In all three of our events, Millicent displayed a strong passion and vision through her creativity and organizational and professional skills. For the most part, we provided her with our own ideas and locations. In areas where we needed suggestions, she was quick to provide and improvise. We provided a general schedule for our events to ensure we do not go overtime. Millicent was on top of the schedule and did not rush the process even when we went slightly overtime with the engagement photo shoot due to the gloomy, rainy weather and busy weekend traffic. In fact, she remain composed and was dedicated to taking the best shot at the best angle even if it meant she had to get drenched in the rain. Last but not least, Millicent was very punctual in responding to our e-mails. I was a pest and e-mailed her with multiple questions that included what is the most ideal time of the day to take pictures, logistics, number of locations, etc. Her responses were so detailed and to-the-point that it put me at ease, letting me know we put our pictures in the right person's hands.

Millie offered the most value and quality for the money by far, so she was the obvious choice. She and I talked over the phone to get the whole concept of what exactly we were going for. She took my ideas and helped guide me through my vision. It was a huge help, because I wasn't exactly sure what I was looking for. The day that we were supposed to have our photoshoot, it looked like it was going to rain. Millie called me and offered to do it the next day and made it seem like it wasn't a big deal to reschedule. She didn't want our outdoor photoshoot to be ruined by the rain. I wanted to take pictures in front of various Chicago landmarks, and name each of the tables at our reception after these locations. As a comedian, it's important to have a smattering of pictures to be used for posters, online ads,…read moredartboards, etc. But as a non-photogenic person, I have been plagued since my first yearbook photo with the inability to get a decent picture, even when professional photographers and high-end equipment were involved. I had the good fortune of meeting Ting at a Yelp event. I noticed her taking pictures with a nice Canon dSLR, so I figured I'd ask if she takes headshots and might be able to help me out. She told me to look at her stuff on flickr and get in touch with her. I took a look a few days later, and was blown away by both her photos and her creative Photoshop work. I got in touch, and it was on. Ting was very accommodating in that she asked me for as much input as I could give in order to get what I wanted out of our shoot, but not to the point of making me feel like I had to provide input even if I didn't have the slightest clue of what I was talking about. We went to a few spots I had picked in my neighborhood, and then we walked around and Ting found a few others. As you can tell from the 5-star review, the shots came out well. It had to do with several factors - Ting's skillful use of her EOS 5D, our finding the right spots to shoot, and shooting at the right time of day. Perhaps most importantly, Ting offered very helpful input during the shots to help me pose. Remember what I said about not being photogenic? It's always due to weird facial expressions or positioning of my body. I know there are plenty of shots that weren't usable because of this; but Ting was patient and helped me get it right. So now, thanks to Ting, I have some headshots that I can send to bookers, some other fun shots for my website, and a really cool multilayer image that Ting put together from several of the pictures we took. Her rates are reasonable and I am looking forward to working with her more in the future. As a creative person, one of the hardest things about hiring other professionals to fulfil your vision is that not many, if any, can live up to your expectations. This is why Ting Photography and Design was a no-brainer for us. I've seen her work evolve over time, from spectacular, to straight-up awe-inspiring, so having her as our wedding photographer felt more like us being the lucky ones to have been able to have her services, than the other way around :-) There are a lot of factors involved in shooting, beyond just a fancy camera and accessories. From composition, lighting and color grading, to understanding when to/not to overuse post processing effects; these are a few of the tenets of a creative/professional photographer, and Ting excels at all of these. For our wedding, my wife and I wanted both the ceremony and the receptions to feel organic and not staged. The last things we wanted was a coordinator and photographer running around freaking out trying to corral guest for that perfect shot (when we're just trying to enjoy one another's company before we all fly back to our respective corners of the country). I'm sure some prefer their photographer being more commanding, but for an outdoor wedding we wanted the photos to compliment both the setting and the vibe of the wedding - basically, she made sure to get the obligatory wedding party photos out of the way, and then spent the rest of the time capturing the real feel of the party, along with some of the coolest moments from the wedding that the bride and groom are just not able to experience (seeing as you're running around getting' married and all). Now, just because our wedding was a casual outdoor affair, it doesn't mean that Ting isn't capable of working a more traditional one. On the contrary, i've seen her work (which led me to hire her) on some large-scale wedding that required a lot more pre-planning and day-of preparations, and she straight-up crushed it! From your engagement shoot, to the final wedding photo, you and your partner will have a branded wedding, and a set of photos that not only fill a virtual photo album, but will also tell the story of your journey together. Take it form me, i'm a picky dude who questions everyone's artistic abilities (which is why i've never pulled the trigger on a tattoo), but man, this girl is gifted. Whether you go with Ting Photography and Design, or not, make sure that your photographer is - like Ting - an artist first, and a photographer a close second. Becky knew all the spots to take great photos. I was beyond impressed with her knowledge of lighting, motion shooting, portraits and most of all capturing candid moment between my fiance and me. When we received our photo DVD I couldn't stop looking at them. Immediatelly I ordered photos to give out as gifts for my shower, some to put up at the wedding, made a guest book etc etc. We received so many compliments of the photos that were displayed at our house and our reception. My aunt can't stop gushing about the photo I sent as a thank you for coming to the shower. Becky captured our true fun loving nature. It was amazingly easy working with Becky, she made us fee at ease and we hit it off from the start. When our wedding day rolled around I was beyond extatic to work with Becky again. She came EARLY and ready to work. She shot me getting ready, coming out of the house, in the limo...during the ceremony Becky and her assistant were quiet and professional. After the ceremony she captured all the poses I requested including a big group shot with all of our guests! She directed our guests and us and was very efficient and timely. In every picture she's taken of my son, I'm amazed at how well she captures his personality. Nailing a shot of a toddler running through the woods? No problem. She's also game for doing whatever it takes to get a great shot - getting down on the ground so she's on my toddler's level, putting a cow on her head to make him laugh, balancing somewhere precarious to get just the right angle. Three points bothered me about using Tipping Point. 1. Not terribly creative. Liz didn't have much in the way of suggestions on how to make our photos fun and interesting. She gave us some nice locations, but beyond that, "Okay, smile!" was about all we got. Most of the "fun" pics we got were things we thought up ourselves. 2. Byzantine, paranoid (in my opinion) legal releases. Liz is very concerned that someone is going to steal her work. "Photos shared in public fora (e.g. Facebook) must be the low resolution, watermarked versions! Photos (of *my* kids) cannot be used in 'cutest baby' contests!" Where I might have become an advocate for her work, the coercive nature of her contract is such that I am inclined not to share the photos online at all. We did not have this much legal baggage with our wedding photographer, who did much more (and much better) work for us. 3. Late on delivery. Liz told us after the shoot that it would be a "couple of weeks" before we got the pics because she had a trip planned. We told her that was fine. After the two weeks were up and I emailed her to check on progress, she cheerfully told me that it'd be "another week or so". After a month, we finally received the files. I didn't like the lateness, but even more than that I didn't like the fact that she never apologized or even raised the issue. Pretty unprofessional. As I said at the start, the quality of the photos was not bad, but the rest of the baggage that came with it gives me second thoughts about recommending Tipping Point.

We quickly decided to go with her as our photographer, and as part of the package she included an engagement photo session, which was helpful: my now-husband doesn't always love having his picture taken, so it gave us a change to meet her and work with her before the wedding day. We chose a very different venue for the engagement photos than for our wedding, so it was cool to see what Ingrid did with the different spaces, lighting, etc. She also went out of her way to source a different type of light for the wedding day photos, since I have photosensitivity issues and the flash going off all night could have been a problem. (The photos we have seen so far look great!) For each session, we got some teaser photos within a handful of days, and the entire collection came/are scheduled to come about a month later. Her crew, consisting of Ryan (second photographer) and Morgan (assistant), were both professional and nice to work with. They powered through our shot list and checked with me a couple of times to make sure we could gather people or to see what was still missing. We would definitely recommend Ingrid as your wedding photographer or for another special event you are wishing to capture! She has a great eye and abundant energy! 10/10!

We loved that she cared about our love story so she knew as as people and not just as clients. Her second photographer (Ryan), and her assistant were all so great day of the wedding. She sent us a ton of preview photos the next day, and we're super excited to see the whole lot of photos when they are all edited.
