I think Angoor's sweet spot is going to be with: a) people who know nothing about wine but are curious about learning more, b) people who know they like wine but don't want to spend money on full bottles to find their favorite, when a place like this offers "sample" sizes, c) longtime locals looking for something novel, d) bachelorette parties, e) corporate day trips, f) tourists staying at the very nearby Residence Inn. THE SPACE I agree with other reviewers both on Yelp and other platforms (sometimes we think what's being said here is isolated, when it's not): it's an immaculate space, yes, but also very sterile. There's no character or charm or distinct personality atmospherically: it's a white room with white marble tables and seven mini silver "kegoraters" (for lack of a better explanation) that dispense the wines. THE MENU When I visited, all the wines offered were listed on a packet of stapled together 8x11 papers (that had been previously written on by other customers): the font was tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiny and there was SO MUCH information to read about each one. I wonder if there's a more pithy way to share this because it's overwhelming as is - I would think especially to people new to wine. THE EXPERIENCE When you arrive you hand over your credit card and you are given a wine card. Walk up to any of the dispensers, tap your wine card on the machine (there's a little sensor on the left hand side by the first screen of the machine), then select the size pour you want (2, 4, or 6 oz) from the screen above the wine you want. The wine comes out *VERY* quickly after you make your decision, so make sure your wine glass is under the nozzle it needs to be. When you're finished, walk up to the counter, hand them the wine card, and they'll charge the credit card you gave them!

I recently partnered with Angoor Wine Bar to host our Dachshunds of Maine meetup, and I can't say enough good things about this place! The space is absolutely beautiful, with a cozy and stylish vibe and the perfect outdoor patio! Their self-pour wine concept is such a fun and unique experience--something totally new to Portland! So many wines to choose from but their process made it easy to try a little bit of everything. The food was just as good: from the flatbread to the charcuterie boards and samosas, everything was delicious. The owners and their team went above and beyond with their hospitality and made everyone feel welcome. Truly phenomenal service. Thank you Angoor Wine Bar!

Interesting wine program. If you are Newbie to expert to wine, they covered it all. The dispenser can be intimidating if you don't know what u want, so my suggestion just ask the people who work there they can help you with suggestion. It can be loud especially on the weekend so just be aware on that. Menu wise, just pay attention if they didn't put the number on the dispenser, they probably didnt have the wine in the dispenser (yet). I understand it can be overwhelming to work there especially if they just opened and busy but 1 of the worker its a bit combative when I asked the question about the wine availability. I mean I got it if the one that I want not available on tap even though they put on the menu but I don't think she need to yell at me and said " we can't accommodate the wine selection if we don't have enough dispenser". Luckily I'm not in the mood to deal with her attitude so I let it slide. Other than that, it's quite good experience. I spoke with the owners and they definitely know what they're doing.

I had been greatly anticipating this opening of Angoor for so long and let me say it was well worth the wait!! As someone who loves exploring wines and having the option to try different styles, regions, grapes, etc this was a dream. Starting from the moment you walk in you are immediately greeted by one of the lovely staff members who will explain and answer any questions you have. they walk you through how it works and will even let you know what you should try based on your likes! It was so much fun trying multiple 2oz pours of different wines and that it not something you can do anywhere else in Portland. i love how it can be a very interactive experience like i had, where i chatted with the staff and the amazing owner the whole time or you can be completely alone and do your own thing without having to talk with anyone! i will definitely be making more stops to this fantastic wine bar since they have a constant bottle rotation that changes. My only hope is they can get find a way to get the noise level to work within the space. It is very loud since everything amplifies with the open space, and i don't think there was music playing (or i just couldn't hear it over all the talking, and i was there at a less busy time). Overall great price points on pours, amazing service, and quality amazing wine for all winos.

Angoor is a fun new self-pour wine bar in an up-and-coming section of outer Fore Street. The self-pour aspect is novel for Portland, and is a blessing and a curse. I'll just put this out there...I have absolutely no willpower. You give me a wine card with unlimited pours and I treat it like an open bar wedding. Heck, eventually I might even dance. So here's how it works: You link your credit card to a wine card, and then have free rein to all 32 offerings around the bar. All are available in 2, 4 or 6 ounce pours, and there is a pamphlet with detailed descriptions of each. These are finely curated selections from around the world that I haven't seen before. So if you're hoping for Josh or Whispering Angels, this may not be the bar for you. When you finish your wine, you just go back up and pour a new one. Prices are clearly labeled for each wine, with 6 ounce pours ranging from $9 to over $24 (for the very high end wines). The option for 2 ounces is a great opportunity to sample luxury, and then buy the bottle retail if you love it. Angoor also partners with the nearby Cheese Shop to construct some of the best charcuterie boards in the city. These are very generous portions and the perfect accompaniment to the wine. Empanadas and other shareables are coming soon. The atmosphere is classy with various tables, couches and bar stools for seating. It's an attractive space to drink far too many fancy wines. But there is an elephant in this room. When you cash out on the tablet, the dreaded tip options appear of 15%, 20%, or 22%. With self pour, by definition, you're doing all of the work. Especially if you didn't get food. So what are you tipping on? This is an awkward end to an otherwise fantastic experience. My solution is to just drink so much wine that you no longer care. Luckily, Angoor makes it very enjoyable to do so.

Angoor Wine Bar is exactly that-- a wine bar with an impressive selection of wines and a few small bites (charcuterie and samosas sourced from a local, popular Indian restaurant). This wine bar's menu is extensive, describes the notes/flavors of the wines well, and offers suggested pairings. However, the paper menu detracts from the otherwise flawless (albeit sterile) interior. Choose your wine(s) based on their assigned number on the menu, hold your card up to said selection at the pour station, pull down in the lever of your selected wine, and the dispenser will automatically pour out the desired amount of your chosen wine. Although the aforementioned technology is as impressive as the concept, the execution feels very devoid of warmth, or, dare I say, a human touch. The interior is entirely marble, the building itself is akin to a Robocar, and there are limited servers (maybe only one at a time), which robs the customer of a typical, cozier wine bar/wine tasting experience. The wine and food is good (although pricy), but this just wasn't for me. What makes this experience a 1 star is the manager's treatment of people who leave "negative" reviews. Brought my 3 star down to a 1. True customer service involves politely asking for feedback, not haggling for my personal contact info and demanding that we promote their business. Complete lack of professionalism and snobbish attitude, fitting of a place like this.

Lovely new wine bar with a concept that is new to Portland! You get a card and a glass and then you can go to any of the bottles tap your card and get 2-6oz. Super fun cause you can try all kinds of different wines. The inside has tables, bar seat and a big couch area. They do have some food as well but I didn't try any. I will def be back to try some more wines!

Sitting at the bar at Angoor! So fun.

Love this self-pour wine bar. They serve tasty snacks- my favorite are Samosas sourced from the Taj Indian restaurant. DELICIOUS. You can try as little as two ounces of wine to be sure you like your choice, which is nice for people like me who are just exploring wines. My hubby loves the high end Whiskeys that are on offer and the servers are the sweetest things- buzzing around making sure all is well. I'll definitely come back.

I was excited to check this place out with my bestie from out of town however I left with more to be desired. Walking in the decor is beautiful feels upscale, but the rest is just a pretty bland experience. The wine options are nice, though I did not like any of the ones I tried. Most of their wine selection are floral forward, if you're not a fan of that like me, you'll be more limited. The concept is appreciated, and new for the downtown area. The food selection was more than basic for a charcuterie board and at a pretty premium price for what you get. Basically a board you can make yourself from costco. However, for the experience right? One negative part of the experience, the wine I went to taste ran out and poured barely anything after my friend got hers first. I told the owner, she went change the bottle came back poured me what was like a drop that was left and acted like that was worth the $3.50 pour. Then another worker came and refilled the bottle in the case and I thought she was going to give me a new pour (mind you I only chose the 2oz) and then again absolutely nothing close to the 2oz my friend just got before me. Felt like a scam for a first experience for sure but of course didn't make a fuss. However, good to write for a review.

Perfect for a date night! Our server, Hannah, was great. She suggested an excellent bottle of wine that complimented all of our dishes. Customer service was a solid 10/5! This is a place to definitely add to your Portland dining list! To start, all of the dishes were wonderful portions and could easily be shared between two people. Which I absolutely love because I enjoy trying as many things as I possibly can! Arancini: This was a great starter. Absolutely delicious. I have yet to meet an arancini that I don't love. 5/5. Caesar Salad: A perfect dish that is light and necessary before getting into a heavy entree. The salad was crisp, delicious, very fresh, and a must order. 5/5. Scallop Risotto: This was a large position that had scallops in every bite! It wasn't too heavy, was not too salty, and you could taste the freshness in the ingredients. Dessert is not pictured, but it is worth ordering! The entire dessert menu was excellent!

I don't typically write a lot of reviews but when I do, it is about an experience that was either…read morereally impressive or hugely disappointing. So here goes... My daughter had been wanting to go to Via Vecchia for a while but couldn't afford it on a college student's income. So we went during my visit. My hopes were high as we walked in--a beautiful glass enclosure at the entrance that was draped with ceiling to floor ivy; an intimate but lively atmosphere; and an offering of creative cocktails...my enthusiasm quickly vanished when our appetizers arrived. We ordered the focaccia, grilled octopus, and Caesar salad. The focaccia was soggy and flavorless. Even the olive oil that accompanied the bread was flavorless. The grilled octopus was another disappointment--there were more cloves of garlic than pieces of octopus. And what little octopus was there, a third of it was charred to black. Thankfully, the Caesar salad was fresh and fairly tasty. Ironically the focaccia croutons were the highlight of the salad. Then the entrees arrived--chicken Marsala and a spicy shrimp pasta in cream sauce (can't remember the name of the dish). My daughter liked the second dish enjoying the slight kick of whatever pepper/spice was used in the recipe. For me, it was just okay. The biggest disappointment however was the chicken Marsala--the gnocchi was overcooked, the entire dish itself was too salty, and the chicken--overcooked in some parts and fairly tender in others--tasted like it came out of a can. Quite honestly, I don't know what all the hype is about. This restaurant is mediocre at best. Perhaps the cocktails numb everyone's tastebuds to the overly salty but otherwise bland dishes. It was not worth the money and I would never go again. If this is the best that Portland has to offer by way of fine Italian dining, I'd say it's time Portland redefined the meaning of "fine".

The lemon sole (fish) and octopus carpaccio (not pictured) were filled with flavor! The pork belly was very underwhelming and I would not order again. The waiter said 2-4 plates per person. I recommend starting on the lower end and adding additional dishes based on how you're feeling. The amount of food was very different from dish to dish. For example the tuna dip had way too much bread and the pork belly was very small in size. Overall I was half impressed. I wish the staff would take a moment to announce the plate as it's placed next to you or point it out on the menu for those hard of hearing and wanting to know what they are about to enjoy. However the music, overall restaurant vibe and half the dishes exploding with flavor made my experience pleasant and I will return again knowing a bit more of what to expect and looking at photos of the menu/meal options beforehand.

I loved that it was right by the harbor and you could see the ocean right outside. I felt like the service was pretty standard, but the food was disappointing. We got the cornbread and the fried squid with cherry peppers to start. We also ordered the halibut ceviche, the fish and chips, and the seared scallops. The corn bread was decent at best. The butter it was paired with was good, but overall the dish was nothing special. (6/10) The fried squid with cherry peppers was one of the better dishes of the night. The squid was well cooked and tender. I liked the thin and cripsy batter on the squid and the peppers. The sour/sweet taste of the peppers with the squid paired well and I liked all the sauces it came with as well. (7.5/10) The halibut ceviche was not what I expected at all. The halibut was bland and very chewy. The dish was more like a crudo than a ceviche. Though the fish was fresh it was not representative of a ceviche. (4/10) The fish and chips were also a disappointment. The fish batter was way too thick for my liking though the fish inside was perfectly cooked. I also was not a fan of the beer batter itself. The fries were too salty. The best thing on the plate was the tartar sauce. (5/10) The scallops were super tender and cooked perfectly. I liked the bits of bacon and mushroom on the plate as well. The plating is also stunning. The flavors of this dish were the best out of everything we tried. (8.8/10) Overall, the restaurant is gorgeous and feels upscale and the service is decent, but the food was a let-down for me. At this high of a price point, I just expected the flavors/ quality of the dishes to be better. Though there were some good dishes, the majority of the food we had was not on par with other seafood restaurants I have tried. We could have just gotten the wrong things, but I wouldn't go back based on my experience.
