My review isn't based off an emergency situation, so it's a tad different. However, the practice is clean and I was met with nothing but nice people. They honestly seemed a little over staffed because I was asked by six different people if I needed anything and why I was there. Any specialist is going to be expensive, but I don't think their prices are higher than any other facility of their caliber. The have an amazing blood bank that my dog donates to, so anything that gives back and gives dogs a chance to survive is a win for me.

Dr Zuvers and the technician were both so nice and skilled at their work! We were blessed to find them. When we were traveling back home to Florida, we needed urgent care for our 14 year old mini dachshund. We were so lucky to find them! In and out within an hour, and the price was very reasonable for emergency pet care. I highly recommend them!

VCA Regional Institute for Veterinary Emergencies and Referrals | Chattanooga, TN | (423) 698-4612…read moreMy family sought emergency veterinary care at this facility for our dog, who was experiencing abdominal distress. What followed was a pattern of escalating financial misrepresentation and questionable billing practices that I feel compelled to document in detail. Upon admission, we were quoted approximately $800 for an overnight observation following bloodwork that staff indicated showed no alarming findings. That figure was subsequently revised to $1,800 with no substantive explanation for the increase. We were then informed that emergency surgery was necessary at an additional cost of $2,800. Post-surgical discharge, which we were assured would occur the following day, was repeatedly delayed under shifting justifications characterized as precautionary in nature. To date, total charges have reached $10,600, with an additional $4,000 being held contingent upon complications arising from what appears to be a post-operative wound issue around the surgical incision site -- a complication that, in my assessment and that of legal counsel I have since retained, constitutes a facility-acquired condition for which the provider bears responsibility, not the patient's owner. When I raised this position directly with staff, I was told that my questioning of their clinical and financial judgment was causing them distress. I found this response both unprofessional and dismissive of legitimate concerns. I also wish to note that the CareCredit limit communicated to us was initially represented as $1,800. Once charges exceeded $5,000, that ceiling conveniently expanded -- a sequence of events I find difficult to reconcile as coincidental. Every invoice issued by this facility has come in at no less than double the original quoted amount. A review of the BBB complaint history, Google reviews, and Yelp feedback reveals this pattern is not isolated to our experience. Families are placed in an impossible position: secure whatever funds are demanded or risk losing their animal. That dynamic, in my view, warrants serious scrutiny. In response to Ashley T: I already tried emailing several of your companies listed emails including the one you just posted before ever posting a review. I've gotten zero response.

I had to choose a rating and couldn't honestly say I had a positive experience (3-5 stars). I am sorry to say that we lost our nine-year-old dog in her one and only emergency veterinary experience. My pet became very ill Thursday evening and we went to our veterinarian Friday morning at 10 am (first appointment available) to determine what treatment was required. After running tests the vet determined that our dog had a blockage in her intestine that required surgery. At our vet's recommendation I took my pet to Chattanooga Pet Hospital around 6 pm Friday evening. The veterinarian on duty at that time discussed the process and indicated she would perform the surgery around 11 pm. I contacted her assistant Saturday morning at 7 am to check in on my pet. At that time my pet was resting and had what appeared to be a successful surgery removing some material blockage in her intestine. That changed at 10:26 am on Saturday. A different vet called and reported that my pet had experienced a seizure. They had treated her and she was doing okay. At 11:45 am, I received a second call from the same vet reporting that my pet was in cardiac arrest for the second time. We discussed euthanasia and I agreed that I didn't want my pet to suffer anymore. My family arrived at the Chattanooga Emergency Hospital within the hour to say goodbye to our pet. Here are my lesson learned from this experience: 1. Do your own research on who treats your pets. I had no idea what the mortality rate is for this facility or the veterinarian that performed the surgery. I would have never let a doctor perform surgery on any family member but I failed to take the same precaution with my pet, shame on me. 2. Look at reviews and seek feedback from friends in the community on the local emergency pet hospitals facilities prior to selecting a facility. This is something you don't think about until you have an emergency. I hope you learn from my experience. 3. Consider pet insurance. Trust me, emergency care is expensive. The tests by our vet was nearly $600 and the emergency treatment was over $2200. In less than 24 hours we had spent $2800 and still lost our pet. I will be honest; it was difficult to pay $2200 to the emergency facility after just finding out my pet of 9 years was dead. I blame no one but myself. I should have better prepared and done my research. I hope that you learn from my mistakes and pray you never have the same experience.

I came to VEG early in the morning with my precious 16-year-old Shih Tzu, Huggy, who was going through a very serious condition involving tracheal collapse. After experiencing delay after delay trying to find veterinary care where Huggy could be seen, I finally came across VEG--and from the moment I arrived, everything was different. I was greeted at the door and welcomed with open arms. There was no judgment whatsoever about the delays we had experienced trying to get Huggy the care he desperately needed. Instead, their concern was simple: Huggy was there now, he needed help, and they were going to take care of him. The entire staff was inviting, professional, compassionate, and absolutely extraordinary. I was allowed to remain with Huggy throughout his care, which meant more to me than I can possibly express. They treated him with such tenderness, compassion, and love that I truly felt as though they were caring for one of their own. Most importantly, Huggy's well-being came first. His care was not about unnecessary procedures or adding charges simply because they could. They focused on what he actually needed and treated him immediately, with his comfort and health as their priority. That kind of integrity, especially when someone is frightened and vulnerable because their pet is seriously ill, means everything. And then there was Dr. Elizabeth Lowe. Dr. Lowe was extraordinary--a true blessing not only to Huggy, but to me as well. The care, compassion, knowledge, patience, and support she provided were exemplary in every possible way. She didn't just treat my dog; she understood how deeply loved he is and how frightening this situation was for me. I will never forget what she did for us. To every doctor, technician, staff member, and person at VEG who played a role in Huggy's care: thank you from the bottom of my heart. Every one of you matters, and every one of you contributed to the care that helped my precious Huggy. I truly believe that without this incredible team doing what they do so exceptionally well, my Huggy might not still be here with me. There are simply no words big enough for what that means to me. If you ever find yourself needing emergency veterinary care and want to know that your pet will be treated with exceptional medical care, comfort, compassion, dignity, and genuine love, please bring them to VEG. I would not hesitate for a second to trust them with an animal I love. Thank you with my whole heart, VEG Alpharetta. You don't just raise the bar for emergency veterinary care--you have mastered the highest bar. Forever grateful, Huggy's Mom

They assessed him and gave us our options. When they removed the mass, they gave us detailed instructions on aftercare and encouraged us to call if we had any follow up questions. On the third day, the swelling had gone down, so I made an appointment with the regular vet. They got a blood sample from her leg, and under 10 minutes later, told me the sample was cancer-free. Her leg simply had an infection of some kind. The leg healed. Our dog is fine. I get there and there are a few techs running around, they looked at me and my boyfriend and walked back into there rooms. It was about 15-20 minutes later someone finally came out and i was told to fill out paperwork so I did and they took my cat (Ranch) back. There was a dog that was having seizures about 12am so they focused on that dog before (which i understand he didnt look good at all). We waited and waited around about 2am we were pulled to a room to wait for the diagnosis. The tech came in a few times and then finally the Vet doctor came in and said she believes that our cat has bobcat fever. We of course tried to ask more information and she recommended we use two antibiotics to try and fight it. We signed the papers and paid the $3,000 to have him stay the night. The thing is they only had one antibiotic not both so I was told by the doctor to order it online (from THIER website) and it will be here monday.... I order it because I wanted any chance I had to save Ranch. As we are leaving I asked the tech checking us out if it was important to have both medicines and what his chances were, she replied with "well its real important to have both im not sure what his chances are without the other one"...and so im now sobbing more knowing that monday won't be enough time and we go home at 3am and leave Ranch in their care. Saturday rolls around and we both work, my boyfriend, the more logical out of us, told me to call them to see if a near by pharmacy has the medicine. I call them and they take 3 hours to call me back and say they found a pharmacy that has it. I leave work early and go get the medicine and go to the hospital to drop it off. They look at me in shock and the lady at the counter goes "is that for us? We dont normally take outside meds" to which I explain i called the doctor and ranch needed the medication as soon as possible. She takes the medicine and I ask if I can speak with the doctor. She says yes and for me to wait, after 2 hours I got to go back into a room and talk to the doctor. The doctor pretty much just looked at me. I asked how was ranch doing, what were we thinking, if the medicine is going to help. And all I got was "well we will see if it does anything but hes really suffering so im not sure"....Im now confused as shes been with him all morning she would know how he is doing. Any information would of helped. I visit ranch (he looked worse) and before i leave i ask about a refund on the medication I ordered from THEIR WEBSITE for him(that I spent $150 to order and when I bought it from CVS it was $35) they looked at me like I had three heads and followed up with "I didnt even know we had a website for medication" so I leave my name and number and the order number for them to talk to a manager? I asked this question to two techs and the doctor and they all were confused. I get a call sunday morning 10am stating that he isnt doing better but worse and I had 3 options, leave him at the hospital, take him to UT for a blood transfusion or put him down. I wake my boyfriend up and we go to the hospital. We rush in and tell them we are here for ranch and they go to the back rooms telling us to wait. We wait an hour and get put in a room where we wait another hour just to see the doctor again. She explains the three options that she stated over the phone. I ask what is his likely hood of living with a blood transfusion, what would be the cost, how was he doing now was he eating and she responded with "im not sure if a blood transfusion would help or not, im not really sure, and he isnt eating at all." So I ask more questions and her biggest response was "im not sure" so I told her to send the records to UT and we will see about the blood transfusion. Before we leave they told.us we were getting a refund of $900 and then somehow decided to put what they did that morning now only refunding us $600. I again asked about my refund on the meds and the new tech was confused and said she would talk to her manager. We left for UT and they took ranch in and told us It was a very small percentage he was going to live, they gave us options but said they wouldnt last forever. Giving us the answer we didnt want but needed. We had to put Ranch down at UT. Tuesday I then called them as the package arrived at my house on TUESDAY at 5:45pm not Monday as it stated. I call the this hospital and they said they would take my information down and ask a manager I then stated that ive been told that a couple times and id like to get a sure answer. She said "we will give you a call back" I get a call back in about 10 minutes and someone (im not sure who maybe the doctor) said "oh we dont do refunds on medication" but she did say she will try to contact the website to see if there was anything they would be able to do..... I had the worse experience here

Overpriced Rude…read moreGreedy At first things were fine. We were listened to, greeted, comfortable, and confident this was a good emergency vet when our Labrador had blood coming from "the attic and the basement." The staff seemed to really care and empathize because I was hysterical and worried. Things were fine until The front office girl brought us in an estimate for services. It was over $1000 to have tests run on our dog that were very simple test like a pancreatitis test, and a CBC. I know there aren't cheap, but when she showed me the bill, I freaked out because our rent is due tomorrow. When I was Hesitant about the amount being $1000. I was looking over the bill asking questions on how we could save money but still get the test that were absolutely necessary. I wanted to do one test before moving onto the next one instead of doing all of these separate tests and charges at once. I apologize and explained to her that this would come out out of my rent money and I had to figure out what to do so I was trying to be cautious. She turned into an instant c-word. She was nasty and hostile and dismissive. I was trying to explain to her that this was so much information at one time unexpectedly because it felt like they were trying to bombard us with all of these charges and fees, and they might not all be necessary. I wanted a moment to look at them. She talked down to me as if I were stupid or a shitty pet owner. She had zero empathy and was probably the worst human being I've ever met in that moment. As we were checking out, she tried sucking up to my roommate by being flirty and rolling her eyes at me. I don't know who she is, but I hope to Have a conversation with her out in the real world. I let her know before I left that if she ever talked to someone like that again, I hope they sent her for an estimate at the Emergency Dentist. I can tell by the reviews on Google that they are either fake reviews to keep a positive rating and aren't real customers or they pay to have the negative reviews with are truthful scrubbed off of their ratings. So I doubt this will matter, because it's obvious another business that exploits customers when they're in desperate situations. I plan to search all social media and Post on legitimate review website websites and let people know what a POS vet office this is. The vet was okay-ish but the little phone answering girl ruined for all of us. And almost got her teeth rearranged.
