We finally tried the viral Angelina, and I have to say the food lives up to the hype in my opinion. We got the viral chocolat chaud, croissants, and croque de monsieur. No complaints except price. Should 2 of each of those cost $66? No. But we did love the food, and would eat there again. We only waited in line for 30 minutes, and the staff was great. The only thing I'd say I was a little disappointed in was the dining room. The wall decor was beautiful, and I think it had the potential to be a lovely ambiance, but you could tell they crammed as many tables in as possible, and it seemed lower quality than I expected. They probably did just to keep the line moving quicker, but it was a slight let down for me once we were inside. Regardless, we loved the chocolat chaud and food, and we might come back. Angelina is a must see if you are in Paris. Their hot chocolate lives up to the hype. Truly was the best hot chocolate I ever had. It had the perfect tadte, bot too sweet. First, we explored the gift shop area because we had a wait to be served in the dining room. About 20 minutes later, we were sat in the dining room and felt very special. It really makes you feel as if you are in Breakfast at Tiffany's or some fancy movie like that. Our waiter was very sophisticated. It is Paris after all. The only real negative I can say is that we were there about 2 hours. Being served our hot chocolate and small tea sandwiches took much longer than I anticipated. I guess I am a typical American who expects quick service. I really did not mind sitting and enjoying the atmosphere, but we had other things on our agenda this day. Even the other restaurants we ate at in Paris did not take so long to serve. So my best advice is to expect to sit there for a while if you want table service. I heard about this restaurant from a magazine and went for 9 am breakfast on Monday. No line when we arrived but there's one when we left 10 am. We ordered a set breakfast with scrambled eggs and bread basket and at the end yogurt with granola. I got hot chocolate which is their signature drink. I thought that it's just too heavy for breakfast and which it is hotter. Scrambled eggs was excellent. We then ordered two dessert their famous mont blanc cake and Paris Brest. First, let me say our group got all of our treats to go and enjoyed them at the beautiful Luxembourg garden across the street. We did not want to waste 45- 1 hr standing in line. So I cannot speak for the service or decor of the restaurant. That being said, the young lady helping us with our to go order was so very friendly and pleasant. We purchased a few items as souvenirs and she had no issues giving us extra bags and tissue so the items can be individually pack once we return home. I was at first a bit reluctant to try the Mont Blanc as it did not seem appealing. The color was kinda bland and aesthetically it look like a cup of spaghetti. However, I am so happy that I decided to try it since it was their signature item. I found the dessert not too sweet (compare other items my group order) and was very delicious. The hot chocolate was something you just have to try at lease once. It is definitely rich and not like the hot chocolate in the states. It would not be something I would order on a regular bases. While on a trip to Paris, my daughter kept telling me about Angelina's hot chocolate. We didn't wake up at the same times in the morning, so my daughter went to Angelina's and brought back their hot chocolates. I didn't know what the fuss was about, and I felt a little cheated, not having gone there, but their hot chocolate was thick, rich and velvety smooth as it lined my oral cavity and esophagus. It was a cross between a ganache and a hot chocolate, so thick, rich and delightful. A small cup is provided, which is more than enough for one sitting. I think everyone who goes to Paris must try at least once their hot chocolate. Unfortunately the lines kept us from going into the restaurant, there are several other Angelina's around, but they also have the same lines, even at Versailles. I've always wanted to go to Angelina and was praying I wouldn't be disappointed, as often, those tourist trap places tend to be over talked about and over hyped. This however wasn't. The staff were warm and friendly (I had awful thoughts that they'd be snobby and rude, but not the case at all). We were seated immediately and felt like we were back in time in an old worldly luxury cafe. Of course, we each ordered the hot chocolate. I LOVE hot chocolates, and this one is delicious, although it's quite thick and rich. I didn't finish mine, but the flavour was really really good. I also got the eggs benedict with smoked salmon. It was really beautiful, although the brioche it came on was a little too sweet for me, as I don't like mixing sweet and savoury. We ordered their famous Mont Blanc to take away with us, and it came out promptly too. Everything about this experience was great and definitely something you must do once when you go to Paris. It IS a little pricey, but again, it's a great experience and a real treat to eat in such an opulent dining room. Also, don't worry if you haven't left room to try something really decadent from their store out the front; they package things up safely so you can buy them and eat it later in the day. They still get 4 stars because of service - I had reservations for 11:15am and we didn't get there till about 2pm due to a flight delay. Despite the delay, they still honored our reservation even when they had close to 12-15 groups waiting without reservations. We truly appreciated this generous gesture! The food however - the croissants were cold, the Mont Blanc is highly overrated and the hit chocolate was cold and too sweet. The only saving grace in terms of food was the coffee. Ohhh boy, their signature hot chocolate is without a doubt the best hot chocolate I've ever had. You're literally drinking liquid chocolate. Everytime I go to Paris this has become a required pit stop. The cafe itself as an incredibly long line, so unless you really want to sit down for an afternoon, I would highly recommend going through the take away line and getting the hot chocolate to go. We also order their signature Angelina chocolate. It was very rich but very yummy. $8.2 each The pastry Mont Blanc which is chestnut with chestnut cream. millefeuille is also have cream in between. Cool place to check out at least once. Was a on a trip to Paris and wanted to have some breakfast here. The line was long but moved rather quickly. We were seated in no time and our server was there for some drink orders and to explain the menu. We ordered two multiple course meals that came with coffee or hot chocolate, juice, some crossaints, your main and a dessert (basically get this bc you'll spoil yourself silly and who doesn't like that when you're traveling). For the drink I got hot chocolate and yes as they all mention the hot chocolate is legit ok. It's freakin melted chocolate like omg sugar rush but hella good. Try it. For juice I got the orange ginger one... Bom. It was great. For main I got the avo eggs benedict. This was just basic, nothing special. For dessert I got the yogurt and this was the best yogurt everrrr. It was so rich and creamy, very well made I hardly needed any toppings. I enjoyed the tarty-ness of it. Before your main you get a triple decker of pastries and crossaints. The crossaints were fabulous some of the best we've had in Paris. It came with three different spreads including honey, their signature nutty/chocolate one and a jelly. The decor was very elegant, this is a real tea room. Although there was a feel of sameness. Hard to explain but I didn't feel a connection with the place or the people. It was as if they were trying to put the food out for you asap and then get you on your way. The hot chocolate is silky, creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced in flavor. It tastes like a Mounds but not super sugary tasting. The vermicelli ball was like a red bean paste texture, and not super sugary. It was artistry done and well executed! The omelettes were what is expected from an omelette from a cutesy tea shoppe- perfectly made and aesthetically pleasing. We got there around 8 AM on bastille day, and were the second couple in line. Went to Cafe Angelina on my trip to Paris to try the famous hot chocolate it wasn't as great as I thought it would be but probably because I was hungover & dying. The waiter took forever to come to the table but once she did we ordered all of our food, I got the Salmon Benedict and added avocado it was very good and I highly recommend. The orange juice wasn't too good it tasted out of a carton and not too fresh like other places I've been too. Tea Time in Paris at the world famous Angelina... First things first, if you want to visit Angelina during Tea Time, I suggest you reserve a table to avoid the typically long queues during the Parisian sweet hour. Secondly, incorporate a visit to Angelina around either a trip to The Louvre, the adjacent Jardin des Tuileries or during a spending spree on the Champs-Élysées. Upon entering Angelina, the first thing you notice is the eye popping décor; it's somewhere between serenity and indulgence. Now onto the sweet stuff! How could I mention Angelina's and not mention their TEN macaron flavors: chocolate, pistachio, lemon, coffee, vanilla, black currant, caramel, chocolate-passion, raspberry and Mont-Blanc. My two favorites were the pistachio and of course their specialty, Mont-Blanc. The macarons were expertly made - crunchy with light fillings. I'm a sucker for an éclair so of course, I had to indulge in one of those as well. And now the grand finale, their hot chocolate. It was unlike any other hot chocolate I've experienced before - thick, dark, rich and extremely chocolatey. Their hot chocolate is an African hot chocolate composed of three kinds of African cocoa from Niger, Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire so when I say extremely chocolatey, I wasn't kidding. Last time I was in Paris I wasn't able to cone here but I made sure to come this time around. We came around 3pm and the place was packed but not so much we had to wait to be seated. I ordered the croquet madame and the regular hot chocolate, my husband got the Angelica sandwich and white hot chocolate. I know this place is known for their regular hot chocolate but to be honest I wasn't a fan. It's way too thick and it wasn't sweet enough for me. I found the white hot chocolate a lot better. Angelina was a must when we visited Paris. Seeing delectable photos of their desserts and hot chocolate was enough that it was high in my priority list. And of course the experience there did not disappoint. Anticipating the long line, I forced myself to wake up early so my husband and I could avoid the busy hours. We were seated right away when we arrived as wait for two wasnt very long anyway. Straight down to business we ordered croissants and their ever famous L'Africain. And what a delightful experience it was. The croissant was fresh, had a good crunch and sweetness and was flaky to perfection. Their hot chocolate was rich and decadent. It was also very addicting that we visited the restaurant three times during our 6 day trip just to have a taste of it again and again. It was that good. Wait and service: Whenever I passed by there would be a long queue in the middle of the day. Decided to come right at opening and I was seated right away. The staff were really attentive and checked in frequently to make sure I was enjoying everything. I do feel that Angelina's is a tourist spot and with that said it would be nice if the staff offered tap water/ carafe of water as options. French Toast: Light, fluffy, and delicious. No complaints here! Hot Chocolate: Far too sweet for me. The hot chocolate was so rich and decadent after just two sips it made my throat hurt. I couldn't finish it but I guess I can say I gave it a shot and can check it off my checklist. Will I order it again? Nope. But if you love sweets and have a high tolerance for it I can see this being the spot to visit. Mont Blanc: The chestnut paste was amazing...It was sweet but the whipped cream and meringue really offset the sweetness & elevated the chestnut flavor. This pastry was DEFINITELY worth the hype. Overall: The ambiance was unique but I don't think it was worth getting up at 8am to visit. The food was tasty but it felt over-priced. We visited Angelina Paris today 11/30. Reservations were not being taken at the time of our arrival in Paris so we did have to wait in a line before being seated. The queue didn't take long (maybe 20 min) and we were taken directly to our seats. We ordered the Angelina breakfast (hot chocolate, fresh orange juice, mini pastries, bread roll, omelette, and Angelina crunch granola & brunch (hot chocolate, fresh orange juice, mini pastries, bread roll, eggs Benedict with smoked bacon, and crepe). These were VERY filling meals! In my opinion the Hot Chocolate was the best I have ever tasted and everything about this meal was superb. Service was quick and friendly and staff spoke enough English to make us feel both welcome and understood. Prices are high but in this area it seems to be about normal. If you do not want to try one of the various meal bundles they have I would recommend getting a glass of the hot chocolate and the eggs Benedict. These items were my two standout items from our meals. Overall great ambiance, food and service. If you are traveling to Paris you should try to make this one of your stops. read more

Oh Angelina, how beautiful is your tea room! But what really warrants a visit here is there rich and decadent African HOT CHOCOLATE (€8.20) that will make any cocoa lover hit ecstasy. A serving is not plenty but it is so thick you can share between two people. Their world-renowned MONT BLANC (€9.5) needs no introduction though I prefer the new flavor: Coco-Passion that exudes a tropical twist from the light coconut whipped cream and passion fruit. Try it for a change. You can't go wrong with their MACARONS either. From the savory side, I found the CROQUE MADAME (€16) to be underwhelming and overpriced. Came here for takeout to get a mille feuille - it was absolutely delicious! They have a sit down area too which wasn't too busy on a Friday morning around 10 AM. It is a pricey place for sure, but I would say definitely worth it! The Mille feuille was flaky and so delicious! I feel it had a coffee base to it either in the pastry or cream. The cream was rich and flavourful. There are a couple of locations, i believe the original one is in the Louvre, but this one is nearby. Also got a couple of macarons which were pretty good.
