These guys do a really good burger- nothing over-the-top, just a thick patty on a not-too-sweet brioche bun, with any number of fixin's. Served wrapped alongside a pile of house-made potato chips, and this is a great meal. The burgers are pretty lean since they're beefalo, but don't take "lean" as meaning "dry." These generous patties are nicely griddled, and have that bison note that makes them taste, at least to me, even more "beefy." The specialty burgers are worth exploring- I tried the "Granville," with Provolone cheese, grilled onions, A1 sauce and ketchup served on a Brioche bun. It reminded me of my dad's doctored burgers from the backyard grill so many moons ago. Delicious. Nostalgic. These guys are on the move, so check out their next post-up- you won't be disappointed. https://streetfoodfinder.com/TwoHeifersBurgers

Unfortunately, this one didn't quite hit the mark. The space itself is nice--plenty of seating inside and out, a private room in the back, clean bathrooms and even a stage where live music was playing during our visit. But the food situation was confusing. They have a full kitchen and menu listed, yet when we arrived, they were only serving food from a BBQ food truck/side business. Not sure if it was a staffing issue, a special event, or just how they do things on certain days, but it definitely wasn't clear for someone just passing through. Beer-wise, they had a decent range of styles, but nothing really stood out flavor-wise. Everything was just... okay. Not bad, but not memorable. Service was similar--there seemed to be only one guy behind the bar running things while the rest were tied to the BBQ setup. He wasn't rude, just not super engaged. All in all, this place was fine, but nothing WOWed me. With a little more clarity on the food, a stronger beer lineup and more upbeat staff, it could be a much better stop for travelers passing through, or even the regulars.

Ordered the Quirk Cherry Blossom & Lime seltzer, burger and tots. The seltzer was very good, def hits more cherry and floral than lime. The burger was excellent and the tots crispy. The price point was a little high for me on the burger ($12) since it didn't come with anything. Tots were an additional $4. I get it, it's expensive to run a business. Overall, totally worth the stop and would come again.

Both were good. So was the overall experience. I decided to come back today and try out the shrimp burger. When I showed up, there was a couple waiting in line at the cashier station. It was unmanned so we waited for the next available server to be done serving at the tables. One said that she'd be there soon to get their take-out orders. So I went to an available seat at the counter because I wanted to dine in. When it didn't appear that the server was taking any orders from customers at the counter, I went back to wait in line at the cashier station. I did not see a menu on the wall. Not a good thing when one has to order at the cashier station. It was at least 5 minutes before I was helped. The server looked at my baffled face and asked if I needed a menu. When she was available again to help a few minutes later, I ordered a lil' size shrimp burger and tater tots. When she asked about choice of drink, I declined thinking it was a separate charge. It had been a year. I forgot that the Classic Eats combo meal included a drink, and didn't notice that the menu said so. The server did not point out that the drink was included. Since I ordered at the cashier, my order was served in a brown paper bag. The shrimp burger was wrapped in aluminum foil, and the tater tots in a paper box. No basket trays with paper liners like last year's order, or the orders of customers sitting next to me. I enjoyed the shrimp sandwich but was unhappy with the experience overall. After finishing my order, I could not find a trash receptacle to dispose the paper bag, foil and box. I threw them in a trash bin outside. A minor quip about the men's restroom: the toiler paper dispenser was lopsided but was otherwise functioning properly. There aren't any fast food places in the area that serves shrimp burgers. So if you want one, you are stuck with Hwy 55. Otherwise, I don't recommend this place.

We sat outside and enjoyed the scenery. It is a beautiful location right next to the River District. There's a lovely park, splash pad, and playground right along the Dan River. We were so stoked to eat right there. The interior of the restaurant was so fun. We loved the decorations. Books everywhere! The server was ok at first. But when we were done, I did not like how she presented me the check. She just quickly flashed me an amount on a screen, and then hid the screen. I asked if I could pay cash and she accepted it but did not bring me a check even then. We ordered 3 burgers that sounded really good. Such a disappointment. The burger meat in each was shaped perfectly and was as hard as a hockey puck. They appeared to be cooked medium but the meat was tough and gristly. I have no idea how they got all the burgers the exact, uniform hockey puck shape. They must be like those frozen ones you can get at Costco. But $17.95 for a frozen hockey puck? At one point, while my kids were telling me how gross the patties were, while my husband and I told them they had to eat them to go play on the playground, I flagged the server down and asked what type of meat it was. She said beef. However, it did not taste like beef. Thank goodness for all the toppings because if they were plain burgers, they would have been inedible. We were so hungry though so we ate what we could. Notably, the buns also tasted cheap like they had just come out of a stale grocery store deli bag. The seasoned fries, sweet potato fries, the homemade ranch and ketchup, and salad with homemade vinaigrette were ok. After we left, I added up what we ordered again and realized she must have charged me an extra $12 to swap out a veggie patty for a beef patty. I was not told there would be an upcharge so felt a little swindled, especially with how she presented the check. I wish I had kept the veggie patty though, because it probably would have been better. Also my kid who had said the burgers were so gross puked right after we left and immediately felt much better and enjoyed 2 hours on the playground. My other kid was jealous of the other one puking. Like you can't make this kind of stuff up. This spot has so much potential. I would honestly hope to visit again just to chill outside but would not ever eat the burgers.

Not caramelized, burnt. Overall, the burger was decent, just not great like we were hoping. We sat at our table for quite some time and had a few drinks. It was busy but never too crowded. There was a line but it moved quickly. I would reccommend this place to grab a quick bite before a DPAC show!

Milano's is one of (if not the) oldest place in Oxford that still has the same owners. We got to meet them and the long serving waitress this evening after visiting a number of places in downtown and deciding that pizza was for dinner. We were the last customers to walk through the door this evening and the lady at the counter said "If you're here, I'm still serving." and that lead to a most pleasant evening of pizza and beer*. The pizza was a fabulous hand-tossed crust topped with their hand-made alfredo sauce and mozzarella. Cheesy and creamy and delicious especially with the spicy and sweet added.
