However, there is a jewel in the crown and that is at 2601 S. tamiami Trail. Her name Jean Austin and she helped me with getting a new pair of glasses. It took awhile to find the right pair but her patience was unending. I found out that all the Center for Sight's have different eyeglass frame. This review is only about their insurance verification process. I received a text saying my appointment would be cancelled if I didn't call in and update my insurance. I called the number provided, was told I was next in line, then next time it was a 20 minute wait. I opted for a callback. When the callback came, this time a 6 minute wait and asked me if I wanted a callback again! What the heck, I asked again for a callback. When it came, it was another 3 minute wait. In the meantime, I had updated my insurance on their check in portal. When I finally got to a representative, he said it takes a while before they see the update but I should be fine. I'm happy with my Doctor, but this administrative process seems broken to me. If the text had said call or check in online with your insurance info, all of this frustration would have been abounded. read more

Her credentials are impeccable, which include graduating from Johns Hopkins Medical School. She's performed over 50,000 cataract surgeries, and her reviews are top notch. I had visited with (3) other doctors before discovering Dr. Davis - none compared. It was easy to make the decision to have her perform my surgery. She explains the different types of lenses in detail, and helps you make the right decision. The minute you meet Dr. Davis, you know you've chosen a brilliant, confident, experienced physician. The pre-op and post-op vists are thorough, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Although Medicare and insurance companies pay for most - if not all costs - make sure you meet with the billing dept. to fully understand the breakdown of expenses. The Sarasota Center for Sight scheduled and canceled my appointment for an annual check FOUR times this winter, beginning in December. Today, I went to the office for my annual appointment (the fourth time it had been scheduled) only to be told that the scheduler had not scheduled one vital test, meaning that they were canceling my appointment for today. I've been trying to order my contact lenses for almost three weeks, and the experience has been extremely frustrating. I've left multiple messages with the office and have never received a callback. It should not be this difficult to get a simple reorder processed. The lack of communication and follow-through is unacceptable, and it's disappointing to see this level of customer service from a medical office I've trusted in the past. 've never had problems in the past until this year so I don't understand what the issue is or what has changed. I'm hoping they improve their responsiveness, but at this point, I can't recommend their optical department when reordering contact lenses. read more

I was referred by the dermatologist I was seeing at the time to see Dr. Fezza because the problem I had was beyond his expertise due to the location near my right eye and as a matter of precaution he felt Dr. Fezza would be preferred for the necessary procedure. I was extremely pleased with Dr. Fezza and the problem was solved in a matter of a few minutes. That was on 12-18-2023. "Excision of Eyelid". I recently noticed the same problem on my left eye and because I trusted Dr. Fezza and the excellent work he did many years ago, so naturally he was my first consideration. I asked specifically to schedule an appointment with Dr. Fezza, which I did. When CFS confirmed my appointment, and sent a reminder notice, I was told I would be seeing Kalie Kosek, a PA, someone I had never met or even heard of. I called and got no answer so I sent a voicemail as directed and once again, explained my preference to see Dr. Fezza, and never heard back. I kept my assigned appointment which was September 17, 2025, and had the same conversation. About that time Kalie Kosek came barging in the exam room, unannounced, with no introduction, with an angry disposition, and zero respect for the "patient", and told me she had been doing this procedure for 9 years, insinuating I had the audacity to question her ability. I inquired about the seriousness of the condition, and she responded with, "If it doesn't bother you, it doesn't bother me. You can get the surgery done or not". That rude, aggressive, and impertinent attitude immediately convinced me she needed a refresher course in professional courtesy. I chose not, paid my $40.00 co-pay, for nothing, and decided Kalie Kosek was not worthy of any further discretion. I has Dr. Soscia did cataract surgery on my eye going on three years ago I immediately had a problem with my vision. I had paid $4000 for the best implant. His for why I was having a made no sense. Later, I went to a retina specialist in Columbus, Ohio, who informed me I had dry macular in both eyes, and that that implant should never have been used. read more

Have gone to Center for Sight in Venice for years and have always had great service. Dr Volkmar sent me to see Dr Shoemaker. In Sarasota due to cataracts. Just had both eyes cataracts removed and new lenses put in. It's like a miracle and I'm so grateful. The next day I woke up and could see like I could when I was a child! No longer glasses or even readers {I was using #4 lens}. It's very exciting to not need either glasses. I can read prescription bottles again! Meat factory. No cimmunication, long wait times, no follow up. I am thankful for renewed eye sight. My vision seems clear in my left eye. Hoping this continues in the future. (Read on-it doesn't). However, I was not ready for your office procedures. If someone had told me "upfront" that I would wait 2-3 hours before being called in for pre-op, my anxiety would not have been so stressful. After finding out my second eye surgery was first thing in the morning, I unfortunately assumed that it would be. When I inquired at the front desk, as to my place in line,after seeing 20 people in the waiting room with bracelets on. I was belittled by your staff, for asking a question and told to just take a seat. "We'll call you when it's your turn there are others here NOT just you." How horrible is that!!! AND SHE SAID IT WITH A NASTY TONE. I'm Not a rude person, I simply want upfront answers. REMEMBER I'm paying $/0 n 6500.00 for custom lens replacement. A nurse arrived heard our conversation and loudly said, "I see "they" are being rude already this morning." What a horrible thing to say. And to say it out loud and embarrass me in front of other patients waiting for surgery. I started to shake, not the comfort zone I would expect for an upcoming surgery. So what can I say now, it was not welcoming nor professional. I was told individually or in the group of patients in the waiting room to be patient. Yet when calling your office after my procedure, with a concerned question that was not on your post op paper work, it took someone over 25 hours to call me back. I only called once, even though I was more than considered with the jumpiness of my eye. so don't tell me I lack patience. Plus you never gave me my lens information card, I had to call and request it, after being told in a curt tone, "you should have received this right after surgery." But I never did. And my left eye is still jumpy. fluttering most days even now after the past 4 months. I now use an ointment nightly and drops during the day to comfort my eyes. Plus, With extreme swelling underneath my left eye, my ENT mentioned I might be allergic to the ketalorac that you had prescribed for me for 30 days. What did you say? "see my plastic surgeon." And the eye surgeon would not see me again until I met with Dr fezzo. But he recommended that I Buy $63.00 goggles. So I did. Your office staff then gave me the wrong item. I had to return it and get the right item and go thru hoops. The goggles are a joke. I think you were the worst experience I've ever encountered for a medical office. With my vision being of utmost important in my life. I'm Still scared about my eye care for the future. Shame on you. All of you!! There is no exaggeration here -- she was visibly angry and completely inappropriate in her tone and body language. I stood there stunned, trying to grasp whether this was some kind of joke. It wasn't. I felt like I was being scolded like a child. She then stormed out of the room, leaving me in disbelief. When she returned, I calmly told her that she was being extremely rude and asked if she treated all patients this way. Another woman then entered the room, and by this point, I was visibly shaking -- I was furious and deeply upset by how I had been spoken to. The second staff member explained that I should not have worn contacts for a week prior to the exam -- something no one ever communicated to me when I made the appointment. Avoid Center for Sight at all costs. My wife warned me not to use them. When I got to the parking lot today, my neighbor warned me "It's a factory in there". At the receptionist they informed me I was late by 25 minutes (delayed by family problem and traffic) and they wouldn't fit me in, Company Policy" . Absolutely. Horrible Service. The quality of the outcome (cataract surgery) was good - as one would expect for one of the most common procedures done in the US. But the quality of the administrative service (did not call me to advise of my surgery time, requiring me to call multiple times; failure to have eye drops ready [which they assured me would be] that did not have a component to which I'm allergic; and more, sadly enough), and, worse yet, the quality of the medical services (dismissiveness of the surgeon [who clearly had no interest in me as a person] when I questioned the value of one of the expensive not-covered-by-insurance upgrades) is totally unacceptable. The surgeon, when I told him I did not want the lens that cost thousands of dollars, said "oh... so you want to wear glasses from the moment you wake up until the moment you go to bed?!" and stormed out. In itsy-bitsy tiny print at the bottom of their brochure they "publish" what they brand as "Basic Plus" - after doing some research, I opted for that... and my vision, in each eye, is now better than 20/20! I did not need the thousands-of-dollars upgrade, but the surgeon had NO interest in discussing this with me. This is not medical "care." This is an automatic car wash for eye procedures. You can do better. I don't think they can, because they look at patients as numbers (in their bank account). Center pushes to have upgraded lenses when you have cataract surgery. I went ahead and did as they recommended back in February had surgery. Had major issues after the surgery. and had more procedure completed because I see halos to this day I still see halos. Also they sent the bill to the wrong company so they didn't get paid proper money. I have been calling them since March to get it corrected September 25 they sent me to a collection agency when the bill was corrected back in August. I would not to anyone read more

Doctors are great! parking at the S Trail (Sarasota) location is HORRIBLE! had appt yesterday am, people were parked everywhere (including along the curbs)- had to circle the lot 15x waiting for a slot to open up. i am there 2-3x per year for appointments and usually the parking situation is tight but not as bad as yesterday. Once inside every seat was filled and we are not talking about a few seats, they have close to 50 seats in the waiting area. I asked the attendant how many of these people are waiting for the same Dr. as me and got a run around that they have 5 Dr's serving different needs but never answered my question and just wanted my credit card information. I saw Dr. Joshua Kim; my eye doctor referred me to him due to a glaucoma related issue. I ended up having laser surgery the same day I had my consultation with him. I came back a month later for my follow up appointment. I explained to Dr Kim that i was experiencing floaters in my right eye and that I had never experienced that before. He got very defensive and proceeded to tell me that it was due to old age (mind you I am 64), and not due to the surgery. I started to express my concern again about the floaters and that I had never experienced that in my life. He became very defensive, dismissive and rude. He responded by saying "as I told you before it is due to age, and not due to the laser surgery". this is just part of his rudeness and horrible bedside manner. The surgery was successful, but as a patient, I have a right to ask questions and discuss my concerns with my doctor without being dismissed. I will never go back to see Dr. Kim again. As for the office staff, I cannot say enough wonderful things about their professionalism. read more

Ridiculous wait times... 2pm appt. when i arrived, they had changed my appt to 3:15 without notifying me. Another person in the waiting room stated that their appt had been changed as well without prior notification. The woman that was checking us in said if we left and came back, she would not check us in, causing a longer wait when we came at 3:15. So we waited. we finally got called back at 3:30pm, was met by an assistant who asked a few questions, and put us BACK INTO A DIFFERENT WAITING ROOM. I waited in the 2nd waiting room for another 15 minutes. then got called back into the doctors office by another assistant who asked another 5 questions, then told me to wait again. I have been sitting in this room now for half an hour, and the doctor is still not here... This place is a joke, and they keep moving you, to make it appear as though they are taking care of you in a timely manner but it is all headgames and bullshit. where the doctor? Go to another optomologst!!! Every waiting room is packed with people waiting. I'm so frustrated as they have no respect for customers time. After an hour plus of tests and prescription validation with a technician, I finally saw the doctor. I needed both new glasses and rigid gas permeable contact lenses for an upcoming scuba trip. The doctor immediately jumped to having cataract surgery and lasik at the same time to eliminate the need for contacts or glasses. I have no symptoms of cataracts that need immediate attention. The "upcharge" for lasik was $6000 and would require two flights back to sarasota over the summer. I told him I would think about it. I decided to get the contacts and glasses instead. Turns out, all of the data collected in the initial visit has mysteriously disappeared. There was no record of my prescription, type of lenses, eye shape, etc I was even told that I had no charge for that visit, my my visa bill would differ. I really believe that the doctor's goal was to push me into an expensive procedure that isn't critical at this time. Even the technician said there was a small uncharge for lasik with cataract surgery. I dont view $6000 as a "small" upcharge! Very hesitant to give them a recommendation as the push to spend a lot more than necessary really makes me leery. read more

I had a referral from my primary eye doctor for upper eye lid surgery. This is needed to improve my vision. My insurance carrier approved it as well. They told me they need to do the eye exam and would not take my eye doctors test. They are doing this to bill my insurance, a scam to make more money. Then they told me they only do it under general anesthesia and not a local as Ibhad this done under a local 10 years ago. More insurance billlable for them. Then they told me while under anesthesia I might want to consider getting my lowers done, for another 9K. If they were to do it, total cost would be 13000 plus what insurance would pay. I can get a high end plastic surgeon do both for 9K and no insurance billing. Avoid this practice, money scam. read more
