Anime Tokyo always has something to see! I love going to see all the new stock every so often. There's always something new, the store is always super quiet and chill, and the people working register are always exceptionally nice and helpful. Even if you don't end up leaving with a crazy huge statue, they have a bunch of Japanese drinks and snacks at the front of the store for purchase. Sometimes I go simply to pick up a strawberry milk and red bean ice cream taiyaki, and they are delicious! It's just a really neat place to vibe to anime music and try to find your favorite video game and anime characters in figure form! read more

This store was very nice and clean. Everything was organized and looked great! They had a large selection of items here, especially figurines, and the staff were friendly. I appreciated the cleanliness. The store was a bit smaller than I expected, it felt a bit crowded in there with the "aisles" being narrow. Items were stacked high, which I'm assuming is to make the most out of the space they have. There's a section in the back with arcade machines and a couple tables to play some card games. That's a neat bonus here. Would recommend coming here to anyone with an interest in anime. read more

This place was awesome! I'm new to anime and model building as some friends have gotten me into it. I'd gotten a Gundam model from Target and loved it. So I went online to find more and saw the American supply is pretty sparse. My friend told me about this shop and holy! Tons of models! Gundam, Star Wars, 30 Minute Missions, Pokémon! Not only that but tons of statues, plushes and snacks! And they have a rewards system and friendly staff! I picked up a Gundam model, a couple plushes for my little brother, and some canned boba tea. While they have a huge selection of prize figures, scales, wall scrolls, and more, there is one inconsistency I'm not too fond of. As of late, their Facebook page has not posted all gachapon that they have received in the last few weeks making it hard to know what's truly available in their store. The gachapons my boyfriend and I want to buy have been sold out. The biggest disappointment was learning today there was actually Hololive JP keychains in one of the gachapons. That was never posted on Facebook. Why has the store stopped posting the gachapon stock? I would enter the store much more often if I knew what was available. I would truly appreciate if you update gacha fans more in the future. That way more people have a fair shot in playing. Thank you! read more

This is one of the few anime stores that doesn't enforce a mask mandate and I was more than happy to support them. Their customer service was top notch, they had a few items I wanted, and the overall feel of the place reminded me of the small anime shops I used to visit during my time in Akihabara. Also got a bunch of Gatcha, which are the lil quarter machine toys, my Ghastly is loving being a fan pull now! First time ever stopping by this shop. It was dead in the shop and a single employee was there that didn't seem to care to acknowledge my presence. I proceeded to walk around and look at everything. Something's priced fairly and others way overpriced. The store is called anime tokyo and they actually don't carry much anime or manga at all, i actually saw none. This is actually why I even visited the store, I thought i would find a wide selection but instead just saw a ton of figurines and models. So if that's what you're looking for then this is your store but if like me and wanted to browse through mangas and other types of media then forget it. Ultimately I found nothing that I wanted and just left, after me being the one that acknowledges the employee by thanking them even though they didn't do a single thing for me. I most likely will not return to this store unless they start to actually carry mangas and anime, preferably in a way that resembles a bookstore and not some locked behind glass type deal but we shall see. read more

You could go to the many comic book stores here, and find many Kotobukiya brand figures since its mostly a DC/Marvel deal. But Legit. Anime. It's a hunt. Lets be honest could go online for everything but depending on what you want it It could be out of print and your left with Yahoo Japan and proxy services and all those fees! ECK Example Dragon Ball Gals Bulma Made by MegaHouse Retail Price @ 8,800YEN (3/2016) As of 12/30that converts to $75 Shipping $15 to $25 Range high side would be EMS shipping. So 75 + 25 = 100 At Anime Tokyo it was Listed as $99 not including tax. Pretty good deal since the preorder ended months before release date. Also take into consideration the price is going up due to supply and demand. I'd go Ham on it myself but thats not my life now. My closet is filled with figure boxes I mean BOXES and spent way too much. I mostly collect small things now in particular, I really LOVE prize figures. Here's my tip: CALL FIRST!! It's happened to me too many times where I drive over and it's closed for some reason. Which, I understand! It's a small business, things happen, you gotta leave I get it. It's just frustrating because it takes almost 45 minutes to get there and I should have learned my lesson the first time it happened but I didn't. Regardless, for me, the prices and selection make up for it. Incredible selection without the crazy markup SOME PLACES here in San an think they can get away with. It's a long trip for me or I would be here more often (though that's probably better for my wallet) P.s. I want to add that I haven't had a problem with it being closed lately. Was in too big of a hurry to take pictures, but MAN, is this place the whole package! I bought a big statue of Tanjiro from Demon Slayer, and was totally blown away the low price. Most places on the internet, this thing runs as high as $50. But, I bought it for $30 with a slightly damaged box discount that knocked $3 off the price. The fact that they even bothered with the discount is the icing on the cake! I don't live anywhere even close to San Antonio, but if I come back any time, I will definitely stop by again. 10/10 great service, good environment, GREAT gatcha, endless supply of figurines, and ample merchandise from any anime that's even remotely popular. I only encountered one problem there, and that was that they were sold out of Demon Slayer keychains. It's wildly popular right now, so I don't blame 'em. I would give a zero star if possible, but unfortunately the counter girl would rather sit on her butt behind the counter telling people to stay away from the glass and not touch top stock. Which this girl did when I was pointing to a picture on a box that my wife could not see , because she is 4 and a half feet tall. The pricing of most of the merch in this store is over priced. Sadly the one employee that actually gave a damn about customer service and was attentive to customer questions and quick to offer advice is stu k working for this store. There is way better service at any other anime/import/game locations. I would advise him to seek better opportunities elsewhere as I would hope people avoid this place that treats their customers as interlopers and all merch as museum pieces. If you want better service and better pricing look elsewhere. Fyi, to the management...... I was looking to buy over $300 in product if that girl had not jumped in the middle of our interaction with the other employee. Also on a side note..... as all retail boned stores know..... a customer with product in their hands or in a basket is 75% more likely to make a purchase. read more

Also has a kickass arcade in the back, but you have to pay to even look around the machines. I would have liked to have looked around to see if I wanted to play anything before paying. I went today and the store had wonderful merch and it was extremely organized. My issue came with the blind box policy. I wanted to get a naruto blind box but when I requested if I could pick which box I wanted the employee (I think her name was Amanda) told me I couldn't. I asked why and her response was a little cold saying that it's just how they do things. I understand holding the product at the register until I'm ready to check out but I don't understand why I couldn't pick the box itself. It kind of ruined my experience because the point of a blind box is that I get to choose my box. When I asked if I could switch my figure with one of the displays I was told no because they were employee displays which doesn't make sense to me. I don't think I'll be purchasing again because I left feeling sad with my experience. read more

I came here looking for DBZ figures, and boy was I not disappointed! This is the first store I've found that has a huge stock of low-priced, good-quality DBZ toys. There is actually a very wide range of prices for all anime figures: well over $50 or $100 for the new, large, boxed, high-quality figures, $1-$10 for the small, used figures (which are actually great quality as well), and anywhere in between. The owner actually gets a large portion of the stock FROM JAPAN HIMSELF, which likely explains the huge selection and verifies authenticity. read more

Anime Tokyo also has some really cool shirts that I haven't seen at Alien Worlds or Hot Topic (Kill la Kill FTW). Prices are a little on the high side but considering your options are here or buying online, I understand the extra bucks. Unlike some reviewers, I've never had an issue with them being closed during business hours and the people at the counter have always welcomed me. It's a really laid back place with all sorts of cool memorabilia and cheap if you want to use the arcade 5$ for 2 hours....cheap entertainment for the kids.
