carrying Southern Tide and that's a huge plus for me. If you don't already know, Southern Tide makes the best polo shirt on the market. The best part about this store is the service. They know what they're along about here. They also go out of their way to carry cool stuff you've never heard of before. The store reminds me of what the original Abercrombie & Fitch Outfitter stores were like. High class, rugged, well made stuff...with the staff to help. I live in St Pete and certainly don't mind the drive over to vist this store a few times a year.
