Dr Dana and Heidi are extremely patient and caring with our dogs and cats. Dana is the most reliable, compassionate and considerate vet I have ever known. Other vets charge for every little thing they do. For example, a lot of vets charge $15 to clip nails. Dana does it as a courtesy. WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) -- A Williamson County veterinarian is accused of animal cruelty after an English Bulldog boarded at her clinic had to be euthanized. The owners of 5-year-old Jax said he was healthy when they dropped him off at the Animal Wellness Hospital at 4213 Farm to Market Road 3349 in Taylor on March 13. Surveillance video from that day showed he was fine. When they picked him up March 20, he had sores all over his body -- including ones that had progressed to holes in his skin. He couldn't walk and was covered in urine, Williamson County Sheriff's Office said. The owners rushed him to another vet that day, but he had to be euthanized. Detectives searched the veterinary hospital and "found strong, foul odors, feces, urine puddles, urine-soaked clothing, uncapped used syringes, and loose medications. Detectives observed animals being kenneled and boarded in these conditions, as well as a lack of food and water." Officials removed animals from the clinic and, while some were initially taken to the Williamson County Animal Shelter, all were reunited with their owners. Dr. Dana R. Boehm, the clinic's owner, turned herself in to the Travis County Jail Wednesday. By Thursday afternoon she had bonded out. KXAN left her a message and will update this story when she responds. I never leave negative reviews but after much thought I decided to go ahead. My dog has Addison's disease & was being treated monthly by Dr Boehm. She took a turn for the worst & was admitted to this facility for 3 days. They called & told me my dog was in renal failure but could come home. Although this was confusing I went to put her up & she looked terrible! They claim she was fine, up & wagging tail before I got there. I told them I needed a second opinion & took her to another vet. The new vet took bloodwork & said my dog was not in renal failure but a full blown "Addison's Crisis" on verge of death. They said there was no signs of her Addison's meds in her bloodwork. They indicated that either the previous vet had not been giving the monthly shot or was using an expired medication. Three more days later & no thanks to Dr Boehm, my sweet fur baby was home & happy!! read more

Dr. Boehm is a very nice person and I think she's mostly well-intentioned, but she is not a good veterinarian. Unfortunately, this is something most people won't find out until it's too late, like I did. She missed more than one critical diagnosis for my animals, one of which resulted in my cat losing a eye. Everyone makes mistakes, and if it was just minor things, or only once or twice, I wouldn't be writing this. I really hope people considering going to her will take this review to heart. This was my first time Dr. Dana as I was looking for a stable full service vet! I like where I was but when something serious comes up and X-rays are needed I had to find somewhere to go, and I was tired of the back and forth although the prices were great and better at the pet clinics . So I decided to look for a new vet. I like the reviews for Dr. Dana and she was that far from me. She was very kind and left a great first impression on me and my little dog. I trusted Dr Dana for years. She's cared for my animals from them being babies through all their years EXCEPT AT THE END. I can't say how disappointed I am that she's turned me away TWICE when my aged dogs were at the end of their lives. Ruby's tumor ruptured, and I called Animal Wellness looking for the usual care I had always seen Dana give. Instead, I was told that Dr Dana didn't have time for my beloved dog at the end of her life and told me to take her to the ER vet. That was a couple of years ago. Ruby was euthanized at the ER Vet. This week, she repeated the same terrible, uncaring behavior when my 13 year old dog collapsed. I was told by her staff that Dr Dana was "too busy with regular appointments" to see my dog. Once again, I was told to go to the ER Vet. Both of these instances were during normal office hours. Henry died in my car on the way to the ER Vet - instead of in the office of a vet who cared for him for YEARS. I live 8 minutes from Animal Wellness and the alleged caring vet, Dr Dana Boehm. I can't say anything positive about a vet who truly isn't there when the dog and the owner need them the most. I won't return to Dr Dana. I want a vet that can see my dogs through their entire lives and not turn me and my 4 legged family away at the ends of their lives. read more

I absolutely love Dr. Dana and her crew! I have a very anxious five year old Sphynx, and even he loves them too! I got him from his third or fourth owners a couple of years ago and they didn't know anything about him, and Dr. Dana determined his age, neutered him, and got him in awesome health! Appointments are easy to schedule and their hours make it super workable. Dr. Dana is efficient and very knowledgeable. I've always worked a busy schedule and they've always been really flexible! I was so blessed to find Dr. Dana and Animal Wellness Hospital just 2 miles from my new home in the middle of nowhere! She and her staff met my frantic bursting through the door with my dying elderly Aussie with compassion and patience even though I was a complete stranger to them. After only a week in the neighborhood I would have been lost about what to do if she hadn't been so close by. Since our odd beginning I've been so happy to have a place for my Rottie to be looked after, too. This facility is the worst place we have EVER been to. We took our dog here because she had to be in quarantine because she bit one of our sons friends. She has NEVER EVER bit anyone. We rescued her 5 yrs ago and she has never had any history of be a tad bit aggressive. All the kids that were there during the incident admitted to antagonizing the dog which sadly lead to the girl being bit. We were in full contact with the child mother and she also agreed that her child also agreed that the kids were in the wrong. We followed the directions regarding the quarantine knowing our dog was up to date with the rabies shot. We drop her off with no issues and the front desk lady said she was sweet and had no issues with being taken back. She also said she gets bit more by small dogs then large dogs. Now after we were supposed to pick her up today they tell us we can't because our dog bit an attendee. This is a dog that has been in unknown surrounding since sat and kept locked up. We never lock her up. So of coarse she's stressed! She hasn't seen her family! We have twin toddlers that jump on her, lay on her try and ride on her and NEVER once has she even snapped at them and now they say she's a dangerous dog and suggest she be put down! This animal is our family! So does this place suggest all the small dogs that the attendee apparently gets bit by be put down too?? Disgraceful place! read more

Where to start - Dr. Dana is absolutely incredible. My dog is an absolute terror. She hates the vet and, honestly, most people in general. It makes going to the vet a tough experience, but Dr. Dana always does everything humanely possible to accommodate my dog's oddities. From scheduling us at the end of the day to run into as few "strangers" as possible to executing exams on the floor, making treatment as brief as possible and maintaining a calm demeanor when my pup is anything but - she's the best. She even likes our orange colored cat named Beevo even though she's an Aggie ;-) Her love of animals and expertise is well worth the drive. I'm not very pleased with Dr. Dana's service. I took my mini Australian Shepperd in to get checked out. I know she has a very busy schedule so I dropped her off to be checked out when she had time. My dog ended up staying 2 nights and was told she had an infection. She sent my dog home with antibiotics. After finishing the antibiotics I noticed that my dogs symptoms were still occurring. I called back up to Animal Wellness to see what needed to be done. The tech told me to just come get some more antibiotics. Once I got there I explained that the original issue was still happening and hadn't stopped through the first round of antibiotics. I was then told by the tech that I just needed to schedule to have my dog spayed. Dr. Dana wouldn't even explain to me her diagnosis. I the decided to get a second opinion and my dog was originally misdiagnosed by Dr. Dana. My dog actually had a cyst that was within days of rupturing which would have been fatal. Needless to say, I would not recommend her nor will ever use her again. read more

A friend told me about the Animal Wellness Hospital and promised fair prices, thorough examinations and a high level of experience and expertise. Dr. Dana made good on all of my friend's claims and we have NEVER been happier at a vet. We have saved HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS of dollars on treatment and our minds are easy knowing Dr. Dana and her staff are on the case. Just a small example of what you're getting there...our older cat had extensive dental surgery. We had to drop him off the night before, and it was storming and crazy. Dr. Dana slept at the practice to keep an eye on the animals and be certain they were all ok. She SLEPT THERE. No one in Austin does that, and if they do, you're going to pay through the nose for it. Our cat was so well cared for. UPDATE: 2017 (original review from 2015) They are still the BEST PLACE TO GO. We drive from Austin to go here and it's worth every second in the car. Very disappointed with our visit today. I was only shown half of the charges before my dogs surgery. Once I got there to pick the dog up, the bill had increased by $100 dollars, which was the cost of the surgery, that I was never shown, and didn't agree to. Dr. Dana said I could have declined the procedure if I wasn't happy with the fee. I wasn't given the opportunity to decline the procedure because the receptionist DID NOT show me all of the fees. I would have declined the procedure if I was shown all of the fees, like I should have been. read more

We took our 18 year old dachshund in to have some teeth removed due to infection. Dr. Boehn and her staff are amazing!!! I was nervous because Wally is so old, however, Dr. Boehn stayed in contact with us to let us know how he was doing every step of the way. He had to have 29 teeth removed. We picked him up the next morning and WOW!!!! He is doing fantastic. He has no pain and he has eaten and been resting. Dr. Boehn is fantastic and her veterinarian skills are unmatched. I don't know what took me so long to go to her for services, but, now that I have, I will NEVER go anywhere else. Our 5 dogs and 1 cat are part of our family and only the best (Dr. Boehn) will do. First, let me say that my ex husband was a vet and I worked in his clinic for years. He would have fired ME if I had behaved the way the receptionist did. Second, I have taken many animals to Dr. Dana over the past few years with mostly good results. My theory is that she is overworked now and needs a partner, or at least a receptionist that likes her job. I had been noticing things not being done too well. No staff or even a note on the door if the vet was out of town, paperwork not getting mailed to me, that sort of thing. But I had made an appt for some teeth to be pulled on my dog, and called and left a message that a vet tech friend had noticed that the damage was worse than I had first thought. The next day, I took off work and had the dog ready for surgery if the vet could do it. Nobody returned my message from the day before so I called again and was told that I had an appt for 10 days from now. I explained the additional broken teeth (horse kick in the mouth) and asked if she would please ask the vet. When I didn't get a call back, I tried again and was yelled at. Turns out the vet wasn't even in but nobody had told me that. I still needed to go by for antibiotics that HAD BEEN PRESCRIBED THE DAY BEFORE but when I got there I was made to wait for 45 minutes (I think because the receptionist knew I had taken time off work for this) before they gave me the meds. During that time I got to listen to several things that she did that proved to me that she does NOT like her job, the dogs or the owners. Long story short, I asked when the earliest date ythe surgery could be done was and it was the next Tuesday. I took off work on Tuesday as well and guess what? I wasn't written down as a surgery so had to go home. I asked again for the vet to call me and she still hasn't. Luckily for me, I had made an appt with a highly recommended multi-person clinic for my dog to have the THREE teeth removed. She then spent another week on pain meds and antibiotics. Other friends have told me that they can't get calls returned and mentioned other problems. OK vet, very poorly trained staff. read more

I scheduled a follow-up appointment for our dog LADY and the VET-Dana, gave me the date of November 17th, 0730 AM hours. She told me that I would get a call on Monday as a reminder-which never happened! I arrived at my appointment at 0725AM to find out that I had NO appointment. This is POOR Customer Service. I have gotten better service at other places. Dana may be a good VET but if her Customer Service stinks then that's is it for me! read more
