Incredible menu. We started with fried Green tomatoes which were served on a bed of grits and goat cheese. The goat cheese added some oomf to the grits. For dinner I had the Beef and Reef. Mr Domina makes a perfect steak. Wonderfully medium rare and delicious seasoning. I chose the crab cake which was my first taste of a crab cake and I just loved it. The mashed potatoes were beyond. For dessert we shared the bread pudding and the donkey balls. If you ever ate at Keltie's in Westfield, you're already a fan of her bread pudding. It tastes like a hug. The Donkey Balls were the phenomenal and incredibly rich. The sauce with them was unique. My only complaint is that I didn't have bread to sop up the delicious juices. First time, drove up from Brownsburg. I was expecting a cute bar with bar food. OMG - was I surprised. The restaurant was nicely decorated and the food is amazing! The food is farm to table Bistro style. I had the Pan Seared Chicken with bacon jam and my husband had the bone-in pork chop with a cranberry compote and bacon jam. I ordered the Blackened Cat Fish--no issue at all when I asked to substitute the grits for something else. My husband ordered the Prime Rib-$30 for the 16 oz. Worth every penny!!! Tasted fantastic, cooked to perfection. We were celebrating our 35th anniversary, they were so kind and gave us a piece of the "Kick Ass Chocolate Cake". Came with locally sourced ice cream. First of all, I've never had anything bad here. Shrimp and cheese grits... A+ Peppered beef tips.... Yum! My mom, sister, two nephews and niece met for dinner and we weren't disappointed. I drove from Lafayette and they drove from Tipton. They had one of my favorite beers on tap, Stella. It was even served in a Stella glass. We ordered multiple appetizers. The spinach artichoke dip was my favorite. I had the cedar salmon. It was perfectly cooked. We visited the Angry Donkey for the first time this evening based on recommendations from friends. It certainly didn't disappoint! We were impressed with cleanliness and simple decor in the dining room and the selection of entrees on the menu. One of my favorite dishes anywhere is "Shrimp & Grits". I've tried it in many restaurants in Florida and a couple in Lafayette Indiana. Each has it's special way of preparing this southern specialty. I must admit I was a little doubtful that a quality shrimp & grits could be found in Michigantown, Indiana. The Angry Donkey served their concept, which was unique in that the five large shrimp, vegetables, cheesy grits and sausage were separated from each other on the plate. Every other time, the cheesy grits served as a bed for the other items. The flavor was spot on. I would rate it as one of the top three I've experienced. My wife chose the pan fried chicken. It was three medium sized breast filets with a light breading and cooked to perfection. She was very pleased with her choice. The house salad was ample size of mixed greens with poppy seed dressing. We both chose the bread pudding for desert. She wisely ordered hers as take out. I thought I could eat mine there. It was really delicious with a rich caramel sauce. I would have liked a little more whipped cream to offset the richness of the caramel. I ended up taking half mine home for a late evening snack. Johanna, our server, did an excellent job. She was pleasant, wore her mask properly, described the choices of food and was attentive without "hovering". Overall, it was a great dining experience. We made the 45 minute venture to the newly opened Angry Donkey in Michigantown and upon entering we were immediately greeted by a polite and pleasant young man who seated us right away. Server was cheery and enthusiastic, recommending their newest drink, the poison apple! Great mixed drink!! Well constructed cocktail! As for the food...I don't have enough room in this review to tell how delicious it was! My wife has the special, salmon with a lobster sauce seated in a bed of rice. (I'm drooling again...) I ordered the peppered tender tips, medium. OMG! PERFECT! If you haven't had Kelties famous (and second to none) bread pudding, YOU ARE MISSING OUT!! Go have a great dinner with friends or your special someone! Order anything on the menu, I would say it will be awesome! I did not know if Angry Donkey could help me out or not but I gave them a call. Wow, the young lady on the phone, was informative, pleasant, and accommodating. I had not been to the Angry Donkey, and was very excited to give them a try. Our lunch gathering was today, and Wow, what a great place, atmosphere very pleasant, staff friendly and personable, joked with us regarding one of the items on the menu. Not sure I remember when we both had a fantastic meal from appetizers (crab cakes) to dinners (brisket and grilled chicken). Loved EVERYTHING. Good quick service and drinks. My husband I have been wanting to try this place for awhile. Date nite and we drove fory five minutes there. The place was packed and we had to sit at the bar. It took awhile to get our drinks and food. Music outside and none inside. Our cups were empty for a long time at the bar and hard to get a refill, box for our food, bill, and leave. Dinner was no seasoned pan roasted duck breast with rice and grains served with veggies. It was one duck breast cut in half, badly seared (fat was burned and flabby instead of crispy), over cooked, supposedly served with a cranberry sauce. It was red and very watery, tasteless. White rice was mushy with so little grain in it, might have been quinoa. Veggies was over cooked zucchini and raw, stringy sugar snap peas. Never saw our waitress until we were ready to leave. I was going to make a brunch reservation for 10 the Sunday after Christmas for family, not now. Being new to the area, I thought I found a great restaurant in the middle of bunch of corn fields!! My wife and I drove up from the Indy burbs based upon positive reviews and prior good experiences with food from Keltie and Joe. A great restaurant... food was excellent and prices reasonable. We had the filet and the tenderloin tips. Shared dessert was the orange bread with berries. All the dishes were straight-forward, but again... excellent. The experience was definitely with the drive. Had lunch here 9/6/18...we were out looking at a house for sale and got lost...ended up in Michigantown and gave the Angry Donkey a try. Lunch menu good but we really want to return some evening for dinner. But for lunch I had the breaded tenderloin sandwich and hand cut fries. Both items good, arrived at table screamin' HOT (so hard to get hot food in many eateries). Wish we had room for dessert, as both the Bread Pudding and the Donkey Balls sounded delicious! Restrooms were immaculate!!! Restaurant decor is low key but classy, very clean...wait staff extremely nice. What an unexpected gem to find by accident. Where do we start? This Restaurant is exceptional for this small town. The crab cake and smoked wings appetizers were delicious. I had planned to get the cedar salmon with the vegetable of the day and tossed salad but changed my mind to get the daily special. I wish I would have stayed on plan. The chicken breast wrapped with bacon with mushroom sauce was okay but lacked any dominant flavor. The risotto had several hard pieces undercooked that stuck in my teeth. The vegetables were excellent. My wife had the peppercorn beef tenders which she loved with her salad and vegetables. The other two meals that our friends had, they were very happy with. Overall, the meals were very good and I really want to go back and try the cedar salmon but wouldn't do that on a Friday evening. This evening was a little too busy for the number of servers they had available. Even though we had reservations, we were seated a little late and had to wait several times on our server because she had too many tables to take care of. We did have several bar drinks and tried the donkey balls and berries, which our other guests enjoyed. I definitely will go back and give them the opportunity to get a perfect score. read more

After hearing about the Angry Donkey and checking out the excellent reviews we decided to check it out. Upon entering was greeted by a very nice host and was seated quickly. The inside as we looked around is amazing and elegant with a wonderful atmosphere. The waitress was nice and friendly and the service was excellent. The menu was amazing with a large selection of amazing appetizers and large selection of many different and wonderful dishes along with a large selection of fine deserts.As the waitress brought our dishes they looked excellent and well displayed. The food was excellent and some of the finest and tasting food anywhere as the chefs did an outstanding job . We tied the deserts and they are out of this world and delicious !! You will not be disappointed and is excellent for family and friends and those who like delicious food. We will be definitely be going again. read more

We are biased because we like Keltie the owner but from a food and experience standpoint it was awesome. We had never been to Michigantown and driving in we were pleased to find the beautiful signage and awnings giving it a very welcoming feel and look. We were greeted at the door as we entered and to our surprise the inside of this restaurant is amazing. Dark woods and well planned lighting gave this a western feel but somewhat elegant and sophisticated. It was not fancy at all but clean and fresh with many tables facing a huge beautiful bar. Our waitress suggested the deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes as appetizers and they were perfect. There was enough for 4 of us to share fine and the portions made it easy not to have to fight over anything. For dinner the table ordered Meatloaf, Beggers Purse, Shrimp and Grits and I ordered the burger. To speak for everyones plates, they had beautiful presentations and just the right portion sizes. My burger was awesome with a pretzel bun and cooked perfectly juicy with plenty of toppings including a super red thick tomato. Our dinner was wonderful and the music was right and service was great. Both owners took the time to come visit with us and share the story as well as asked for immediate feedback from us. We would highly suggest this for families, date nights and large groups. read more
