Being fans of breweries and brew pubs, and restaurants, we zeroed in on this wonderful slightly upscale place. It was far from the limited menu and "See here is our brewery equipment" place. Researching their website, we were convinced this was the place to be on our "chasin' racin'" weekend. My companion noticed that the clientele was quite diverse. I noted that also. We both agreed it was a sign of a thriving establishment. Autumn was our server and she was a lot of fun. Conversant, knowledgeable of the menu, and attentive, she was just great. One of my sides was a Caesar Salad. It was copious to the point that I could not finish it when it was appropriately brought out ahead of time. As a diabetic, I am concerned about carbs, but the Alaskan Whitefish grabbed me . While my plate was messy, I peeled off the coating and enjoyed the nice tender fish inside. In Tennessee, corn pudding is different than what they brought me, but it was wonderful. Bread pudding of the day was S'mores. I had my fill, brought home the rest and my family loved it. Local history was abundant. The menu held an article on local history and the lobby had many historic photos of local interest. I took many photos of them for remembrance. The restaurant is a cross between sports bar and family restaurant, we all real liked the atmosphere and service. Now for our reason for being there: the food. We started with the fried jalapeños and fried green tomatoes. Both were delicious. The tomatoes were heavily breaded and cooked soft. A nice crunch. The dips are house made and delicious. Half Moon Restaurant & Brewery was an excellent choice for my team's holiday party--praise all around! We tried a variety of appetizers, but the standout was definitely the Fried Mac & Cheese bites, the best I've ever had. I ordered a seasonal drink called the Fruit Salad, which gave total Florida vibes and was incredibly refreshing. For my meal, I had the Fiesta Burger with pepper jack cheese, salsa, jalapeños, and all the usual fixings. Such a great spot in Kokomo, IN--we'll absolutely keep it in mind for future events. I'm from California and had a late lunch here while on vacation. I could not speak more highly of this establishment. I had a BBQ plate with ribs and brisket, with a Caesar salad and baked beans for the side, along with a Roy Rogers to drink. I felt immediately comfortable in the environment and my server, Laylani, was friendly and attentive throughout. The salad was bursting with flavor. The ribs and brisket were cooked perfectly and delicious. They make their own sauce and you can tell how much care went into it. The beans were savory as well. All of it came with bread as well. The portion sizes were generous. In fact I didn't quite finish the brisket or the beans. Sadly I couldn't take any leftovers with me. A local antique shop recommended Half Moon Restaurant & Brewery and I'm so glad I asked for their advice of where in town to get a good lunch. We had such a great time at Half Moon. There is not a whole lot to do in Kokomo Indiana so we were very happy to see that there was a brewery across from our hotel. They were super accommodating to our large group and very friendly. It was Halloween and I was excited to see that everyone was in costume. The food was hit or miss. No one asked us how food was when served or when check came. Disappointed follow up with staff. Paid bill and walked out past hostess station. I did not send it back. Too risky. Ordered a second meal of a shredded bbq sandwich. To go. Opened it. It's cold. Received the bill. Shared the issue with the steak. Half moon is inconsistent at best. Sometimes it's amazing and sometimes they hit the mark by 1000 miles. I would not recommend them for a burger because they can't ever seem to get the temperature correct. However, their salmon and pulled pork are really good. read more

We have eaten there before and it was good. This time I ordered a breaded pork tenderloin. When it came the breading was a bit dark but after cutting it opened it was raw inside. Recently we visited Half Moon Restaurant. As you can see by the pictures the food did not disappoint! We started with the fried pickles and onion rings. They were both delicious but the onion rings were amazing. The batter wasn't soggy or greasy and they were cooked to perfection! I highly recommend sharing a meal. The servings are very large! We have always loved the food here..but Wednesday eve we were a party of 6. Three of us ordered the burbon burgers. None of us could even hardly swallow a bite as they were so very DRY. We tried to choke them down but some of us took them home to see if we could make them edible. We came here for dinner on a Monday night and did not need a reservation. Parking was easy in their private lot and we were seated in the front area to the right when you walk in. The bar area is straight back and they have TV, etc. back there. There weren't any in the section where we sat. That was fine though as we were seated in a large booth. They also have a mug club that allows you to get refills on beers at a discounted rate. Our server was great and brought us some really good rolls. There was a weekly special on Mondays that all burgers are $7.99. That is a great deal so I felt like I should go for it, even though they hve pricey items too including steaks. My bourbon burger fell apart too easily. The onion straws were good, but the sauce was too liquidy and made it fall apart almost upon the touch. It could have been good, but fell short. read more

Stop watching the game and start paying attention to your customers. I specifically inquired about the "slow roasted" Delmonico steak, and after hearing the description I said "sounds great, I would like the 12 ounce Delmonico medium rare please". Wrong order arrived to the table.... received a top sirloin instead which was on the tough side and under cooked.... only ate 1/2, the parts that were not still pulsating or mooing...... One of the people in our party happens to be 94 years young and asked if they could please bring the Coleslaw before the dinner....server said "absolutely".... it came after her dinner. Why? The server heard the request, acknowledged it, even wrote it down.... then completely forgot? My wife ordered a salad topped with medium rare slices of steak.... salad arrived without the steak. They later brought out the steak slices in a side dish bowl.... Another person in the party specifically asked if she could receive her salad before dinner, again the server heard the request, acknowledged it, but salad only arrived with the dinner..... After all the food arrived the server brought out a second basket loaded with rolls and butter... kind of did not make sense to do that. Two of the people at the table are elderly, we all split an appetizer, and they wasted that entire basket of rolls. All they had to do is ask first, we all would have said "no, we don't need more rolls, thanks..." Service was very poor. Male server was clueless, not attentive, and the restaurant was not busy..... so by my view.... no excuses to screw up so badly. Food quality is very good! read more
