And and guess what she is the one doing 90% of the rescue work if you look at her webpage, she needs all kinds of volunteers for the different volunteer jobs. No one is getting paid. We are all donating $$$ thousands to these rescues each year so they can pull the high risk dogs from the Rural shelters in particular ! The Rescue is located right Downtown Cary, which makes it very convenient and the Rescue Vet is right nearby too! The rescue Director works about 18 hours a day seven days a week saving pets. And I have worked with her for quite some time. What I really like is that she doesn't require the whole payment when the dog goes to the home. They're still in foster care for two weeks to make sure it's a great fit and no one has hesitation, returning a dog that isn't a great fit. All her dogs are always vetted well!

‍Reactive dog owner here!…read more I'd like to start off by saying I have never had a bad experience at any of the Unleashed locations! The staff at each store are absolutely phenomenal. I frequent this store for their dog bathing station. General Unleashed info: I always call ahead to reserve a spot for a bath- you must do this to ensure they have time for you. Baths are reserved for an hour. They usually fill up quickly for a weekend spot but I've never had any issues with same day reservations so long as you are flexible. I also really appreciate that the staff has always been super considerate and understanding when I specify that my dog is reactive to both other dogs and some people. I usually let them know while he looks super approachable because he's so fluffy and cute () he's kind of a butthead with strangers (). They always respond with kindness and politely give him plenty of space when we come in- and also let us know if there are other dogs in the store when we come in! I cannot tell you how much reassurance this gives us as owners to a reactive dog- we appreciate this courtesy so much! Protip: buy the frequent bather card! $60 for 4 baths and your 5th is free! They link this to your phone number so you don't have to worry about losing the card and it is good for use at any of their locations! Cary specific: The bathing area is in the back of the store where they stock bigger items. There is a baby gate and curtain you can use for some privacy but as my dog is reactive and as the location of the bath is open to the public I do wish there was a door just for peace of mind. We have had instances where other curious customers try to peek in the bathing area which has caused my pup to freak out a bit. The room is a little tight but you can make do with two adults plus your pup. I would say the bathing station is a good size for dogs up to the 60-ish lb range. 70 and up might be a tight squeeze. The always are stocked with plenty of soap/conditioner/ear cleaning/grooming tools! TL;DR $15 self bathing station, well worth the price for not having to clean up/well stocked bathing area and very accommodating staff.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much we learned in the course. I'll admit I was a little disappointed at first since the class is a lot of lecturing, however, I see why it is set up the way it is. Even with a high energy dog, the breaks between exercises were needed. I did not realize how mentally exhausting the training can be for the dogs and owners. Apollo loved the classes, but was definitely ready for a nap when we got into the car. The first class and I think the fifth(?) are primarily lecture. The instructor informs the class of this in advance so you can plan accordingly. Due to the nature of the first class, dogs are optional. After each class they send a detailed review of the class along with homework exercises. Each week has a topic and the classes are organized well. Overall, we enjoyed this class and recommend their classes to others!

Also, there is not a huge selection of items for smaller animals like rabbits, guinea pigs, and hamsters. And to make things worse, when I left, two employees were outside taking a smoke break. On a positive note, this store has some pets that other local pet stores may not have -- like the rabbits, for instance. And I like that they host a good number of adoption events. This is one of the cat adoption places insisting on paperwork being completed before they'll let you meet the cats. While I always understood this was an insurance issue, apparently it's not -- at least here. At this stage, I'm only interested in seeing the animals, I'm not ready to adopt and therefore saw no need to answer many of the questions on the form that are irrelevant until I'm ready to do so. The manager and I didn't seem to agree and I left not seeing a single animal -- unless I wanted to do so through a glass door -- a pointless option when I wanted to meet them personally. It was a polite exchange so there was no issue on that account. She was passionate about her position and I respect that. For me, although the facility seems like a definite upgrade from the last location, and I had hoped to see how things were improved and expanded and meet some of the residents, I saw no reason why my "browsing" required my agreement for them to call my current vet or agree to a home visit in order for me to even see a cat when I'm not there to adopt. I completely understand the concerns with making sure these animals find and keep a good home and are not sent to live (or die) with some nut-job, but do not understand how depriving them of the ability to meet or socialize with a variety of people under staff supervision requires something just short of credit and background checks. THIS IS A REVIEW FROM A FORMER PETLAND EMPLOYEE:vettechmnm OP * 5y ago At the Petland store I worked at the isolation room in the back was always full and I wondered why (before I learned the truth), considering those puppies each had price tags off $2000-6000, they weren't receiving veterinary care because they were so sick, and then I found out that they only paid $50-200 a piece for them and it would cost more to treat them than what they cost so it was more economically feasible to let them die so they could trade them in for credit towards other puppies from the breeder. We used to put a small towel in the puppy boxes where they housed the ones that were for sale and a few toys for the puppies to play with. I was reprimanded for giving the puppies in isolation a towel to lay on and toys to play with. The owner told me that he didn't want the sick puppies to have those items because he didn't want them getting overly excited and delaying their recovery (the puppies played with the towels as much as they did with the toys). I thought to myself, "this guy must be a complete moron if he really thinks that sick puppies who are lonely, depressed, bored, and uncomfortable could possibly recover faster or better than puppies who were psychologically well and comfortable while they recovered." It did not take long for me to realize that he wasn't concerned about interfering with their speedy recovery at all. Those dogs did not receive medical care so how could they ever recover from their illnesses? He didn't want them to have those items because he wanted then to be uncomfortable, with nothing to lay on but a grate, and he wanted them to be bored and depressed because he wanted to hasten their death so that he could send them back to the breeder for credit towards other puppies that were less sickly and he could make money by selling them. The puppies in isolation were just taking up space and resources he did not think they were worth and he just wanted them gone. I was also reprimanded for doing a fecal exam because I suspected there was a parvo outbreak because so many puppies had bloody diarrhea. They don't want to know if there is parvo, campylobacter, or any other contamination there because they don't want it to interfere with their puppy sales so there did not approve of my efforts to determine what was wrong with them. I was basically reprimanded for thinking like a veterinary technician rather than a Petland employee... I recently learned that the Orlando Petland was seeking puppies infected with coronavirus near the end of 2019. I worry about the dogs people bring there to meet the puppy before people buy them... They are risking their health and possibly their lives by taking them there. Petland is a corrupt, twisted, and evil organization and they are all the same. The corruption starts at the top, the Petland Corporation, and trickles down from there to every Petland franchise in operation. They don't care about their animals. They don't care about their customers. And they don't care about their employees. The only thing they care about is MONEY, and nothing else. People need to do their research, educate and inform themselves, learn the truth and stop enabling Petland to continue doing this by spending their money in that hell on earth called Petland.
