We bring our cats for a long time to this clinic and they have been there for us. Around Christmas beautiful, good boy Thomas has come to our balcony and he decided to adopt us. He came and he never left. All he wanted was love. We took him and care for him. Riverview was there for us. I wish I could give them less than one star. We have been coming to this vet for the past 3 years. In the past, they were amazing to our cats. Key word is "were." One of our cats developed bacterial pneumonia. We spent close to $1,000 dollars on an oxygen chamber and another $800 getting Lilly treated with Riverview. Antibiotics, steroids and Oxygen were the treatment plan. We were told by the doctor on call (Dr. Ray) that we could bring her back in for oxygen if needed, because they wouldn't prescribe us Oxygen at home, to rent a chamber., initially! After the medication was finished, her pneumonia came back within days. I called on a Sunday when I could see her struggling and asked to bring her in for Oxygen, as I was planning to overnight a chamber on Monday to our home. Barbara told me that they couldn't do that, even though we were told they would as part of her treatment plan. I called Barbara again on Monday, and begged them to put her in the Oxygen chamber for just a few hours so she could rest and have help breathing. I again asked for the oxygen prescription. They wrote an oxegyn prescription so I could order the machine, but they refused to let me bring her in for a few hours of oxygen. I called again and begged them. She told me to bring my cat in and they would "evaluate" and give her a vitamin B shot and consider the oxegyn. I took her out in the cold and stressed her out, drove her 30 mins to get there. Barbara never came out. They took my cat into the back and gave her a vitamin B shot, then returned her to me and my crying children. They told us they can't give her oxygen and to take her to an ER. EVEN THOUGH I HAD ALREADY PAID THEM TO TREAT HER. I told them I couldn't afford an ER visit, too. The lead tech Amy came out and LIED to me, telling me she was the "office a manager" and that they don't can't give her Oxygen, and that she would be "talking to the Dr." who told me we could do this. Even though I have paperwork just 2 weeks prior where we paid their office to put her in the oxygen chamber, which helped her greatly. I asked the "office manager" if I should put her down, as I didn't want her to suffer. She told me that was "on me" and wouldn't advise. I cried to the "office manager" Amy, who told me with a stone cold face that she couldn't help my cat. She had no emotion, no compassion, no care for our cat. I told her I couldn't afford the ER, plus the visit with them plus the Oxygen machine. The machine was $500, the oxegyn was $250 and then I paid $282 to overnight the machine. I was only wanting a few hours that day, until our machine arrived. Again, she sternly refused. The "office manager" Amy held no empathy in her eyes, her voice was unsympathetic and irritated and she was insanely rude and acted like we were the problem. What's worse, Barbara never even came out to talk with me, and Amy acted like she was above Barbara, even though she asked me to come in. All this while my 3 children cried and begged for them help our cat. Our Lilly girl died in the late evening hours, and was no longer able to breathe on her own. She died a very slow and agonizing death. The oxygen chamber arrived the next morning, but she was already gone. Her lungs collapsed, and she could no longer do it on her own. I have to now pay to send the oxegyn chamber back, and the company keeps a 20% restocking fee. This vet prescribed us oxygen, they gave my cat vitamin B, antibiotics, steroids, but wouldn't give her any oxygen which is what she needed the most. We had always had a reassurance that Riverview would fight to save our cat's lives. I found out the next morning that the lead vet tech was not in fact the Office Manager, and had lied to us. The office manager Barbara, never even bothered to come out. I assume she sent Amy to do her job and tell me "no" one we arrived, even though she told me to come. They don't care about saving lives anymore. Now it's just about politics and money, sadly. I'll never come back here. My children's hearts are completely broken, and our cat did not need to suffer in this way. read more

Story of how my healthy 5yr Lab died at the hands of Riverviews negligence. I hope this helps you make a better choice for your pet's care. I wish I would have had that opportunity before bringing him to this vet and Dr.Lewis. My dog Maverick went in for 2 routine procedures the morning of August 3, 2023. He was having surgery on the extra skin on his eyes and a neuter. I dropped him off at Riverview Animal Hospital at 8:30am. He was supposed to start his procedures at 1pm. At around 5:30pm I called to check on how he was going, since I hadn't heard from them. They said he had just finished his neuter and was starting the eye surgery and for me to pick him up at 6:45pm. When I arrived at 6:45pm Maverick was extremely out of it, couldn't walk, and had to be carried out to my car by 2 vet assistants. Dr. Lewis told me that Maverick would go home and sleep through the night. I was not given any post procedure care information or signs to look for if a problem was to occur. I was told to offer him a pain pill if he seemed in pain and start his other meds the next morning. Once home I checked on him every hour and he just slept. He slept through night and didn't move much,I assumed the medication they gave him really knocked him out. At around 8:30am he then let out 4 loud cries and I ran to check on him and his breathing was very very shallow. He stiffened his legs and when I lifted his head, his tongue was hanging limp out of the side of his mouth. I screamed for my daughter to come help him and a complete panic set in. We both carried him to the car as fast as we could, called the vet. My daughter tried to do CPR on him in the car and he was not responding and passed away on our way to the vet. When we arrived Dr. Lewis came to speak with us and said she had no idea what had happened but that she would do an assessment to see if she could find anything. Our healthy full of life 5yr Lab came in for a routine procedure and died the next morning. We left the office completely in shock and utterly heartbroken. Nothing made any sense. And we were looking for answers. On Monday August 7th, 2023 we went to meet with Dr.Lewis to see if there was anything she found as to why this happened to our healthy boy. When we arrived we first asked for all of his records, pre surgery blood work and surgical log. Dr. Lewis told us that Maverick had internal bleeding and that was what caused his death. Dr. Lewis was very rude and argumentative with the hard questions we were asking her. Once we received the surgery log and we saw the major cause of concern. Maverick was extubated (tubes taken out after surgery) at 6:20pm with a body temp of 98.7F and then put in my car at 6:45pm. Dr Lewis also lied to us and told us Maverick was monitored for 2 hours post op. When we saw the surgical log we could clearly see she had lied to us. They did not observe him for more then a few mins before carrying him to the car. After all of our research we know that most deaths occur post procedure from complications which is why post op care and observation is so important as well as bringing the pets body temperature back to 101F. Sadly our Maverick didn't receive any of this care. They didn't even tell us what to look for if there were complications. They sent home Maverick who was having complications and we didn't even know. If he had been observed the stander 3hrs they would have seen something was very wrong. We are still in shock at what happened to our sweet boy Maverick, and devastated by the negligence of his care. I hope no pet or family has to suffer the trauma this has caused for us. No words can describe the traumatic imprint of seeing your pet lifeless over such negligences. Dr Lewis and her team were unethical, unprofessional and negligent. I ask you to please protect your pets from this horrible Vet Hospital and of Dr. Lewis. read more

While visiting family and friends in Chattanooga, my fur companion Cleo's back muscle tear seemed to be more painful and accompany other symptoms so I took her to see Dr Kolb at Riverview Animal Hospital. She was the emergency vet on duty. When we lived in Chattanooga, I transferred Cleo's records to this animal hospital since we lived close by and I had heard good things about this place from volunteers and staff at the Humane Society. Dr Kolb was sincerely kind and caring as well as thorough. Everything you'd want in a creature doctor. She paid close attention to Cleo's symptoms and ordered lab work and X-rays in-house to determine possible severity. Once available, she walked me through the lab work results and we looked at the X-rays together while she walked me though what everything meant on them. Medicines specifically suited for Cleo's age was prescribed. Once back home, she followed up with a call to check on Cleo. She's also available for house calls. I highly recommend this vet practice and Dr Kolb be your creature friend's primary doctor. read more

Leaning btw four and five stars. Absolutely fabulous experience but since it was Luke's first, I will go with four (still comparing them to my favorite place in Atlanta). Also, this will say "Frist To Review" but that only means first for their new/current location. So, check out the old spot for other Yelpers' reviews! Luke needed a place to stay two weeks ago when I moved as he is not so much help with boxes and the like, and is better having a little vacation. Our groomer rec'd it and now I know both they and Riverview are solid! Great people, awesome dog run, lots of personal attention plus time for activity. Much less expensive than I am used to in Atlanta (I think under $30/night!!) and as good or better care as at the places there. Luke is an easy dog, but he especially took to this place quickly and I know he was more than fine while I was gone. Their vet side is good as well, as I needed them to check out a little, um, rear scratching issue that had recently started and they handled it deftly. Since I work at a restaurant with often crazy hours - like 5pm to 5am the next day on weekends - I imagine I'll be getting L a day or two of a staycation there over football season! read more

I am so frustrated with this place! The vet doesn't listen and just keeps prescribing the same medication for my cat which DOES NOT WORK. He has allergies and we know this for a fact because we have seen his reaction to pollen when we open our windows or to dust when we pull out dusty boxes. They just won't listen and want us to keep giving him the same antibiotic now FOUR times. Plus they over charge. AND not to mention my cat DIED in their care when he was being boarded for a week. My guess is that they didn't give him his heart meds which were working amazingly well until we boarded him. I'm not bringing my cats here again. read more

We were very disappointed with their service. It was time to put our precious little dog down. Having been a customer for many years, We were shocked at their prices for the service. $200 is ridicules. When we told then that was way above what we could afford they said they would call us back. We waited 4 days and never heard a word from them. Our little boy suffered fur those 4 days. Finally I called another vet who did the job or #$72, Everyone is entitled to make a profit, but they are not entitled to prey on such difficult time, like the final moments of our pets life. Comments Riverview has always placed the health of my pets first, and not how high they can run the bill up, which is absolutely appalling that I must say that, but the vet office closest to my home always seemed to find $1,000-1500 worth of things wrong every single HEALTHY CHECKUP. They even diagnosed my dog with heart worms, only to be disproven by Riverview. They had a patient for life. I didn't tell them at first, just asked for a checkup w/ heart worm test. Absolute best place to take your pup!! My dog is super timid at times and gets nervous but the staff here is always so sweet and never pressures her to do anything. They understand she's nervous and never discriminate because of her breed and I couldn't ask for a better staff. From the moment you walk in, the front desk is so nice and always greets me so kindly. The vet (I can't ever pronounce her name) is so kind and she even suggested coming by to allow my dog to become more familiar and comfortable. I don't think I'll ever go to another veterinarian and I usually always recommend this one. We recently moved to Chattanooga with our three cats and I was nervous about finding as good of a vet than we had back home. One of our cats, Scooter, has special needs and he can be a challenge to handle. In the past, one veterinarian would only look at Scooter if he was under sedation (which I refused and found a new vet). Today we had a house call to give them their booster shots and do a checkup, and while it took a few minutes to get Scooter out from under the bed, they were so gentle and loving with him. Because of his special needs and how scared he was, Scooter peed a lot and they took the extra time to help clean him up for me! They did a great job with my other two cats as well, so much so that one wanted the vet to pet his belly right after he got his shot, haha! Not only were they gentle with our cats, I felt like my questions were answered, and that they were very professional and friendly. We had previously taken our cats in to the actual hospital for a checkup and shots, and that was an overall positive experience as well. I got a great vibe from all the people that work there, and most importantly they took amazing care of our boys. read more

I'd give them 6 stars if I could. Honesty is the #1 factor here. They have a great facility, superb staff, and excellent Doctors. Just an all around great place to take your furry family members, and they are honest about all of their work! My dog just recently had some problems that appeared to be serious, and consequently costly. Being that I'm not a veterinarian, they could've told me he was pooping unicorns and the medicine costs $500 and I would've gone for it - but the doctor (Dr. Kolb) weighed out all the options, took some time to see my dog and informed me it was nothing serious at all and would be a quick fix - left the clinic paying only around $60! I'd say for any consumer, honesty is a huge factor in who you do business with - trust Riverview, they won't let you or your fuzzy friends down! read more

I absolutely love this animal hospital and boarding facility. Both of my dogs actually look forward and to their vet visits and boarding. When we come in the team greets our pets by name and shower them with love. They provide excellent and honest care that doesn't break the bank. When our dog had an allergic reaction while boarding they treated her immediately and made sure to call us with plenty of updates. We're moving out of town and only hope that we could find a new vet as good as this one! read more

The doctors are SO knowledgeable and really spend time fully checking your pet. I used to live in Chattanooga and after moving to Atlanta I still drive my two pets up here once a year for their annual checkup. If anything serious ever were to happen, I would never make a decision without a second opinion from these guys. Tai Federico owns the practice and has a staff of incredible doctors. When boarding your pets, you should look at another option. So sad to discover that Riverview staff, not the practice manager nor doctors, admitted they "dropped the ball" when caring for our cat as evidenced by notations in the kennel log. Failing to follow their own, procedures, our cat suffered for two days while in their charge. We picked him up and they failed to mention that their log and kennel staff recommended he be seen by a vet, 48 hours prior. He was so weak, we returned the next day for treatment, but he was unable to recover from the neglect. There is no way of knowing if he could have continued, had the Riverview staff taken action. We do know, their lack of communication and attention to detail contributed to his immediate decline and he suffered at their hand. When boarding your pets, understand that Riverview may not be the safest option. read more

I have only been here once, but I had a good experience with them. My cat became very ill, and I was unable to get into my regular vet. They were able to work my cat in the same day. Shame on you Dr. Federico. My elderly dog was clearly neglected by the kennel staff at Riverview. During the five day stay, my dog was not fed - as nearly the entire bag of food was returned to me. (10 of 12 scoops were still in the bag) My dog was extremely weak and I had to rush her to the emergency hospital where it was confirmed that she had a serious gastrointestinal condition that most likely occurred while at Riverview. In addition to severe pancreatitis, she had scalding burns all on her side from lying in urine. There were several requests for the kennel records to help diagnose my dog and Riverview ignored them. After an apparent 'internal investigation' Dr. Federico tells me that their records showed that my dog was fed her own food and she was cared for. What a cover up! And to make matters worse, he tells me that I must be mistaken and that I should talk to the vets at the emergency hospital to better understand her condition. As if I had no idea how to take care of my sixteen year old dog. The vets at the hospital provided excellent care as well as very helpful advice as to legal action and formal complaints against Dr. Federico and the kennel staff at Riverview. What a disgusting display of animal neglect and disrespect for your customers. read more

I was taken in on an emergency basis as there were no appointments open for this day. I saw a vet, my dog was diagnosed and treated, and I was out of there in less than an hour.
