The staff is really friendly and Dr. Reid is amazing. He introduced us to shockwave therapy for our 14 year old heeler Beaux, Beaux's hips are degenerating with arthritis and he has a hard time going up and down steps. Animal Care is a great vet, and a great place to board your pet. We decided to wait until the last minute to get reservations at our regular place and they were sold out. We called our vet and they told us they had one spot left. Having never used their boarding service, we were a little worried how our dog would do. When I dropped him off, the staff was super friendly and showed genuine concern for his well being. We paid extra to have him bathed before pick up, and when we got him he was happy and clean. On Thurs 2 July 2015, while I was working out of state on a contract job, my dear sweet 16 year old Katrina rescue cat was attacked on our property in our garage by 2 Pit Bull rescues on the loose. (They live with Don Fraser at 103 Crapemyrtle Drive in Covington.) My neighbor witnessed the incident and brought sweet Patches to this hospital because this is where she obtains veterinary care for her pets. Patches was dead on arrival. A. I asked the clinic to take photos of my cat for Animal Services, as per the Officer's request, and the clerk's initial response was, "We can't." I asked, "Why not," and she responded, "We've already wrapped her up & have her in refrigeration" Are you kidding me? That's your response? Aren't you animal people...or People people? Don't you want justice? Whose side are you on: yours? Were you inconvenienced by this request? What am I paying you for? B. I gave the front desk clerk specific information about payment. I gave her my contact information and told her if the owner of the Pit Bulls did not pay the bill as he had promised, to call me and I'd pay the $301 bill over the phone with my credit card. Instead, against my lawyer's advice, they allowed my 82 year old grandfather to pay it against my explicit wishes. WTF? I didn't make phone calls and provide documentation in order to waste anyone's time, especially my own. When I called the front desk to inquire why they allowed this to happen, instead of explaining their reasoning, they actually told me "Well, now you can pay your grandfather back." And they can s*** it. (Do you think these people are Christians or what?) Patches was MY cat! Patches didn't belong to anyone else. I have 10 years-worth of vet records to prove it! Paying my g-dad back involves writing a check, which, right now, is harder than just paying by credit card. (I just paid for a cat to have PU surgery on the June 30th @ a different vet hosp. I'm really strapped for cash right now as you can imagine.) I'm an adult in my 30's & have other financial obligations. This is not positive business practice or basic customer "service." I won't be returning to this clinic for any reason once I pick up documents for Animal Services. And I won't recommend this vet hospital to anyone either. read more

10/10 of would recommend for anyone cropping there puppies ears. I was very nervous about the idea. Our girl had very large floppy ears, but we were scared they would be too short for her body after cropping. Especially after seeing so many other bully breeds with botched crops. They took such great care of her, and did exactly what I asked for we could not be happier with the results. read more

They killed my dog by prescribing him the wrong dosage of insulin for his diabetes. He became completely paralyzed due to their incompetence. He needlessly passed away and the worse part is there was no apology, no ownership, no sympathy'. read more

I brought my golden retriever puppy in 3 days after we picked him up from the breeder - he had intestinal worms, ear mites, horrible dermatitis, and an undescended testicle! Dr. Leslie was so thorough with her exam and took such great care of our boy! She was so personable and spent as much time as we needed her- answering questions and giving recommendations (we were new puppy parents and had no idea what to do). We just went back for our 1 month check up and our dog has a clean bill of health! Dr. Leslie was again so personable and spent time answering our questions. I brought my 14 year old chihuahua, Paco in today for a second opinion on my previous vet's diagnosis of him having a stroke. Dr. Leslie found the tick that was creating on the problems and removed it. She was compassionate, professional and most importantly informative. I drove in from Mississippi at the urging of my mother and I am extremely thankful for the care Paco received. Upon arriving home Paco is now returning to his usual form after my wondering if he was going to make through last night. I would highly recommend, Dr. Leslie saved Paco's life and I will be returning for all of his needs going forward. read more

I used to bring my animals to this vet about 5 years ago. I had to move across the bridge to New Orleans because I inherited a house and top of that my father was very sick. So I decided to board my cat's for about 2 weeks so I can get the house safe enough for them. I told them that I'm going to have them here for two weeks but maybe a little longer depending on what's going on with the house and whether it's safe enough for them to be in. There was so much confusion with this move and heart ache because not only am I dealing with the house I'm also dealing with my very sick father who was also dying. The veterinarian that was working there called me yelling at me saying that I was abandoning my cats. She got mad because I did not call on the regular basis with everything that was already going on. I told her that was not abandoning my cats I'm just trying to get everything done. So the fact that I had to deal with everything at home, I had to deal with her threatening to put my cats to sleep because she says I was abandoning them. I was already dealing with heartache, and now I had to deal with a veterinarian who is making me feel like a bad person. All I wanted to do is make sure that this place was safe enough for my cats and that was it. What made me more infuriating was that she had the audacity to say why I hope to see you soon again even though I told her I was moving across the bridge. I cannot believe she expected me to one give her a good review and to continue to go over there after the way she treated me. I do not recommend this place to anyone and when I went to switch my cats to another veterinarian, even they had told me the receptionist was rude. And that's another whole story. Every time I went to them for an appointment, the receptionist always treated me with a snide rude attitude. I've told people do not go to them because that will happen to them. I had a friend who went there and she completely agreed with me that the receptionist was very rude and they just left and never came back. So I know it's not just me. read more

Dr Bill is awesome. I came here after my cat started peeing blood (he has past urinary tract issues). But Dr Bill explained what was going on with my baby in terms that I understood perfectly, no vet has ever taken the time to do that. He also made me feel okay after I was totally embarrassed since my nervous cat peed all over him. However, I'm not a fan of some of the techs they have at the front desk. Whenever I come in to pick up my cat's prescription food they seem very bothered to be helping me. I always feel like they're trying to rush me out of the door even though they're not busy. Dr Bill gets five stars but his staff would get three. So I'm going in the middle and giving this hospital an overall four. read more

Dr Leslie and Bill have been our Veterinarians for over 23 years. We have owned numerous cats and now dogs who we treat as part of the family. Drs. Michaelis really enjoy their work and treat your pets as if they were their own. Our first pet, a Himalayan cat named Sophie, was very will when we got her. The breeder asked us to bring her to a Vet and have her put down. This is when we met Dr Bill and he told us She was too beautiful not to try to save. Sophie stayed at Animal Care Hospital for almost 4 months. When they called to say she was ready to be picked up we figured the bill would be a small part of the national debt. Dr Bill said there was no charge that it was a honor and pleasure to save her life. We have moved to NW Florida 250 miles away. We now own 3 dogs and consider Drs Michaelis our Vet of choice and bring them when we come to visit family in Mandeville. read more

Beware of the hidden fees! we have been boarding our dog here for the past year, frequently and today when we went to pick him up, we were 1 1/2 hours late and they charged us for a whole other night!!!! they could have at least told us this before we made the booking!! We boarded our dog here for 2 nights on a coast to coast road trip. The staff was very nice and extremely informative. There were no hidden surprises. Our dog loves to be with us and when she's not she typically doesn't eat. However, she ate every meal and when we picked her up she was very happy. You could tell the staff did an amazing job giving her lots of love. We had her bathed & nails trimmed upon arrival and once again the did a terrific job! I am VERY partial to Dr. Bill. We moved to this vet about 23 years ago - after having a much less than positive experience with another local vet for about a year. He is one of the kindest people - whether towards people or animals. I have never felt anything was unecessarily done for the animals and when we had to let one of them "go", he was compassionate and walked us through that decision. He follows up on care, when that is appropriate and he could teach lessons to lots of different walks of life on basic kindness and respect. Although when I board my animals I honestly wish they could just go home with him, I do feel like they get love and aren't angry and frustrated with me when I pick them up after being kenneled at the facility.
