Where to begin....hmmmmm....HIRE THIS WOMAN NOW!!! I came across Hilda's work on Facebook. I NEVER look at ads on FB, but something about Hilda's picture caught my eye. Her favorite color to use for an accent is red, so is mine. She doesn't do campy wedding photos, unless requested. She takes the time to get to know you as a couple, and is very patient with grooms. She will have you jumping up and down, lying on the grass and twirling like a 5 year old, if you want. As a bride, I did not want to follow the cookie cutter formula of wedding pictures. I am happy to report, that as of 10/10/10, my wedding was everything I dreamed of and Hilda and Carol (her assistant) had a lot to do with this. Hilda was always in contact with me. I sent her shots that I wanted to try and when she arrived on my wedding day she had printed all of the requested shots out and reminded me of what I had wanted. I was blown away by her attention to detail. WARNING: not every photographer will do this. Photographer was at the very top of our list of importance for our wedding. My husband and I met with a few highly regarded photographers but we never felt any sort of connection with them. We tend to eat, shop, and play at places that have memorable people working in them. Our photographer couldn't be an exception to this. She asked us questions about what we were looking for, let us look through multiple books with samples of her photography, and then just simply talked with us. Hilda - LOVE her to pieces! I discovered Hilda through my cousin that had friends use her as their wedding photographer. I fell in love with her work immediately and just appreciated her creative eye. First things first. When it comes to wedding photography, start to finish, Hilda Burke is absolutely FANTASTIC. I would use and recommend her again in a heartbeat. We knew we wanted to book our wedding photographer well in advance (about ten months out)...after venue and guest list, it was the biggest, most integral of our wedding decisions. I am so grateful we found Hilda and that she was able to photograph our wedding day--especially considering it was her own wedding anniversary!! PLANNING PHASE: When my (now) husband and I had our initial meeting with her, Hilda asked us so many questions about our relationship, our lives, and our needs and wants for our wedding photos. She also took the time (an hour and a half) to meet with me and my mom to cover final details a month or so before our wedding. This really put my mom's mind at ease (a big bonus many of you brides who've gone through weddings know). COST: For Hilda's extreme level of talent, her work is absolutely worth every penny. I looked at many photographers' work prior to finding Hilda, and her photos speak for themselves. She was even willing to work with us to reasonably add an assistant photographer and an extra hour to our package. DAY OF WEDDING: Hilda and her assistant Carol arrived during our getting-ready process the morning of the wedding an hour early. They proceeded to immediately begin getting a lay of the land, introducing themselves to everyone, and taking my dress outside to photograph in a beautiful backyard setting. The team helped to herd our wedding party and family through the hectic photo session at and post-church, then went with us on a 40-person bus to take photos around the city and lakefront. Hilda knew exactly what she was doing and really took some unique and gorgeous photos of our group. She also found some very unusual and special shots for my husband and I at our reception venue, The W City Center. During toasts, she shushed talking guests for us (thank you Hilda!!) and was literally down on the floor to capture special moments for us. When she and Carol were ready to leave, they checked with my husband and I, as well as my mom, to make sure they hadn't missed any must-take photos. Even after they said their goodbyes to us, I saw Hilda taking more photos! OVERALL EXPERIENCE: Hilda is consistently thorough, talented, creative, exuberant, and just exudes an excitement and true passion for her work and those she's photographing. She is absolutely a class-act in every aspect. While I've only seen a sample of our finished photos, I could not be more excited and eager to write Hilda a rave review. Our first experience with Angel Eyes Photography was just before my husband deployed with the military. I wanted lots of pictures to show my daughter. Where to start? Hilda and her assistant Carol basically saved my wedding! They were truly a pleasure to be with all day and it would have been a disaster without them. We first worked with Hilda on our engagement shoot (a MUST, even for camera shy folks, you will SO appreciate capturing those moments later on!). She made us feel comfortable and even allowed us to bring our 150 pound dog (who brought my husband and I together) to the shoot. She basically danced around my husband, dog and I for a couple hours and what a spectacular playfulness she captured! I will cherish those photos and memories of our puppy "matchmaker" for all of time. The day of the wedding, Hilda and Carol arrived bright and early (ahead of their scheduled arrival time mind you!) and started clicking away all of my pretty bridesmaids and the goings-on at the venue. They were quick to notice picture-worthy moments and wouldn't hesitate to tell a family member to hold up so they could be sure to get the good shot (although most of the time they were stealth and were able to sneak in and around. Both Carol and Hilda had go with the flow type personalities throughout the day but Hilda was the one person to ask if I had everything I needed and remind my "bride-frizzled mind" to make sure I had my phone, veil, gum, deodorant and various other VERY IMPORTANT items when we left each and every room. Serious shout out to Hilda there...I know I am not the only bride to float through the day and leave a trail of "can't forget" items everywhere. My husband and I planned on having our ceremony on the roof in front of the gorgeous Chicago skyline (key word planned), so when mother nature decided at the last minute to throw a crazy hell storm of rain, wind and lightning our way, Hilda and Carol were right there beside me assisting in re-planning, adjustments and even snapped my husband and I up to do some impromptu location photos during our unscheduled down-time. Hilda is a leader and as a couple who could not afford having a day-of wedding planner, she sure did take that role for us! I could not be more thankful for her strength and her absolute quick thinking to take advantage of moments I could have spent dissolving into a puddle of disappointment. She kept me focused on the things that matter, my family and my new husband. I can't believe I have written this much without even mentioning how incredible of a photographer she is! Having a bachelor's degree in photography, I should know! She is a wiz at lighting and capturing the feeling of single moments. At one point during the night she pulled my husband and I back onto the roof (it had stopped raining) and while Carol expertly held a light behind us she snapped away at the lovely night skyline that I had dreamed of for all of the days before. Hilda is also great at corralling family members and organizing group photos. Our family is large and there are plenty of wanders so that was a true blessing. She is also firm, but not mean when it comes to getting people's attention and setting up good placement. I loved her aggressiveness and ability to control situations. PEOPLE. Hilda is the absolute best! The first time my now husband and I met her, we knew she was a perfect fit.
