I tried to explain the requirements and show the relevant information, but instead of taking the time to properly review my documents or verify the SSA's own guidance, she simply rejected them and sent me home. It is extremely frustrating when people come to a government office prepared with the documents they were instructed to bring, only to be turned away because an employee is not familiar with the agency's own requirements. If you claim to be an expert, you should at least be familiar with the policies published on your own agency's website.

When I called the fire dept's billing office to explain this, an extremely rude representative started yelling at me about how they had already billed the insurance company and started demanding immediate payment. I had to repeat myself multiple times before she finally understood me. Two weeks later, they sent me a final notice bill. Really? You get to spend a year and a half f******* around and then don't even give me 30 days to pay? I understand that emergencies happen, but just be prepared for a headache when the bill arrives.

The two most important things to know is that the car seat installation is free and you need to call to make an appointment. You can install the car seat yourself ahead of time and then have them check or have assistance from start to finish. When you arrive try to park in a spot where no one is next to the side of the car that you want the car seat installed on. What I appreciated the most as a first time Mom is that this wasn't just a car seat install. There was so much helpful and important information shared with me that I wouldn't have gotten had I decided to install on my own. Plus, most car seat installations are not correct so this gives me such a piece of mind to know that my baby will be safe.
