They were kind ,caring and family oriented ! They even moved up our estimate as well as my fence install after learning that we have a 4 year old boy , with a yard that is right up against a rail road track ! First off, let me say that I had my fence installed a couple of seasons ago. I was going to write a review then, but I was so angry, I would've been spewing hatred and dissatisfaction with the company. I had taken many notes, documented phone calls (all of them) and emails, but I will cut to the chase and write my cliff notes here. As far as the estimate: I would actually give them an A+. The owner showed up on time and I promptly received my estimate. The problem came with once the deposit was made. Days turned into weeks into months. Every time I called, I was met with an excuse. I notice a trend on some reviews that somehow the poor customer service (or lack of) or product is somehow the consumers fault. At one point, I was told that my "custom gate" was on back order and still being processed. Well, I managed to contact the manufacturer of the fence and they told me "no such thing, it's been done". In any case, my major gripe and dissatisfaction come with the weeks upon weeks upon weeks of waiting for the fence install (well beyond the estimated time frame) with excuse after excuse after excuse... It got so bad, that at one point, I contacted the NJ Dept. of Consumer Affairs to seek assistance in getting things moved along. *They were helpful, but I decided to "wait it out several more weeks"....in which case the fence was finally complete. *of note, weather was not a factor in getting this done AND this had all taken place PRE-COVID (so no excuses). As far as the product: I would give it a B. We have received many complements on the fence and gate; however, the gate did roll off its hinges during two separate wind storms. I emailed Anello fence and was told they would get back to me. They never did get back to me... (no phone call, text or email). In summary, I would not use this company again although the fence and gate are quite sturdy and look great. Unfortunately, the lack of customer service and unreliability outweigh the "good" of the overall experience. Now, I am interested in seeing the response to this review and the lack of accountability of of this company. Visited the showroom and selected the fence style. The owner came to our home with a sample of the fence we selected and took the measurements. The estimate arrived with a drawing of the job and a description of the fence we selected. When I called to contract for the work the price increased 20%!. When questioned about it the reply was the fence we selected was a more expensive style. We reminded Anello that the fence was the same one we picked at the showroom, the same one as the sample brought to our home and the same as was described in the estimate. Their response was it was ONLY AN ESTIMATE , if we want the work done the price is higher. Not how I like to do business so we DIDN'T! read more

Steve mislead me to believe he was going to fix the uneven install of a few aluminum panels along the right side of my yard that were crammed downward to meet the panels along the back of my yard. I brought the high/low panels to the attention of the workers immediately and spoke to Steve. Since they were working in December and it is dark when the job was done at 6 pm, Steve told me he would fix it in the spring. In March, I started to call him to resolve the problem and after 2 months he said he could fix it for $1,200. Not the customer service nor the response I expected. He said they followed the landscape, but that is just a lie. It was very clear that I wanted a gradual decline, not low/high/low. read more

Started the process with these people in December. Needed a double gate installed. Finally in March, they did it. HOWEVER, They only did one new gate and used the old broken one that doesn't even match. After showing photos of the workmanship, I was told they would correct it right away and it was embarrassing for them the way it was done. Well here we are in June and after making numerous calls, not receiving call backs and when I did, promises made to come out by the end of the week to fix it. I guess the week never ends!! Steve came to our house immediately to give the quote and the installation was done earlier than expected at a good price. If I could give zero stars I would. We placed an order a year ago. For 12 months my husband constantly called to ask for the missing pieces of the fence they owed us (a gate, a few posts and post caps). Each time he called it was a roll of the dice. If he was lucky, someone would call back.. and give him some excuse; they moved offices, this guy no longer works here, they were on vacation, the manufacturer in Buffalo was closed due to snow, the materials arrived damaged .. You name it - they had a lame excuse every time. We had prepaid for the materials and ultimately lost out on $400 worth of fence because we had no choice but to go elsewhere. we needed a fence for our pool and our dog! The new fence company we used mentioned that they had several complaints about Anello, not to our surprise. They took our money and treated my husband like he was a fool. Such a disgrace. Steve I read your reply here and on Facebook (which was completely untrue) - shame on you for blaming my contractor when both he and my husband followed up with Anello SEVERAL times. Wow, At the beginning of the year I could have sworn this company had top reviews (See yellow pages!!). Signed not only 1 contractor with them, but a 2nd one before the work began. Boy did i regret it. Not only did they take forever to get the work started, but horrible work. They tried scamming be with my gates. They sent two flimsy fence panels and tried to pawn it off as real aluminum gates which I'm glad the installers left without payment because 3 days later the gates were warped and touching the floor. I expected to get professional work and got garbage. Not only that, but the people answering the phones have the worst service ever. Put you on hold, promise calls backs and give you lies about installation dates. I ended up working with the owner Steve Anello and even the owner was the worst to work with. Gave me attitude about me not wanting to pay full amount because they promised me aluminum post inserts and instead filled it with concrete. I called them back to come back and finish the job since one of the posts now are falling over and still have never heard from them again. STAY AWAY FROM THEM I BEG YOU!!! In my particular case, I requested that the fence was installed in the same way as another one in the neighborhood. When I realized they were not while and after the installation and asked them to change, they were rude, evasive and asked for significant extra money. Contracted to replace my old board on board cedar fence with new vinyl fencing, over 150 feet of fence.. The old fence was taken down and removed and the new fence installed within 2 days. I love the new fence and when I had an issue come up several months later, with an end cap missing he had a gentleman there the same day to rectify the issue.. The installers were very professional and the entire process was a pleasure. highly recommend Anello Fence. read more

When we made our 2nd deposit for ALL MATERIALS on 9/21/21 we paid for ALL MATERIALS.They showed up a few weeks later and installed a few pieces, we then ended up waiting to hear when they would be back. They showed up late or not at all. The project started in October we were now in December and we would have to contact them several times with no response back. After many weeks they told us they would be coming back on Friday 12/10. They never showed up and never told me they weren't coming. I emailed them asking when are they going to finish the job, a week later they responded with a new date and told us the final 2 pieces arrived damaged, so that Friday 12/10 when they were supposed to come they lied about having the final materials. They just told us they were coming to shut us up. We were also informed that the final $500 fee was owed but they couldn't apologize to us for all of the incidents of lying to us or barely getting back to us. When they finally came to finish the job my husband asked Steve Anello if a door can be moved he said yes and if any additional parts are needed he would charge us. The lead crew guy moved the door in less than 10 minutes and didn't need any additional parts. Steve contacted us the next day demanding that we owe me $100 for moving the door. He would call me several times a day from different phone numbers and blocked numbers.He showed up at our house announced to collect the $100 that we shouldn't be charged for m. At this point he was HARRASING us. He threatened to take us to court. Please keep in mind it has only been a few days since the job was completed and he was going crazy to collect the $100. My husband paid him so he would leave us alone. Also they don't do a good job our fence doors have to be held open with a rock in our driveway. Had a fence put in my Anello a few years ago. From the beginning the latches did not work properly. The owner sent out someone to fix them 3 times! 3 times!!!! They would work for approximately 2 months then break again. It should be noted that the latches aren't overused. We come in and out of the house via the front door and rarely use the gates. Now there are bungee cords holding them closed! If I knew this before hand I would have went with another fence company...especially if you have a dog or a pool for obvious safety reasons. read more

Steve's comment is both inaccurate and misses the point so I need to update. I am not upset about the work being completed three days after their six week time estimate. The work was completed more than 11 weeks after our deposit was cashed and a six week timeframe was agreed upon. (Where three days comes from is unclear). So after months of fighting our town to have them issue a permit for a privacy fence for our backyard (really long story), I now have to battle Steve (the owner) and Anello Fence; allow me to explain: Let me first preface by saying that this has been an ongoing saga since February, and it's now almost June. Back in June of 2017, we contacted Anello after someone recommended them to us. That was our first mistake unfortunately. An Anello representative, Nick, came out to give us a quote. The important thing to note here is that we told Nick that we wanted gothic-style endcaps on the top of the six-foot vinyl privacy fence. We finally got clearance from our town to install the fence in late January 2018 (again, really long story), and Anello Fence came out to install the fence on Feb. 16. The job went into the next day and was completed on Feb. 17. At the end of the job, I noticed that Steve's workers failed to install Gothic endcaps that we told Nick about and they instead installed standard endcaps. Steve was there and I told him about that and he said that he would have to come back at a later date to replace the standard with the Gothic endcaps since he didn't have them in stock. Okay, fine. However, knowing that many contractors can easily be a special breed of you know what, I made sure to write on the contract "will replace current endcaps with Gothic endcaps" and I had Steve initial that. And I'm sure you can guess what happens from here. Basically, this guy, Steve, has been blowing me off since February. I've sent him multiple emails regarding the endcaps and here are some of the response from this piece of work: 03/07/2018: "No. We haven't been working with the snow. Please check back with me next week." 03/20/2018: "we haven't been working much with the snow. should be getting delivery soon and will change the caps for you." 03/27/2018: "i expect the caps to come in any day now. as soon as i get them i will change them for you." 05/16/2018: "i will get them swapped out withing the next few days." The typical contractor avoidance pattern is so blatantly obvious here that it's disgusting. And this aside from the phone calls I've made to him in which he says that he'll get my endcaps installed "soon." It's nothing but excuse after lame excuse from this guy. Of course, he now has my money and no motivation to do what he is contractually obligated to do. Typical contractor. It's so easy to blow me off, isn't it, Steve? Wrong, my friend. You forget that you're under contract to install the correct endcaps. I'm not a lawyer, but here is what I do know: I have a contract in writing saying that you are obligated to perform service X. You fail to perform service X. You are now in violation of said contract, and I now have the right to sue you for breach of contract. Plain and simple. And that is exactly what I'm going to do. And I will also lodge a complaint with the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs regarding this incident, and will request that they investigate Anello Fence as a whole. I mean, this is your cliched sleazy contractor story and the cliche is nothing short of disgusting. It's so sad that it had to resort to this. I hope it was worth blowing me off for nearly four months for something that was so simple on your end. It was a horrible experience as it is fighting through my town's BS bureaucracy for over six months just to even get this fence installed, and now I have to deal with the likes of you, Steve, adding insult to injury. Honestly, your state license should revoked seeing this is how you treat a paying customer. read more

The worst company you can choose. If your expectations are low you'd be in the right place. The customer is never right here. The friendliest greeting you'll get is at your first visit and estimate, once they have your money they no longer care. Don't expect delivery on time but do expect to have the delivery dates and product availability changed more than once (or in the case of friends they may just show up on a random day with no warning at all). Phone calls will not be returned, complaints and issues will not be addresses and many vague statements if not outright lies will be said by the staff usually pushing the problem back onto the customer. read more

I had a lot of 6ft privacy fence installed around my property about a year ago. Unfortunately, the adjoining property owner has this strip of land that is not maintained despite my reports to the city. Of course, a thick tree branch crashed through a section of my brand new fence. I asked for a quote and Anello gave me one which was higher than expected. The adjacent property owner stalled about paying it saying it was inflated and asked if maybe I can buy the parts and he can have a tenant of his property (landscaping and design co.) install it. I did ask Anello few times so I can avoid small claims court. No answer anymore. In the next few months, the next door's plowing company landslided the snow into another section of fence. So I asked Anello yet again, updating him of the situation. No answer. Thus, I was left to find my own parts to try and stay out of small claims court. I really wish they would've have helped a recent customer out all things considered. I wish I would've known any followup interaction would be like this for an all cash paying customer. All I needed was a top rail, bottom rail and 4-5 slats. My "new" fence is still broken at 2 sections as I write this review but at least the fence is straight. As a property adjuster in New Jersey, I frequently have exposure to the insureds who have fence claims from vehicle damage, windstorm etc. In past years, I found Anello to be relatively reputable and priced fairly. As such I would direct people who needed direction. I'm sorry to report that upon calling for pricing on privacy slats for an insured who suffered fence damage from a tree fall, I was met on my call with a rude woman who I hope is not a principal of the company. When she found that I was looking for pricing to be used for a current claim and not necessarily a job they could secure, she was not interested in providing me with any info. on what we might expect to pay for the slats. If fact, I was amazed that a company in business as long as Annello would have someone tell me bluntly that "they don't do that" and hung upthe phone on me. Really leaves one feeling they are unprofessional and to look to do business with someone else. ..Not another recommendation Anello. read more

The men did the job and I checked before they left and explained it wasn't what I wanted but they basically said too bad and left. I called and left messages. I figured I would add to all the negative reviews as well. Although it has been 10 years I still notice what a horrible job this company did at my house. First of all I did not get what I ordered. I was shown a picture of a wooden fence from his catalog, I found out later that Anello just matched what I chose with a fence that is made of inferior wood. To top it all off he subbed out the installation job to a company that had pretty much no idea what to do. Thank god I was home. I chose Anello because I knew that they had been in business for years. 14 weeks later they have yet to complete the work that they promised dispite the fact that I told the salesman I would not quibble about price all I wanted was for them to do the job correctly and to have it done by Memorial Day. Now (July 6) the work is still not complete and they want to give me a small credit instead of completing the work not done. I would never use them again. read more

Steve said that the fence was going to be top quality with virtually no maintenance as well as installed in 2-3 weeks, In fact it took months for the actual installation and the installers were a different company all together when I asked the men installing my fence why I wasn't getting Anello Fence workers the work crew told me that Anello fence never installs its own fences and that Steve uses other local companies to do the work for him, so now I know he uses subcontractors, the fence is falling apart in places and already fading after only one season. HORRIBLE SERVICE. We set up a free estimate and got a price, no problem. The bid was the lowest of the other fence companies we called, so we put down a deposit on the spot. Several weeks go by, we try to set up an appointment but no one ever answered the phone. Someone showed up one day out of the blue to add black chain link gates to our white chain link fence! If my husband hadn't happened to be home for lunch that day, the poor installation man (who was very nice and friendly) would have installed the wrong color gates. Thankfully, the man went back to the warehouse to get the right gates. The new white fence was made of lower quality materials so we didn't pay him for the original higher quote. Once we didn't pay, we certainly heard from the owner the next day. We paid our original bill, less I think about $75. What a poorly run company! I can't understand why anyone with no business sense would try to run a business. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. read more

This was a really bad all around experience. It started out with the salesperson (Nick) having little knowledge of the details of the project such as how far from the property line the fence would be installed and how long the job would take. Regretfully, we took his word that all questions would be answered as they seemed to have a decent presence in the area, and they beat the other estimates. After taking our deposit, there was little to no communication for three weeks and when I called their offices, the receptionist gave me the same "I don't know" and runaround responses indicated by a another reviewer. I kept asking for someone else to talk to but continually got pushed back on the same woman until one day with no warning they just showed up to install the fence. The workers proceeded to tell my wife there were bushes (thin & almost dead) in the way of the proposed fence line, which their boss said they couldn't move without more money. After a heated argument with one of the owners, who finally got on the phone after more than a half dozen attempts to get him, we agreed they would remove the bushes, which I ended up doing myself to blow off steam as I was so pissed off when I got home. Then they started the fence too far up one side of the property throwing a good part of the fence line off. They also went too close to the other neighbor's property on the other side, pissing off my new neighbor. Finally, after two days of work they ran out of materials because they screwed up the scope of the job. After more calls with another owner and the useless receptionist, they returned two more weeks later to finish. At that point the head worker and I had to make a side deal to move four posts that were well off (~6 feet) our property line per their original screw up, which the owner refused to fix. I wanted them gone at this point. Ultimately, we have the new fence but the lines are still a bit off. I SAY UNLESS YOU WANT A LIVING NIGHTMARE FOR A FEW MONTHS, DON'T USE ANELLO FENCE. I want to clarify that this low mark is not a reflection of the product or installation we received from Anello Fence. It is due to the total lack of customer service I received by the woman in the front office today. We had our pool fence installed by Anello several years ago...at least ten years ago. Recently we lost our key to the gate latch (which I assume happens to people periodically). Since it's the beginning of summer and we are getting things ready it's annoying to say the least :). I decided to stop at Anello since they installed the fence to see if they could at least point me the right direction to obtain a new key or provide some advice. I took pictures of my latch and had the name of the latch company. When I walked in the place was empty except a woman in the front showroom. I explained "We lost our keys, the fence was installed at least 10 years ago, here is the name of the company, is there any way you could help me?" She just chucked and said..."How would I know? All the locks are different now...even if it was in the last 5 years. I guess it's time to BUY NEW LATCHES for your gate?" I said "well do you have any info or would someone be familiar with the company Magna-Latch that I coud contact? What do people do if they lose keys?" She literally put her hands up in the air and said..."I told you! I would have no idea...How would I know?" I then had to ask..."Well have you even heard of Magna-Latch? I have a picture of the gate and the latch?" With that she got up...went in the back to look up something and said..."no I can't help you". I said thank you...drove to Forever Fence (2 minutes down the road) who DIDNT EVEN install my fence and they said 'no problem...of course we know Magna-Latch...we can order you a set of keys and they most likely will replace them for you for FREE'. I don't usually take the time to write reviews but this woman was...well...not nice. AT ALL. Plain and simple. I didn't expect her to even solve my problem...I just expected someone to at least say..."Sorry this happened...I'm not familiar with that company because it's been awhile but let me look into it and see if I can find out some info for you. Maybe the owner may have a solution or recommendation." NADA...just a grump. We like our fence...it held up well but I would recommend Forever Fence right down the road in a heartbeat if this is the way Anello deals with their customers.
