I like this comedy club. It's a bit cramped as they have you sit in metal chairs but the space is nice. Service is prompt and easy to get to. Location is right downtown. Couple of municipal parking decks so its a short walk to the club. The facility itself is downstairs in a basement of what could be been an old university bldg. Most shows are around 20 bucks or so. Full bar. Not handicapped accessible. Have fun. read more

This venue provides really nice entertainment for cheap. For $15, we saw three people give brief series of jokes and one headliner. Service was really good - quick and unobtrusive to the show. Givne the current renovations going on, it feels a little odd going in and going down to the basement, but the show and service were great, and I definitely plan on returning. read more

Nothing special, but no major complaints. Prices aren't a great deal, but they're not exorbitant, either. The layout of the place is great and reminds me of Second City in Chicago. Service is entirely too slow- they obviously don't hire enough servers, because those poor people are running around like crazy and it still takes forever to get anything. read more

This place is a hidden gem in Ann Arbor. We have been coming here for over a year and it's always a great experience. Although the service can be slow at times, the drinks are not watered down and they have a good beer selection. I recommend getting the unlimited popcorn as well! Can be better some nights than others? Never know what you will get, but that the fun of it. True can be said of most good comedy clubs. I have gone many times and always enjoy. Great location to make a night of it and go out for drinks after. Get tickets in advance and save a couple bucks. Get tickets way in advance and you may sit in the front row and be a target. Avoid the front 2 rows if you just want to watch and not participate. Later show is usually more fun. read more

The comedy here is generally pretty good nothing to complain about that. However; Service is horrible Seating charts suck too. Buying tickets you'll need to do a week in advance to get good seats, but even then you can only pick a 'row' so you still don't know where you'll be seated really. read more

I have been here twice and each time it has been a blast. Hilarious comics, great drinks. The long islands are huge. The prices are reasonable. The audience has a mix of ages. It's best to eat ahead of time. They don't serve food, just snacks like popcorn, nachos, etc. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance. It's in a great location. For as expensive as they were, the long island iced teas had zero alcohol in them (had 3 other people taste and confirm the same). Jack and coke tasted awful and weak. This is a great comedy club - clean and friendly and intimate - right close to the comedians. The management is great. We were asked to leave because we thought we could get by the "18 and older" and bought tickets to see my 12-year old son's favorite standup. The manager was extremely polite and his explanation - which we had not considered - that having such a young boy in the house would make the comedians feel constrained/awkward - made complete sense. Although the guy we came to see - Gary Gulman - is generally pretty clean, I know he wouldn't want his opening acts to have to change their own styles to make the whole show PG-13, for the sake of one 12 year old boy. In making the reservation I thought only that they were looking to avoid rowdy young teens - not about comics feeling they needed to censor themselves. Again, it's a great place, and my husband and our over-eighteen kids will definitely come here sometime! We love standup and this is a great venue. read more

While I enjoyed the show, I found the service to be pretty bad. We came as a group and came about 15 minutes early. We sat and waited at least 15 minutes to even be greeted by our server, and waited another TWENTY minutes for our drinks (10 soft drinks/waters and 2 mixed drinks). When our server came back with our drinks, she spilled them all over 3 of our party members. That's fine, it happens. However, she never apologized or offered napkins. After waiting about 5 minutes, for her to bring more drinks or napkins, neither arrived. I had to go to the back of the house to request napkins, and stood ignored for 5 minutes, and was treated poorly once I asked for the napkins. Needless to say, I will not be returning, nor will I ever recommend to anyone. Which is sad, but the service is something I would never want to encounter again. read more

While I enjoy the atmosphere and the service was good, the ambience changed because the comedian argued with one of the customer. The comedian got personal when the customer made a little joke (you would think that comedians are ok to take jokes). The comedian was Geoffe Tate. I think he's able to put on a good show but somehow got distracted that night. The price of beer and munchies are decent and the service we received were great. Pretty much a regular at the Comedy Showcase and it's been a great trip whenever I go. Waitstaff is always very friendly and doing the best they can-- sometimes the drinks take a while to come out but I recently heard they only have 1 bartender for the whole place, which is crazy! There has to be 400 people in there some nights, so I'll forgive them for that. The atmosphere of the new place is pretty sophisticated compared to the old one, but it's generally a casual atmosphere. The staff are amiable and accommodating if need be. Love AACS! read more

Bottomline: a) Reasonably funny comedians b) rude, slow hosts and waitstaff c) extremely drunk, disruptive patrons and zero effort by the staff to police this, or make sure their other customers are able to enjoy the show. We had been here in the past, before they moved, and enjoyed ourselves. Comedians aren't always the best, but that's part of the deal - mostly they're okay. The staff in this place are surly and slow. We were stuck waiting for almost 20 minutes after the show to get my credit card and receipt back. I understand that this poor girl's doing the best she can, but maybe more than 1 credit card machine, or a different system for how the waiters deal with that stuff would make this a less unpleasant experience. The worst thing was that there was a group of extremely drunk people in the corner loudly talking and taking selfies and doing shots throughout the headliner. Everyone thought this was disruptive - our friends sitting in a totally different section also noticed it - and clearly everyone in our section was irritated. We wondered why the management did nothing to protect the comedian working up there, and the customers who paid to see a show and were subjected to this nonsense. So, can't recommend it. read more

The seats have not one inch of space between them for all of the seating in this place. You can't see the stage if you are anywhere other than the first two rows. Our waitress served us one drink and then didn't​ see her again until it was time to pay the bill. The basement smells like a sewer. I will never go back! read more

The quality of the comedians is inconsistent, but so many have been hilarious, that I can't wait to be going back again! The free birthday tickets make it possible for everyone to check it out and bring friends. The servers are slow and the drinks are oddly tiny, but that's not why I'm there. My wife and I haven't had a bad experience here yet. Yes sometimes it takes sometimes a little longer to get your drinks, but the comics are great. Best experience if you sit in the front. Went here one night on a whim with my husband and we had a great time. We also had been bar hopping prior so that could of helped. It definitely wasn't the funniest show I've seen, but overall not terrible. The bathrooms were freezing, like see your breath type cold. If I'm really being honest, this place is pretty terrible and they have a lot to do to make it better. The comedian we saw was hilarious (and did a nice job handling the annoying hecklers), but that was the only positive. The place is still under construction, so I hope they still have a lot to do to it so it looks a little nicer and create a better atmosphere. The drinks were gross. Don't get any of the frozen drinks as they were terrible. I don't know what kind of tequila was in my margarita, but it was similar to gasoline. The waitress we had was awful. She took our drink order, came back with two or of our three drinks and then we didn't see her again until she brought our bill. My boyfriend was waiting for 45 minutes for his drink. Same thing happened to the people at the table in front of us until they finally got up and asked someone to get their drinks. Another waitress brought it over, and I thought our waitress got fired in the middle of her shift until she brought us our bill. Place has a lot of potential, so I hope they can get it together. read more

This is one of the best clubs in the country. The variety of comics is amazing. They bring in more female comics and African American comics than any other club around. I was there last night. They had a white guy, an African American comic,, a female comic and the white main act. Someone in a review said the bartender and manager are racist and sexist. Hogwash!!!!! The bartender is African American and the manager is white and he hires the comedians. Funny how people make accusations with no base for their comments and hide behind their keyboard. Anyone can post and say awful things about a persons character and yelp does nothing to check out their claims. Anyway, go and have a great time we did. Joe DeVito was great and really....we've never been disappointed at the Ann Arbor Comedy showcase. The service is great, the comedians are hilarious and management does a great job keeping hecklers and loud parties from disrupting the shows. Yay!!!! 10 stars if I could. read more

My boyfriend and I purchased a Livingsocial deal for this place (2 tickets for $13, plus we had an addition 25% off promo- can't beat that!) a few months back. We finally took advantage of it on Friday for a date night idea, and we will absolutely be back later this month! There were three opening acts, plus the headliner. One of the opening acts was kind of a dud. However, this did not phase us, as the other two were great. The headliner was Nore Davis, who was absolutely laugh out loud, hysterically funny! If you are headed to Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase, I highly recommend to check the calendar to see when Nore is back on stage! He had us laughing until we were red in the face. The drinks were very overpriced, but yummy. We both had electric lemonade, which came in a decent sized glass and went down smoothly. We had two of those each, then my boyfriend also ordered two additional beers, and we split a nacho "basket", which was a very tiny serving. The only foods they have are snacks (trail mix, nuts, popcorn, nachos, candy), which was fine, as we had dinner before hand. Our bill came to $45.00, which was kind of nuts, but the drinks were great and we had such an awesome time, it almost didn't matter to us that we paid more for drinks/snacks. I went to the comedy showcase last night. The pre show comedians were good, Wait staff was polite and attentive. New venue is nice, much better than the old venue. Seating is great, can pick your seats that have not been reserved. However, headline comedian Geoff Tate was not funny. He had a political agenda that was his whole show. Really if I wanted to listen to a political agenda I could have stayed home and turned on CNBC. That is not what mad us walk out. What made us walk out was the Comedian Geoff Tate ask the crowd a question. Someone in the crowd answered and then Geoff continue to badger that person in a heated conversation for five minutes. It was not funny, Very rude we left. I felt sorry for the patron. I know the Comedy Showcase cannot stop their comedians from being rude, but I don't have to go back if that is the quality of comedians that they think Ann Arbor is interested in seeing. read more
