The venue is great. The location is perfect. The burgers are yuck. We had dinner here as a family of four on an early Friday night (tonight). There was no wait. We sat outside and enjoyed the scenery. It is a beautiful location right next to the River District. There's a lovely park, splash pad, and playground right along the Dan River. We were so stoked to eat right there. The interior of the restaurant was so fun. We loved the decorations. Books everywhere! The server was ok at first. But when we were done, I did not like how she presented me the check. She just quickly flashed me an amount on a screen, and then hid the screen. I asked if I could pay cash and she accepted it but did not bring me a check even then. We ordered 3 burgers that sounded really good. Such a disappointment. The burger meat in each was shaped perfectly and was as hard as a hockey puck. They appeared to be cooked medium but the meat was tough and gristly. I have no idea how they got all the burgers the exact, uniform hockey puck shape. They must be like those frozen ones you can get at Costco. But $17.95 for a frozen hockey puck? At one point, while my kids were telling me how gross the patties were, while my husband and I told them they had to eat them to go play on the playground, I flagged the server down and asked what type of meat it was. She said beef. However, it did not taste like beef. Thank goodness for all the toppings because if they were plain burgers, they would have been inedible. We were so hungry though so we ate what we could. Notably, the buns also tasted cheap like they had just come out of a stale grocery store deli bag. The seasoned fries, sweet potato fries, the homemade ranch and ketchup, and salad with homemade vinaigrette were ok. After we left, I added up what we ordered again and realized she must have charged me an extra $12 to swap out a veggie patty for a beef patty. I was not told there would be an upcharge so felt a little swindled, especially with how she presented the check. I wish I had kept the veggie patty though, because it probably would have been better. Also my kid who had said the burgers were so gross puked right after we left and immediately felt much better and enjoyed 2 hours on the playground. My other kid was jealous of the other one puking. Like you can't make this kind of stuff up. This spot has so much potential. I would honestly hope to visit again just to chill outside but would not ever eat the burgers. read more

My wife and I went in for dinner and left mildly disappointed. We have eaten here numerous times and it was always very good. This time we went, my burger was dry, she had the Mel Robbins (tuna) and it was overcooked and dry. I'm am not a tuna fan, but even I know it should have some pink in the middle. She had a mojito, which she said was very good, as was the appetizer. But for a total almost $80 (without tip) for a couple of burgers, 1 drink, 1 appetizer and 1 dessert, it seemed pretty expensive. We could have went to a number of restaurants and had a lot better experience for a hundred dollar bill. We will probably give them another chance as anyone can have a bad night. An adorable place for a good burger! I got the Virginia Woolf and wowza the black bean patty was 10/10! I love a homemade black bean burger that doesn't have corn. The fries were a 11/10 - perfectly hot, perfectly seasoned. The restaurant itself was small but plenty of outdoor and dog-friendly seating. I ordered a peppermint mocha martini, a spicy pickle beer, and the hughes-hurston which was the chicken sandwich special. Everything was great aside from the sandwich, the chicken was a little tough which threw me off. But the fries were delicious - and this is the first place that has asked if i want ranch or ketchup - OBVIOUSLY RANCH. And the ranch was soooo good. The pickle beer is also local from Ballad Brewing, I'd 100% recommend it. Overall good food, good drinks, and a nice atmosphere. I realized I never left a review for our visit here about a year ago, but it's one that stuck with me. We came in with our two little girls (ages 4 and 2 at the time). The restaurant had more of a pub or bar feel -- not necessarily a bad thing, but it definitely gave off more of a bar-scene vibe than a family-style restaurant. There were plenty of tables, and we were seated upstairs. When we asked for a high chair, we were told they didn't have one -- even though there was one sitting just a couple tables away. That was a bit frustrating. The food took around 50 minutes to come out, which is tough with little kids. When our meals finally arrived, they weren't cooked to temperature and were made incorrectly. The burgers themselves were just okay -- not terrible, but definitely not great either. To their credit, the manager did come to the table and comp our meal, which we appreciated, but that really wasn't what we were looking for. We just wanted a good, correctly made meal and a smooth dining experience. Good first outing at Me's. It's a place that I'd try again when in that area. Hadn't been there before so checked out the menu prior to being seated and liked the options and variety of sandwiches, beef, fried or grilled chicken, veggie, lamb, or tuna. The place has a nice esthetic. It's book/author themed from the decor to the naming of menu items. Very cute staircase made to look like books also. There a nice touch of books being placed throughout the dining area also. Drinks were good. They have several local VA beers and our waitress, Jordan, was prompt in letting us try a few to decide which we wanted. The mixed drinks were very good also. The appetizer of fried pickles was excellent. Crispy, tangy, and they have good ranch. For entrees, the Nic Stone burger was well seasoned, great toppings. Sometimes when bacon is on a burger, it just blends into the rest of the ingredients and is lost. They use good quality bacon and it really stands out. The onion jam is great. The only thing lacking on it was the bun which was quite dry and dense. I ended up taking the top bun off. The Harper Lee was also very good. Same deal with the bun, but the chicken filet was huge. I was in Danville for work two nights this week and looked for a casual place to get a decent burger for a fair price, and found Me's. As a female solo traveler, I saw there were female bartenders so chose a seat at the bar as to not take up a table. The bartender Amanda was fabulous, made an excellent drink, and the burger was so good I came back the next night to try another one. Amanda, Rob and Julia were both behind the bar and super attentive. Loved the "Florida!!! Mojito" in honor of our favorite mastermind. I couldn't find the burger I saw recommended on Yelp on the menu, and the server said they change the menu every three months. But they have a make your own burger and she found out what was on that burger to help me order something similar. Great service! If I could give this 10 stars I would. This is by far the best place to grab a fantastic meal. The hubby and I started with the brussel bombs that were out of this world. We each had a cocktail. The lavender lemon drop and an old fashion .They both were incredible as far as cocktails go. Followed by the caprese grilled cheese. Yum and my hubs had the Dr. Seuss burger with sweet potato fries. IF I had anything negative it would be that the regular fries that came with my grilled cheese were a tad salty for my liking but that could just be personal preference. We were too full for dessert but will definitely make the trip from Roxboro NC to Danville again just for this place!! Service was fantastic. Typically the burgers you see at these types of establishments are gaudy monstrosities that mask multiple toppings over poorly cooked burgers. Not here. Smaller burger but extremely well cooked and even topped on a fresh locally baked roll. I went medium cooked and it was perfectly done. Fries were hand cut and while saltier than I prefer, excellent in their own right. Service was great and the dessert (glazed donut bread pudding was other worldly).
