This is a great concept and location for a cat rescue facility. They have a large room where cats live with lots of beds and toys, and for the most part happily roam freely without any cages (some small cats and kittens are in large cages), and seem to all get along with each other. You can look into this area from 2 windows. If you are interested in adopting a cat, you can watch him/her and then spend time with him/her in the room. The store takes donations of many types of items to sell in order to raise money for the cat rescue: books, games, dishes, dolls, pictures, knick-knacks, antique boxes and figurines, kitchen items, ornaments, furniture, etc. Some of the items are really nice and high-end. They are all neatly and pleasantly displayed in the store. Also, they sell cold bottles of water for $1. Give them a break if you walk in and smell a little bit of "cat". The place seems very clean but when you have that many litter boxes, they cannot all be pristinely clean at all times! The only negative thing I can say about this place, and I only say it so it can be used as constructive criticism is this: the woman/volunteer?/owner? who seems to be at the front counter a lot, is very unfriendly and has a mean face on all the time. That is not the way to get people to come into the store or stay in the store; and hopefully buy something or adopt a cat! It makes people feel unwelcome and want to leave. Please try to smile and at least say thank you and please, pretend to be pleasant. Come here and buy something to support this local cat rescue or donate an unwanted item. It will make you feel good! I have always had pets and when I had an issue with a cat I adopted from here and unfortunately had to surrender him they said there was nothing they could do, even though the adoption papers said if I have any problems return to them. I had to take him to the S.P.C.A. and pay the fee for surrendering. When they found out that I dropped him off they went and picked him up. To top it off they posted on Social media that he was surrendered through no fault of his own and bashed me on Social media! As if it didn't upset me enough to give him up but to see all of the negativity that they said was horrible. read more

A good concept, on paper, maybe. This store is full of old cast-offs and lots of cats. The cleanliness of the cat area is questionable. The women who either work or volunteer at this place are the most miserable I've ever encountered. Very few places like this in the area. It is a great place for the cats and the visitors. The staff is terrific, the facility for the cats is second to none. It is a great place to find a kitten to an adult cat for your home. The cats make great additions to the family. Additionally, their store is full of great items some are even hidden gems. I wish I had read more about this place before I visited. They rescue cats with issues/terrible lives/poor situations and integrate them in a space where they are mostly loose among other cats...who have been there up to 10 years. (I should have wondered why there were so many cats that had been there unadopted for so long) The animals really don't get a chance to unlearn fear and get comfortable with humans. I was told it would take months for my adopted cats to come out of hiding in my home. That's not right. I do not recommend. read more

Beautiful animal rescue facility. The front is a beautiful Store with all kinds of high end things that have been donated by animal lovers to help raise money for the animals being rescued there. There is a window in the store where you can view the amazing felines that are looking for loving homes. All the people that I have met there have had huge hearts filled with love for animals. Please if you live anywhere around Ocean City New Jersey, you have to stop by and check this place out. You can get some terrific buys on some amazing items available in the store, bring some things to donate to the store or just go look around and have some fun. It was a horrible experience. I would not recommend this to anyone. We showed up with our granddaughter to adopt a cat. We received a distinct feeling that for some reason we were not suitable as a pet owner when we initially walked in. After selecting one my wife had to fill out a three page form and we were told that we would be notify if we were approve to adopt a stray. When we returned to pick up our cat we were informed that we could not take the cat without a cat carrier. We were not inform of this prior to going over to Mew for You. We went back and picked up a carrier and when we returned the person in charge would not give us the cat because for some reason she thought we were not trustworthy to own a pet. Both my wife and I have had numerous pets for many years. This type of attitude is at best bewildering and at worst degrading. read more

Every experience I have had with this establishment has been uncomfortable and unprofessional. The employees are rude, dismissive and patronizing. If they don't like you from the beginning you will not be getting a cat. My grandmother adopted from here and they denied my mom despite her history of fostering cats with her years before. They don't even respond well in situations where you need help getting the cats rescued! Extremely unhelpful and snarky. Also be careful posting bad reviews on facebook because they will accuse you of being a liar and your home of being unfit for animals. The only reason I can justify giving this one star is because I genuinely hope they love those fur babies. read more

Nice little shop with knick knacks and various cat related items. good prices too. my only "complaint" (if you wanna call it that) is that I asked to see a particular cat up close. I was immediately asked if I was approved or if I'm adopting. the sign on the window for that cat said "ask to see me" so I did. I just was confused because why have a sign saying that if you ask, you can see, only to be rebuffed and turned away? it would be different if I had to sign a waiver or approval form, or to be gently explained the rules, but my quiet question was met with defensiveness. otherwise nice shop, I did buy several things too and probably would go back. maybe I'm an idiot and should know the rules? lol. sheesh though. read more

I first came across this rescue organization when I walked into the shop and saw a rescued kitten who had been abused, ears burned off with cigars and half the tail cut off. I later began to volunteer on my vacations. I am impressed with the care of all the animals. Every day the dishes and bedding are changed and cleaned. The litter is cleaned daily and, often the boxes are cleaned as well. I should know, I am the one who does those jobs when on vacation - I can't go into the cat rooms, I am allergic to cats. read more

They took an orphaned kitten that the mama left out on my back porch. Which was wonderful. I thought the place was great with wonderful volunteers and I gave a non monetary donation. They insisted on coming out to trap a small colony of cats that lived in the woods near my house that I noticed after moving in to my new house. What happened after was a nightmare. The trapper was only capable of taking 1 to 2 cats per week, so the trapping lasted several weeks. The trapper would not notify me before she came unless I contacted her first. At one point she said she was coming at lunch and then didn't show up at all. It became a constant battle to figure out my schedule and if I should even feed the cats on that day, because they had to be hungry for surgery. On top of that the trapper was a bully with a really bad attitude complete with guilt trips about why she even needed to be there. I guess I was suppose to spend thousands of dollars to trap these cats and pay full price to have them fixed even though I am a limited budget. She also bad mouthed the owner of Mew to You. I couldn't take it anymore and asked her to leave my property. The trapper then told me her best friend worked in animal control and she would have her "GET ME". This soured me on the entire place. They might do good work, but the this volunteer obviously forgot why they even existed. Maybe they are just over worked I do not know, but one of the cats are pregnant. OH well. read more
