When I woke up "Both of My eyes were hurting so much!!!! AND "For the record" I did try numerous times taking out the Contacts with Contact Lenses Solution with my thumbs but it didn't work . "Both of my eyes were hurting so much and the pain in both of my eyes was unbearable". I knew that there was no way that I could drive on I75 from LAKEWOOD RANCH. My husband was at work. Therefore, I had to wait until he got off work so he could take me directly to GULF COSTAL EYE CENTER. But the point of this review I was in so much pain and it was unbearable. Dr Steven Bovio took the time 30 minutes before closing his office to attend me. He cleared me that I didn't have the contact lenses still in my eyes and he prescribed eye drop medication to take. And I'm not allowed to drive for five days. The point of this review is to clearly "STATE" that if you just moved to this area. Or if you don't like your optometrist and you're looking to change to a new optometrist look no further!!!! Go to see "DR. STEVEN BOVIO" !!!!

But if you are being treated for pre-diabetes or diabetes, make sure you tell Dr. Brown from the start because the eye exam is slightly different; it's your eyes so let her know. They have some new technology to look inside the eye and map it or look for abnormalities. It will add to your bill (Dr. Brown does not take insurance) but as I get one pair of eyes, I believe it's worth a few extra dollars.

They were booked out to September but placed me on a waitlist, and within a week a spot opened. I was seen for a routine exam on May 20, the facility was modern, the staff friendly, and the exam thorough. They booked a follow-up for May 22 to check on a new prescription and a switch from monthly to daily wear contacts. At the follow-up, Dr. Collier and I discussed ordering a 3-month supply of daily contacts. The optometrist who handles orders was already out for Memorial Weekend, so they gave me a 10-day trial supply and confirmed they would call Tuesday, May 26 to place the order. No one called. I called that afternoon, got voicemail, left a message. No response. I called again on June 2. No answer, left another voicemail. Still no response. It has been over a week with zero follow-through. My prescription changed, so my old contacts are no longer usable, and I am now down to my last day of trials. This week I am in the middle of packing & moving to our new home having to try to figure out how to make 1 final set of daily use contacts last until I can find another option, which is absolutely awful. The eye exam was great, but everything after that was an inexcusable failure in basic patient care. Stay away from Artisan Eye if you value communication as a customer.

In all my 40 years of needing glasses and eye care, I've never walked away ecstatic about my experience...until now. From the moment you walk in, a calm falls over you. Suddenly, everything is as it should be and your breathing slows. You put your phone away and enjoy the silence. Suzanne will calmly take care of your paperwork. Insurance? Great! No insurance? Dr. Ron Doctor is the most pleasant, gentle, and patient doctor I've ever encountered. My eye exam was done in only about 25 minutes and was quick and painless. He is very thorough, and you can tell that he genuinely cares about each and every one of his patients. Suzanne keeps the front desk in tip top shape, and had my insurance and paperwork pulled up in the blink of an eye. I came on my lunch break so I was very appreciative that she had everything ready for me. And of course, there's Lorenzo. The most fabulous, friendliest, optician you could ever find. I wouldn't trust anyone else to pick my glasses for me.

I visited for an eye exam for progressive lenses, my 1st time at this location. Heather did do my entire exam, as well (never had anyone but a dr do that), but at one point I asked if she were Dr. Jones & she said she had schooling & was certified (I forget her exact title) & had years of OJT training with eye doctors. Honestly, she did as thorough a job as any doctor I've seen in the past, so I have no complaints. Also, I had many questions about dry eye problems & she was able to give details & product recommendations in simpler language than "doctor speak", so I appreciate her input. Same as Amy, Dr. Jones came in after she completed the exam & reviewed her work & do a closer inspection. When I complimented her thoroughness, he agreed & said her work almost needed no checking. I can understand that some feel they're paying for a doctor's exam & only want that... same as some don't wish to see a nurse practitioner, but only a dr... but I'm fine with the former, as well & at times feel I've had better care with a nurse. He did, however, see something in my eye which concerned him & wanted to do the $121 scans they offer. When I said I'd need to wait a couple of months, as I've no insurance & am in-between jobs, he said he was so concerned, he'd waive the fees, as if there were an issue, I'd need an immediate referral to an eye specialist. Heather did both scans, which only took 5-min. Fortunately, there was nothing to be worried about, but I do appreciate his insistence that I check it out immediately & granting the waived fees, which shows he wasn't just trying to pad the bill, but felt it was optimal care. I'm very grateful. I also appreciate that although Dr. Jones was quite busy, he asked if I had any other questions or needed further info on anything. I found the whole office to be friendly & helpful, including Wendy who got me an appt same day. In addition, Costco's optical staff, who help with ordering frames, lenses & fitting, is also aces. All in all, it was just a $79 fee for the exam & I got a lot of info & treatment suggestions for some of the eye problems I've been having. I'll definitely visit for next year's exam. 5* out of 5.

The girl that helped me informed me that they were trained to not say the price, but rather write it down. I went to Center for Sight and had a much better experience. Bummer because it is a nice facility and I did like Dr. Brad. I just won't tolerate those sales tactics.

They never even tell you to bring glasses to the appointment. The tech was extremely rude basically hates her job and it shows. Even backing up to check in the lady with the northeast accent is abrupt and rude. At the end she said ONE YEAR....um what? I said I won't be coming back. The tech didn't offer a mirror to remove my contacts, when I asked why she had to touch my eye vs. why they don't use the air puff she rudely said: BECAUSE WE DON'T. I hated my experience here and DO NOT RECOMMEND. Ridiculous. The doctor didn't explain anything she was doing. DO NOT COME HERE.

Highly recommend Shane Retina - personally wouldn't trust anyone more than them to work on my eyes…read more I had sudden vision change and it turned out to be a torn retina! All of the staff was extremely kind, professional and knowledgeable. Dr. Shane explained what the issue was clearly and expertly tended to the tear. To have them proactively work with my insurance company to sort it was covered was icing on the cake.
