After visiting this vet for a decade, it was time to move on. This may work for some but no longer…read moreworked for us. We've had 3 different dogs as patients at Riverview. They're never willing to answer questions over the phone, always seem to be a bother when you call, and prices have become inaccessible to most. It was a shame to move on, however, I don't think they will blink an eye as they never seem to remember who we are anyway.

My 9 year old Staffy had had a heart murmur since birth. Never had an issue with it until…read morerecently. She has been having labored shallow breaths for a couple of days. She couldnt get comfortable lying down. Classic signs of congestive heart failure. My normal vet did not have any openings for a week. I found this place during a google search. They got her in right away. They provided me a number of option and reccommendations. I decided to pay for the expensive stuff EKG, Ultrasound etc. They found exactly what I thought and immediatly gave her a lasix treatment to reduce the fluid retention. within hours she was breathing 100% better. The test showed Enlarged Heart, Glitchy Mitral valve and Congestive heart failure. The meds prescribed have worked great so far. She is on the schedule to see there cardiac specialist on 8/10. Yes it wasn't cheap, but you get what you pay for. This place is open 24/7. Of course the overhead is high. They have all the specialist and equipment you could ask for. I did have to wait longer than initially told. However, they are an emergency clinic! They prioritise the most sick or injured. Which I appreciate. If my waiting two hours longer than expected allows someone else's babies to survive than so be it.

I brought my pet here with severe pancreatitis. After already taking them to two separate vets in…read morethe last 24 hours. They charged me an exam fee before they even asked details about them and were shoving credit cards in my face before even showing me the bill. They gave me a bill. That was literally my entire life savings. And that was the amount before treatment. I asked if I could step outside. I went out there sobbing. And the nurse came out in the parking lot and said "look on the bright side, you have the money already so you don't even have to get one of our credit cards!" And then she said "I know what it's like to live pay check to pay check just like you are about to" I literally cannot think of a worse more inappropriate sentence to say to someone incredibly scared for someone they love. Who can't afford to give them the care they need I called my vet and stayed on hold for an hour. And then they told me I can get literally the same treatment tomorrow morning for 400 dollars. I went back inside told them I was leaving and they convinced me to do an ultra sound and then gave him fluids without telling me they were. Which I would have supported either way but they didn't ask I did ask them to give him pain medicine. And they didn't give him any pain medication until discharge. Which was two hours total with no pain relief I'm not saying they are all bad, they had some really nice nurses there. But the way things were handled and them not treating his pain are things I'm not ok with it is not the next day, they assured his ultrasound would be sent to my doctor first thing in the morning. which it was not. my vet said they would reach out and ask for the records but I'm really not counting on anything. we will see what they do though

If you're coming for cat products, you have some options, but not as much compared to the big chain stores. They even have a dog wash station! The self wash stations are available by appointment and also on a first come, first serve basis. The stations close at 6 pm Monday through Saturday and close at 4 pm on Sundays. Wash and dry time is limited to 30 minutes total per dog and costs about $15 per dog. Add on's (de-shed, for example) are available too. A rewards program is also offered in which you can obtain points and use them for a discount when a certain threshold in reached. Also, check their website for monthly promos, too! Lastly, we were also told they have two sister stores as well: Play Wash Pint (barks and brews) and Play Wash Stay (boarding and daycare). We look forward to checking out each one. Just love this place! Everything you need for your furry friends is here with exceptional staff, who are very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Suffice to say, even though I paid half a grand within three weeks I was able to get the assistance I needed outside of their four walls. I would suggest any run of the mill vet or make an appointment to see Dr. Smith. Hopefully you'll get better results. Also, before wasting any time going to their store, which they will refer you to for purchases you might want to save time and go elsewhere. After spending close to $300 I went downstairs to buy food and was ignored. I went to Nutrition World where I spent $200 and was helped by Stacie.

Through careful diet and holistic supplements we have been able to reduce her from 5 different hard core meds to one and that one is half what she was on. She's doing great, looks great and loves to go to CHAI to see her friends. Dr Smith is a truly caring and thorough vet that only wants the best for our girl. We cannot say enough good things about this place!

I miss this place so much…read more I found my dog Lucy after she was tossed out by some a-hole when she was about 6 weeks old. I brought her to Shallowford Animal Hospital at the suggestion of a friend and was blown away. It's very clean, the staff is kind and accommodating, and they definitely take advantage of 21st century technology, with computer in the exam rooms and a very convenient monthly automated billing system. Their wellness packages are totally comprehensive and very reasonably priced, especially since it meant that all her preventative services were included and would be taken care of. Their staff at the front desk are amazing, by the way - they have listened to me freak out hysterically after my dog was injured and have gotten me last minute appointments on more than one occasion, plus they are great with email correspondence which is oftentimes a lot more convenient for me. I have seen both Dr. Mabe and Dr. Bearden and found them both to be incredibly attentive and patient, which is helpful when you have a 50lb spaz dog like mine. I have also brought dogs to them that I have fostered, and I have recommended them to all my friends, even the ones who don't have pets. Sadly I had to move away for grad school, and I suspect my standards may be set a little too high after this since I'm not sure another vet will live up to the experience I've had here. But if I ever make it back to the Noog this will be one of our first stops.

I was early, and they did go ahead and put me in a room with my pet. Problem is it was a 1/2 hour past my appointment time, and I finally left the room and my pet to confirm my appt. I told them I'd wait another 15 mins (would have been 45 mins past my appt time). So, the front desk clerk (technician?) apparently went to the only doctor working that day, and the doctor said it's going to be more than 45 mins (past my appt time) -- maybe longer before I would get seen. Mind you, I arrived early and all my paperwork was complete. I told the tech that I'd go ahead and leave. They said, "Well, yes, we can make you another appointment." I said, "No, I won't be coming back here." I spent all that time doing the paperwork and packing my pet up to go to the appointment, and that's it. How would you feel if this happened to you? OK, I get it, you may have only one doctor there that day; however, you are all about texting/phoning the client, so, why didn't you give me text/call letting me know the situation (they had no shortage of people up front), and I could have rescheduled without having to go to the appointment, to only sit there all that time. My pet was in the carrier the whole time, and was more concerned about it than my time. There was no engagement with the techs up front. I had to do all the engaging and asking questions. Noone ever came to check up on me or anything until I started engaging with them (being proactive) 30 minutes into my wait. I will hopefully find a good, engaging, economical veterinarian for my pet, in the Chattanooga area. I will use Yelp to help me find the best that my pet deserves. I'm being generous giving two stars on this one.

I only went to Savannah, GA and drove as fast as I could to the kennel. Sign said no pickup until after 3pm. I'm there - they wouldn't let me go back to see her when they brought her out I noticed something was not right with her backside. I asked what happened to her? The girl looks at me and says I have no idea she goes but you did sign off on liability. At this time, I just wanna get Delilah home, but I wanted to come across the counter and ring her neck I looked at her and I said I signed off on liability, not negligence. You have veterinarians right next-door. Something happened to her and she should've been seen. After going to an emergency veterinarian in downtown Chattanooga $8000 later, my dog who just turned four in 2025 is handicapped. She has damage to her back vertebrae's and her anal sphincter. So in other words when she has to go poop, her little nub will go straight up in the air, I have to run to get her outside. She has no control. She also can't wag her nub anymore either I would never recommend this place and I have medical records to back up improve what I'm saying is the truth. I now have a dog that if I need to board her and I have found a boarding facility that I do love she has to wear a diaper. Biggest mistake I have ever made, and I have to live with this for the rest of my life. And unfortunately, so does Delilah.

They also let me visit her during the day since she stayed at the hospital overnight after each injection for observation. I witnessed all of the support staff loving on her. When I picked her up to come home, the veterinary staff spoke with me in detail on what post treatment symptoms to be aware of.
