I love that place, but today ...I had different lady there and she was "helping " us .Was so rude. Feels like she was pushing us to buy an expensive staff! I took a picture to show my husband it was $70 item .I really wanted to buy it, and I decided to ask him if he will be ok with it .. if color looks good on our dog. But, that lady just yelled at me...NO PICTURES!Nooo pictures at the store! Also,she was trying to feed my dog.She had no gloves on her hands and she was putting a little chunks of some meaty-watery consistency straight on the floor. Are you serious??? It's COVID-19. Shani is brilliant and knows animals better than some veterinarians I have taken my dogs to. Our youngest dog was a failure to thrive puppy and with her knowledge and advice within a week of her food and supplement regimen she was gaining weight and is a healthy 4 year old. 12 years ago with a new puppy we went into animal house and they treated us like family. Our pup developed a liver shunt and they helped us find the right food to help him not develop another. Any time we need expert advise they are our first stop. 13 years later, for a pup they said would not live past 8, he is still going strong. Yesterday we took #2 in with us to get some shampoo and an itch cream for a bite. Out we walked with intended purchase and some food samples because they could tell he was having difficulty with anal sacs. Going back today to get more food because pup #2 is feeling great! AMAZING PEOPLE! Only the best dog food, Liz researches everything before putting them on the shelves. Pet friendly businesses are always a plus one star for me! She is great, has helped me with many questions and even gave me a little discount when short on UPC tags. I make the hour drive once a month strictly for the fantastic customer service. The dog food is pricy, but you shouldn't be giving your dog cheap dog food if it's not good for it. It's a family member, not just a pet. Animal House is the best small pet shop in the Ocean City/Somers Point area. High quality products, high quality people, every day, all year round. They LOVE having animals come in the store. The ceiling is papered with photos of furry friends and their humans paying visits to the shop. They stock pet products as well as pet-themed products for people. Toys, treats, food, sweaters, leashes, collars, and several other types of products. The pricing is typical of Ocean City, everything's a little more expensive than you'd pay off island. The downside to this place is it's really focused on dogs, with some secondary emphasis on cats. If you don't have a dog or a cat, it's probably not the pet shop for you. read more

After moving from California to NJ I had a really hard time finding local pet stores that carry raw cat food and I really didn't want to sacrifice my 10 year old, Persian cat's diet after years of eating only raw food. Yup, what they said. WE LOVE going into the store with Oscar, our Toller. They all treat Oscar very special and he has the run of the place, much to our dismay. All of the products are very high quality and while we're not made of money, we don't blink at their prices. This is clearly a good example of you get what you pay for. I remember when we first got Oscar, my son bought him a toy here. Not only does he love it, Oscar's a chewer and this darn toy is outstandingly durable. MUCH better quality than anything else we've found, regardless of price. Also just a great place to stop in and chat but we always manage to buy something for Oscar. read more

One Loud Shout Out to Shani at ANIMAL HOUSE Pet Store in O.C. After a torturous 3 months for my 14 year old golden retriever and buddy Jake that included having his tail amputated and having diarrhea (side effects) from a combination of the drugs that were given plus the stress the amputation gave him it has finally stopped and he has returned to regular stools. It got to the point with Vet visits and changes in food including the homemade dishes of rice and chicken that nothing worked. As soon as I tried giving any dog food his soft stools turned backed to watery diarrhea. I decided to visit the Animal House because Shani deals in nutrition. Following her recommendations using homeopathic Digestive drops and probiotics we were able to get him back to normal stools in just 3 days.. Jake acts happier and you bet we are. So I'm not a huge reviewer on here and I'm sure most review because they had either an amazing or terrible time somewhere. My experience at the animal house is most definitely the former. I went in there twice this week for a number of varying items from a blinker to put on a leash to deworming treatment. I dealt with 3 different people and they all spoke so knowledgeably about the products you would think they created them. They have a true passion for animals and when I've gone in there before my dog loves playing with their dog Gizmo. I love how dog friendly it is in there. I suggest bringing your dog in first on a leash as you never know what two dogs will have an issue. You would never expect every human to like every single other human so you can't expect it with dogs. Anyway, getting back on topic, this place has everything you need productwise and the thing most other places don't, a full staff of knowledgable friendly caring people. read more

Love this store. Daughter has a golden retriever and has allergies. Dr wanted her to put her dog on prescription dog food. I went into the store and spoke to the owner. When my daughter came to the shore with her dog we went in to see the owner and she recommended Nature Logic duck and salmon which he has been on for. 7 years now. When my daughter took her dog back to her vet he commented on how good her dog looked. So glad I found this store. Has great products. Treats you can not find in the chain stores. The thing that makes this pet shop stand out from all the others is the Owner. Shani is the most knowledgeable resource for holistic, raw diet, supplements for your pet that you can find. She amazes me. Her first step is to get to know your dog outside and in. I could go on and on but Shani got my 13 y/o dog off of Vet recommended foods (Sci Diet) and on to air dried raw and my dog, over these last 3 years, acts like she's 7 or 8. Additionally Shani trains her staff and she's a tough task master. You are in excellent hands when you visit her store. OH, I forgot to tell you about all of the cute and upscale products for your pet that you will not find at the big box pet stores OR most mom and pop pet stores. ABSOLUTE RIP OFF. Save your money and go somewhere else. This business knows the majority of their customers are tourists. They spend a week down at the shore and don't feel like leaving the island to buy some pet supplies. So what does this shop do? They inflate their prices. They will tack on an additional $10 to an item just because they know people will pay because it's too convenient to shop somewhere else. I called them out on their inflated prices and got kicked out of the store. They didn't appreciate me asking them why their prices are almost double than other pet stores. If you're traveling to Ocean City, NJ make sure you bring enough dog supplies with you because if you shop at Animal House you are being scammed. read more
