I move around a lot. Almost every year I pack my belongings, put them in a truck and go looking for adventures to new locations and find a new place to live. With every move comes a need to buy new things and this store used to be my to-go -to place for rugs, for one big reason. Prices. I usually need something that will last a year or so in a new apartment, look nice but nothing fancy that will lay around and gather dust for years to come. Angel's rugs was perfect for that. This shop sells very similar inventory that other places around downtown and the fashion district area do but I always loved the fact that I could come in, do some bargaining and leave this place with a couple of excellent rugs for very good prices. Easy. Since the store changed location it is no longer the case unfortunately. They now have very similar prices to local HomeGoods, World Market and now there's absolutely no reason for me to drive to that $#!& hole DTLA, where my wife was literally afraid to step out of the car. It's obvious that these guys are trying hard to grow their business further from that small room at the previous location. Staying in downtown and moving to even a worst neighborhood was an idea that's far from the best, in my opinion though. I stopped by this year, tried buying a few rugs but after the owners refused to lower the price from 3-$400+ dollars, I had no choice but to go to, what used to be their old location and buy two rugs from their neighbours at Trims and rugs. Sorry guys. I know that in business it's very difficult to recover from a lower price tier once everyone knows you as a bargain place to purchase things. I truly desire you to achieve the level of success that your whole family is aiming for but raising prices and staying in the same neighborhood where people go for one and the only reason, to look for bargains is going to be difficult, to say the least. Good luck. I plan to keep stopping by once in awhile to see how the store is growing and maybe, hopefully score a deal sometime. read more

Great place to buy rugs! My friend and I stopped by after reading great Yelp reviews and they truly didn't disappoint. Everyone was so friendly and helpful from the moment we walked in. They take rugs down and lay them on the floor for you. Once I found my winner, we had a lovely little photoshoot documenting the moment lol and the salesperson was so patient letting us enjoy the experience. 5 HUGE STARS for service, selection, and insanely affordable prices!! I went to another rug store that had the most reviews right next-door to Angel Rugs and they didn't have what I was looking for plus they were in a hurry to close so luckily I decided to drop by Angel's since it was a few doors down. Alex, who is the owner's son, was really helpful and showed me a ton of styles. When he didn't have what I wanted he suggested several other stores across the street but warned me that they would be very expensive. Come to find out I shopped at the other rug store before and found out that I bought a $500 rug from him that was only worth $100. I also bought a $400 rug from him at the same time and it should've just been $150 at max. I totally got gypped! Alex wrote down my style and said that he would call his warehouse on Monday and let me know. Since I didn't hear from him I called him today and decided to come down. He's always attentive and never complains about having to open the rugs from their plastic covers or pull out as many as you need and open them up, unlike all the other shops that give you a nasty look when you decide you don't like something you asked to open. I found this amazing gorgeous rug that's even better than what I initially wanted. He gave me the most incredible deal and this rug is so fluffy and so soft and I got it for dirt cheap! Many of the other stores will not budge on price and so they lose a lot of customers. Alex is a young guy so he knows his stuff and he's very eager to make tons of recommendations, as at times we may not know what we want until we see it. I highly recommend Angel's Rugs for anyone looking for very high-quality, fast service, great selection, and an incredible deal! I also posted how they rolled the rug in a wheel shape whuch turned out to be a God send because it allowed me to roll it right into the house without carrying it up flights of stairs as it's really heavy! I've bought two rugs from them in the last couple of weeks, having searched around LA for stores that sell inexpensive but quality looking area rugs. Helpful staff, not pushy, which was not the case at a few other places I visited. A nice variety of area rugs, though I wish they had even more bigger ones (8x10 and above). When my cousin told me about this store, I didn't believe him. I had to see it for myself. I've been researching and looking for a rug for the past three months (I'm really picky). I'm talking about places like Pottery Barn, West Elm, Macy's, Dwell, Z Gallerie, Crate & Barrel, Urbanism, and Design Within Reach. I almost gave up and was going to pay the outrageous prices that these stores demanded because the less expensive stores did not have what I wanted. As soon as we entered the narrow store, I was surprised at the amount of rugs, bedding, and curtains/drapes that were housed in this place. What was even more shocking were the prices and the quality of the rugs. I felt like I won the lottery going in here. Not only did they have a wide variety of styles but the staff there were extremely considerate and helpful. I bought my 8x10 rug (RUG OF MY DREAMS!) for a fraction of the price I would have paid at the high-end retailers. I really couldn't believe that they had this gorgeous felt wool pebble rug (retails for over $1,000 depending on the size). Honestly, I don't know how they stay in business with prices like this. The owner's son was also showing me leggings. Yes, y'all. Leggings. A few weeks ago, I was at the fashion district and bought a pair for $20 thinking it was a deal. But no. Omid had an assortment of them: tribal (very popular these days), patterns, and animal print. No pressure from the staff working there and more than willing to help me look for anything that I needed or wanted to see. Thank you Baba for being so kind and generous. He was very charismatic and more than willing to help, We explained what we were looking for and he walked us to the an area of "vintage rugs". My wife saw a dark red, hand made Persian rug, it was amazing! I love that it is hand made, the fact that some person or persons took the time to create this excited me. Every time I've shopped in the fabric district for rugs I end up doing a lap around the 5 or so rug shops on the block, only to return to Angel Rugs because they have the most appealing and unique rugs (a lot of the stores carry all the same stuff), and the best bargains. Get in good with them and ask if there are any handwoven rugs they don't have hanging. Occasionally they'll have one-of-a-kinds. You can walk away with a genuine antique rug for a really amazing price with a little bit of back and forth. I much prefer shopping here and being able to bargain with the owners and feel the rugs than shop online at somewhere like overstock. read more

Be aware. The prices are affordable, but you get what you pay for. We got a shaggy rug from these guys and it started coming apart shortly thereafter. When we called them to ask if it was defected, they explained that we are not allowed to vacuum it because it will pull out the threads. We'll let me ask you, fellow customer- would you want a run in your home that you were only allowed to vacuum with a handheld attachment, especially a shag rug that absorbs dust and degree like no other? Nope. Spend a little more and get something of higher quality that will last longer. A second rug we got that isn't a shag rug is slowly coming apart as well, only a couple months after purchase, so I wouldn't expect it to last more than a year. It's really a shame both for the time and money spend, as well as for the waste created by having to throw out the first one and soon the second. Needless to say, we've learned our lesson. read more

Be careful, you might think you got the best deal, think twice. They are pushy and friendly during the process, so you might feel obligated to make the purchase, but don't be fooled. They told me they gave me the best deal, when I got home, I check their own website, the same rugs I got actually cost $30 less than the "best discount" they offered me. I went back to return the rugs, they said they don't take exchange and refund, even though the price I paid was more than they advertised. It's against the state law. They eventually let me return the rugs after I threatened to take them to court. Be careful. read more

Went in with my husband since we are looking for two large rugs, we browsed the inventory and saw a few possibilities but nothing I had to have, quoted us $175 each carpet... but said he'd do $150 each if we bought right now... we kept browsing and the owner started saying how he makes no money and how customers don't pay anymore just a whole bunch of nonsense as we kept browsing... after a few minutes again I tell my husband let's get going, again he stops us and says "oh you want to leave?! Don't leave they will Charge you way more next door" and says any carpet even the $400 carpets I'll do for $50!! I looked at my husband and told him "we have nothing to lose at that price" and decided to pick two of them out. after choosing the carpets and looking around he then says "I'll do $150 for both" I was so confused by idiotic behavior and unprofessionalism! Every customer got a different price! I would hear him say $200 to some and then $150 to another for the same carpet! And when they would say no he would go the old "well how much you want to pay?!" Beyond disappointed. I have been buying rugs here for well over 2 years. I have brought MANY new clients to this place. Yesterday I bought a new rug to go under my dining table, I asked both the owner and another employee that If the size didn't work for me that I could come back and return the rug. They both agreed and said that was fine. Today I called saying the rug size didn't work and that I was coming in to return it. The owner lied and then told me over the phone that he wasn't even there yesterday and that he doesn't allow returns according to his policy which he said NOTHING ABOUT when I was in person there just yesterday! For a business owner to lie and try to cover it up is absolute BS. Not to be trusted. Go somewhere else.
