I have been ordering the same concrete at Andy's for years, vanilla custard with chocolate syrup, banana and peanut butter. Today, it took the employees at Andy's in Tyler (S. Broadway) three attempts to get the concrete mixed properly, then they had the nerve to tell me that I needed to order with extra toppings to get it mixed correctly. I love Andy's! We always stop by when we come to Tyler and it never disappoints. Customer service is always great and quick. I always get two; one for now and one to freeze for the next day or two and the one I freeze is still awesome. Today I got their limited time flavor cookie butter for now and the cookie Casanova (no core/jackhammer) with peanut butter for later. The cookie butter is yummy, but only get it if you love cookie butter because it's a strong flavor. Cookie Casanova and pumpkin pie still reign supreme for me but I had to give CB a try and I don't regret it. You can go through the drive thru or go to the walk up window. Got the peach dream concrete today: no caramel, peaches were tasteless, and could not detect the malt that was supposed to be in there. I always get the stolen brownie sundae. My brownie is always warm and fudgey, the pecans are perfectly salted and roasted, and the hot fudge just brings it to utter perfection. Sometimes I add caramel when I have a hankering for that extra sweet tooth. I decided to try out one of their specials - the strawberry shortcake sundae! I love strawberries and shortcake, so obviously this was the choice! I also ended up trying Andy's banana split. By the time we got to the window, the gentleman at the register was friendly and outgoing. The service was quick and we got our orders in a matter of minutes. The shortcake in my sundae was absolutely delicious. Mixed with the sweetness of the strawberries and the vanilla custard - just a wonderful melody of flavors in my mouth! Once I got a small, when I ordered a medium, and the girl working the register lied to my face and told me it was a medium. I confronted her and said I've had a medium before, this isn't a medium. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? What an excellent dessert this was. The Boot Legger Concrete has all the essentials: vanilla custard, oreos, hot fudge, and caramel. That's it, and it doesn't need anything else. The custard is a great vessel for the rest of the goods, but as per usual with frozen custard it melts far more quickly than say a blizzard or mcflurry or what have you. Either way, delicious.
