Our beautiful boy (Charlie!) had an emergency on the 2nd. We rushed him to Medvet (who is wonderful!) but it turned out he was very very blocked and the catheter ended up breaking in him as a result (NOT medvet's fault! They are amazing.) Medvet and my normal vet were both unable to do his PU surgery, which prompted me to discover Northlake. We arrived and right away were impressed with how clean and comfortable the vets office was. The receptionists/techs were extremely kind and we were seen pretty quickly by Dr. Leonard. He examined Charlie to ensure we didn't need surgery, unfortunately we did. He was honest with me, didn't sugar coat things but was kind about it. He told me there was a chance, because of the catheter being broken, that surgery would fail. After he spoke with several other vets to discuss what would be best for Charlie, we decided on the PU surgery. Of course I was a nervous wreck during this time and the techs were AMAZING through out it all, they came out to inform me several times through out the surgery how it was going, kept me comforted and assured (Specifically a tech named Lauren, I believe. She was AMAZING and kept us so comforted) I found out Dr. Leonard also had another doctor working with him, Dr. Linn. Surgery was a success! However because of everything, Dr. Leonard wanted to keep the cath in him for 10 days to ensure proper healing - This is the first time I've EVER been away from Charlie and I was a MESS over this, but the AMAZING staff at Northlake were SO sweet and so patient with me calling a bunch of times to check on my boy. Doctors like Doctor Floyd, Holt, Abbey and Vinterella were also doctors who helped to take care of him during his stay and were always so on point about making sure I got daily updates whenever they were the ones working with him. The patience, kindness and compassion we were shown through out this whole ordeal made what was a terrifying experience so much easier and I can't begin to thank the entire staff at Northlake enough. A simple "thank you" hardly seems like enough. The women who answered the phone (Ashley, Ashley, Shannon and Emily - I believe those were all their names!) were always so kind and patient with me, I wanted to make a mention of them and how great they were. NEVER once did any of them make me feel like I was calling too much or annoying them. You guys were AMAZING. Charlie is now home, and we're watching him closely to ensure that he continues to heal properly, but without Northlake I don't know what I would have done. I wanted to come on here and make sure I left a glowing review, because I cannot recommend them enough. They're an office full of amazing, kind, and determined individuals. I believe with every fiber of my being that Charlie got the best care from this office. I also appreciated how accommodating and patient they were with letting me visit Charlie!! they forgot to give my dog her heartworm prevention shot. yet I requested it and paid for it. When I found out I was furious. they tried to make it right by giving her a free shot. Then they kept sending me text and emails telling me that I was late the next year on the annual visit. I told them that due to their mistakes the prior year, I was waiting to get all shots back on the same schedule. my dog is on a prescription diet and they refused to approve an order of dog food from Chewy online stating that my dog was not current on vaccines. My dog is a small mixed 15 year old who is down to 9 lbs from being almost 20 lbs a few years back. I called and gave them a piece of my mind for the treatment received. Well, I received a letter in the mail stating that they were terminating our relationship and would no longer treat my dog. They said the matter was not life or death. I beg to differ. A 15 year old, 9 lb dog being deprived her food is a life or death situation. And now they keep bombarding me with mail, email and texts to bring my dog in. What is wrong with these people? We have moved on to another vet who switched her food and is putting weight back on her. Do not trust this vet clinic. They are horrible. read more

We have been bringing our pets here for almost 20 years and have had a wonderful relationship with so many of the staff. We even adopted two dogs that someone left with them. Since Dr Guidry left and national owners came in, the service has gone way down. You will be better off going elsewhere. read more

I visited this vet a year ago on xmas eve (only one open )my cat completely stopped eating and was uncontrollably urinating, the emergency fee on top of of it being a holiday fee left me with limited money for tests, the one test narrowed it down that she was in renal failure, they sent me home with fluids and no information that my cat would rapidly decline in 24 hours she couldn't walk or do anything else, She had to be put down, flash a year later I'm being called from this vet trying to book shots/ immunizations left a vm with the wrong name and calling her, a him, Unprofessional, this is an emergency vet that should've been on record of her condition that was clear she wasn't going to make it another day, why would she still be here a year later for an appointment!!?? Im upset and disappointed do better at keeping your records and maybe not call patients who saw you only for an emergency if you don't even have the proper information on file, disappointing. We wanted to take the time to let ALL the staff know how much we truly appreciate you. The friendly reception staff, Scout, and especially Dr. Linn--everyone was so caring. We are from MS and were down for a family Christmas weekend when our oldest Basset hound wasn't acting right. Off we ran to Northlake and we were shown compassion throughout the entire process. Dr. Linn discovered a (unknown to us) splenic tumor that was ruptured/leaking. Dr. Linn hugged us, explained everything, treated us like family, and performed emergent surgery on our ten year old baby. Surgery and recovery could not have gone better. She called us with the benign pathology results today. Thank you isn't enough, but we truly appreciate you all not just saving our pup's life--but treating these two super emotional strangers like family. I felt the need to leave this review to help someone else not go through what I went through with this doctor who I put so much trust and faith into for my toy poodle. The doctor that operated on my poodle did not do a thorough job at NorthLake Veterinary hospital. He completely convinced me that he had done many of the FHO surgeries and I believed he was competent. By 6 weeks after the surgery, my dog was supposed to be much better. I even asked questions during the 6 weeks and my dog had follow ups. At the 6th week of post-surgery recovery my dog was still in excruciating pain and the doctor did new x-rays. This was right before Thanksgiving. He told me the results showed bone spur growth , his knee was now out of place and that he may need to amputate my dog's leg! I took my dog to South Paws for immediate 2nd opinion, getting all of my dog's paperwork sent over. Apparently, the x-rays were not done properly at Northlake, bone was scraping on bone BUT there was no need to amputate the leg or do anything about the knee. I was advised by the excellent surgeon there to redo the badly done surgery ASAP. In conclusion, I ended up paying thousands and thousands of dollars for 2 surgeries when there should have only been 1 if done properly. On top of the money spent, my poor dog has been through so much pain and trauma. 6 weeks later, after the 2nd surgery, my beloved poodle is doing excellently, running and jumping on all 4 legs. I would not go back to Northlake! read more

I brought in my grandfather's 16 year old cat last week for a check-up. The cat hadn't been to a vet in 3 years, had lost a significant amount of weight since the last time I'd seen him, and just didn't seem as happy as normal. I brought Boukie (cat) and his records to Northlake Veterinary Hospital where Dr. Guidry spent a lot of time making friends with nervous Boukie prior to the physical, so he could do a better exam. Dr. Guidry suggested I leave Boukie behind in order to do a Senior Profile (blood work) since the physical was normal but he just seemed skinny and "off." Plus, we had no recent records to reference. Hours later, the vet phoned me to say that Boukie has pancreatitis and needed antibiotics and some observation. He held Boukie overnight and said they couldn't do annual shots for at least a week when Boukie felt better. A week later, I brought the cat into the clinic for his annual shots. I believe this shows how prudent Dr. Guidry is with pet patients because giving annuals to a sick cat, especially an elderly one, could have kill him. I really appreciate Dr. Guidry taking time to befriend Boukie before the exam and subsequent blood work. read more

My two dogs, and my mother's five, come here. Dr. Mauberret treated my six-year old boy (Hamlet) when he was sick and couldn't hold any food down. My twelve-year old boy (Tex) had an accident and needed stitches right before the office closed, and Dr. Guidry stayed late to make sure that he was taken care of. Tex has been groomed there, Dr. McQueen has helped us treat his skin allergies, and more recently we met a new doctor when we went in for their heartworm injections. He saw Tex's allergies on his old charts, and asked how they had been. That is how everyone at this practice is - they don't rush you, they are happy to answer questions, and they genuinely care about your pets. read more

I've never had a bad experience bringing my pets to Northlake Vet, my family has been using them since we moved to Mandeville in 1999. The entire staff is extremely friendly and they take such good care of my pets. I called this morning for my cat and they were able to get me in 30 minutes later. The vet was super helpful and gave me tons of useful information regarding my cats health. We've boarded our dogs here as well and have nothing but positive things to say about them. Rude front desk people. Boarded my two dogs here and they both were filthy when we picked them up. Looked like they were neglected the whole time. Short version: Good vet. Good staff. Had issues with other vets in area. Would and do recommend. Good for boarding. Our current rescue dog gets excited when we pass by or park at Northlake. She gets boarded there and seems happy when we pick her up. They send us pics of her throughout her stay. ONCE, we paid for a wash when we picked her up and they only dry washed her... some powder? That's the closest to an off experience we've ever had at Northlake. Our dog gets her yearlies, nails, etc here. She dances when the staff take her. Great staff, kind to our animals. A while back, a different rescue dog we had was seen by a local vet (not northlake) and handled roughly, to the point she would turn scared and act cornered when ever we parked at a vet. This was a docile dog until this event. Dr. Guidry made house calls and was able to gain the trust of fur baby. Could not give higher praises to the Doctor. Unfortunately, later, the same dog had to be put to sleep. Another doctor there helped to get through a tough time. We've seen several different docs at Northlake and have had zero issues. read more

We took our 6 month old puppy here after he began developing symptoms of pneumonia on a weekend. Every staff member that we interacted with was friendly, compassionate and professional. Dr. Mauberret is the best. Took care of my beloved Jake. 3 weeks ago diagnosed that he had a mass either Lymphoma or Thymoma. Never once did she say we had to put him down. She did everything for him to be comfortable just living with us. Just Tuesday April 27, 2021 he had fluid it was so fast, he passed on. Dr. Mauberret was so comforting. She called me the nxt day to check on me. Dr. Guidry was so gentle through the whole process. The staff is so friendly. I have been using them for 11 years. Idk what all the negative reviews are. I feel if you are being a certain way or exuding a negative attitude you're going to get that in return. The front desk always have been so pleasant. I will always use them until something negatively does happen, but so far I have been happy. read more

I brought my dogs to Northlake Vet for over 14 years. I had never use them to board because I would get a pet sitter. I boarded my dog and she came back with not only fleas but mites as well. The skin mites were not diagnosed until I went to a different vet. Meanwhile I racked up $500+ in vet bills at Northlake Vet. Save your $$$, don't board your dog here! read more
