The front end staff is fine but not as interested or enthusiastic as the majority of similar staff we have encountered in other vet clinics. Getting in on the assigned appointment time is no problem. Our last appointment was for both of our dogs and we saw Dr. Stuart who is lovely. She is the reason this is a three star review as opposed to two stars. The reason we are not enthusiastic about SSVC is the following: The time it took at our last appointment was excessive - two hours for relatively outine exams. After the vet was done I stood at the front desk for more than 25 minutes waiting for a few simple prescriptions. During this time nobody came to the front and apologized for the duration of the visit or the insane wait to get the prescritions and pay the bill - which was $351.00. The bill itself was breath-taking but did not factor in on this review. In the past 25 years we have had 4 miniture schnauzers and 1 yorkshire terrier. We have lived in STL for all but 2 of those years and used 3 vet clinics in STL and one when we lived out of state. The time issues at SSVC are extrodinary as are the front end issues compared to all our other experiences. Would we recommend SSVC? Given our experience as lifelong (more than 110 years between my wife and I) dog owners we would not recommend the clinic though we really liked Dr. Stuart. It is our belief you can find better service and qualified care elsewhere.

My cat is not a very friendly animal. She doesn't like strangers and will swat &'hiss at everyone except me, which I advised his staff. When I went to pick her up, they did tell me she "is quite Spicy". I knew what & why they said that. But, they didn't ask me not to bring her back and that is a plus. My next visit will be to take my Shih Zhu for her shots & checkups. She loves everyone.

In the veterinary occupation,…read moreit can sometimes be challenging to keep the thoughtfulness and compassion after seeing animals in pain or being euthanized every day. Trust me, I know, as I've experienced the "burnout" firsthand. I'm so happy to say the vet staff and veterinarian here obviously still have that spark, even if it is painful. I made the decision to euthanize my Java. At 13, he started showing neurological symptoms and had become basically a stranger to me some days. Not only was his eyesight and hearing failing, he was also to the point of incontinence. The worst part was he had become aggressive to myself and my special needs cat. He was always a high-strung dog, but never to the point of attacking his buddies. Knowing him as well as I did, I knew any sort of potential cancer treatment and testing would cause him way more undue stress and anxiety. Over the last 3 or 4 months, I could see his health was rapidly declining. I made the decision to let him go. As someone new to the area, I was going into this process blind: I have no real rapport with anyone in the area, much less a clinic. I decided to send them a message. Sarah called me within the hour to discuss what was going on with Java. She had talked to one of the nurses, and they had discussed the possibility of a tumor, which I agreed after countless research. We made the appointment for Wednesday afternoon. Java had 2 amazing days: a steak bigger than he was, a caramel and chocolate sundae, a 3 mile walk, and his "baby bath time", which was easily his favorite time. When I arrived at the clinic, I had a personal door and room to go into. Inside the room, there was a wonderfully-scented candle burning, a blanket, and general coziness. I thought the jar of "last kisses", Hersheys to be exact, was a nice touch. Everything was explained well to me; I was able to pay before we started the process, and I was assured I could have as much time with him as I wanted and could leave out the private door (doing a walkout while emotional is awful; this was such a nice touch). The vet and staff were wonderful with Java. They were patient and kind, even as he raged out and became super aggressive when they held him for the sedation. Very patient. They were patient with me once he passed; they let me cry and ramble, which I tend to do when upset. They allowed Java to pass with utmost dignity, which is what we should all hope for. Today, Thursday, I received a gorgeous bouquet to my house. When I called to thank them, Samantha asked how I was doing and again let me ramble about my day. I couldn't have asked for a better experience under these circumstances. It's the little things that add up to such a huge thing. I'm sincerely grateful and impressed at the above and beyond. Truly.

I found one whose prices were 1/2 those of the Animal Medical Center and I now take my dog there. Why are the prices so high? The Animal Medical Center of Wentzville is owned by a corporation rather than the veterinarians who practice at this clinic. The goal of a corporation is to make profits for its shareholders. Because of this, you will pay top price for veterinary services here. This doesn't affect the quality of care you receive but, it will affect your wallet.

I have been going to him with our pets for 30+ years. Each time I introduce a friend or relative with a pet to him they are very pleased. His is not a 24 hour facility. Lab results are not done in house. He will work with you if cost is an issue.

My Cat Pookie was 14 when she passed, this hospital did surgery on her twice. My Pitbull/Lab Mix was cared for by this facility, she passed at age 14, My MaineCoon Cat Jasper had his first kitten visit, neutering and declaw here and he passed away also at 12 years old. All once had excellent care. I now have three pets that have been at this facility but the customer service is not the same. I spent over $650 for medical visits, shots and tests for my Recent kitten to prepare him for surgery. He had a slight heart murmur requiring CardioLet proBNP -Feline (2666) to make sure he was safe for surgery, I got all his shots and took him in prior to surgery for the bloodtests. I paid $184.49 and went in for our scheduled appointment and the staff member advised me that I would have to pay for Koneko's 2nd Feline Leukemia Booster to havr his surgery that day. Although they stated that he was ready for surgery that day. Then I noticed the estimate was not what was previously quoted to me at $357 low cost or high cost was $482 but she printed out what I owed and the charges were $569.50 low and $680.50 high cost. Which was considerably higher and I had already paid for the bloodwork. When I disputed the charges the office staff member got up and walked away from me, then when she came back I asked her to print out my medical records for Koneko and she only printed out a portion of them and told me that they would not do the surgery on Koneko because I was not happy with their service. She was rude and disrespectful and I asked to speak to a manager.and she did not assist me in that aspect either. This being extremely disrespectful considering the history of all my prior pets treatment and I had given an excellent review back in 2010 because the staff then was exceptional and they did not seem to be grabbing for money on each visit. Every appoinment was over $200 this year and that also included an appointment for my Cat Jasmine for $264 during Koneko's treatment. But to have me prepay for bloodwork for my cats neutering and then refuse to do the surgery because I disputed under the terms of my previous estimate is beyond unethical and unprofessional with respect to actually caring for the wellbeing of a pet and a longterm customer for all those years. This was so disturbing to think that they did this to me that I can never trust them again. I have a printout of my first estimate and these figures are far more expensive than what was written on my initial estimate and they were well aware of Koneko's very mild heart murmer at which I believe was the lowest of levels. He was in otherwise great heath and at the previous visit advised me that he was ready to be neutered. This was so wrong to do to me and my Pet because now I will probably have to pay for that bloodwork before surgery again. Disturbing to say the least!!!
