This place is huge for me, this was the first place I went and saw stand up for the first time inside a comedy club. Went for a date and saw one of my favorite comedians Matt Braunger. Later got to see Geoff Tate, then John Heffron and was supposed to see Doug Benson one time but he cancelled. Always was a great time and never had issues with drunks or rowdy crowds really. Has that comedy club feel with the small room and low ceiling. Adeline was outstanding, she not only saw I came alone and definitely made sure I was okay and taken care of but she was super friendly, attentive, and Super Funny in her own unique style. It was always a great show Including the amazing service from the person at the window outside, to the hostess then down to Adeline, my server (Don't lose that one). It was definitely a 5 experience. Hope to stop by again soon. P.S. Adeline definitely was the reason the fifth star was earned in my opinion. My time here has always been amazing but she helped make my last trip there that much more. This one is for you Adeline ~Location includes~ Some Amenities For Handicaps Elevator / Stairs Men's Bathroom Women's Bathroom Sound System Phones Asked to be Off or Silent Performances are Recorded (Shhhh) No Smoking Over 18 Weekly Shows Cocktails Cold Drinks Beers (Bottle/Draft/Pitcher) Hot Drinks Pitcher/Glass of Water Sodas Popcorn/Peanuts/Cookies/Candy Open Mic Nights Available for sign up SMALL Screen provided for customers in the back who can't see the stage well.

The Ann Arbor comedy showcase has been around since 1984. It has moved a couple of times and is currently located on 4th street, downstairs. There is an elevator. Tickets are $20 a person and there is no reserved seating. There are two shows on Saturday at 7:30 and 930, one show on Friday I believe just at 7:30. I have been twice this fall and both times were good experiences. Last time I think I enjoyed the comics a little bit more than this time, but they've all been good. Last time we were in the front row, this time we were off to the side. I didn't catch the name of our comics and when I went to the website I couldn't figure out how to find out who we had previously seen, so I apologized to the comics that I saw last night and the previous time that I'm not able to give you a shout out. I will tell you that the woman, who was the headliner Saturday, was pretty funny. They have waitstaff they will take your drink order. My friend had the caramel apple martini, I had a beer. They have a variety of mixed drinks and beers. It is not the place for a wine connoisseur but it is a comedy venue and not a wine bar they do have non-alcoholic drinks and they have a few snacks such as popcorn, peanuts, pretzels and nachos. I have not had any of the snacks but many people were eating the popcorn. There are small tables to hold your drink and snacks. So all in all an excellent place to have an inexpensive date night.

One of my favorite things about going to a city like New York are those small intimate venues like…read morethe Blue Note, where you can eat and drink and watch some music. Yes, many restaurants around have performers but there's something different about this kind of spot. The performers are not an afterthought. They're the focus and why people are there and the enjoying of music is a communal experience. North Star Lounge scratches that itch I have for a venue like that here in Ann Arbor. A friend of ours was playing a show here which made my first visit even more enjoyable and special. As a music venue this place is small but not uncomfortable in the slightest. It's what one might call, "intimate." For the show they had set out some rows of chairs but there were several tables and booths if you prefered to have a little more space or would like to eat while you watch the show. They have a limited menu for food and it's prepared at Detroit Filling Station next door (also NSL's owners) which means it's vegan and also delicious. It was a cold evening so went with comfort food and ordered the mac and cheese, which was as excellent as when I've ordered it from DFS. They have a nice cocktail/beer/wine menu but also a substantial NA/Mocktail selection. I've pumped the breaks on alcohol recently so I went with a hot tea to warm up and a mocktail with some muddled fruit and mint (the drinks are seasonal so the menu from that time is no longer posted for me to recall the name but it was very good). Good tunes, good food, good drinks, friendly folks. What else could you need? Check out their calendar of events now and plan your visit!

I am a wheelchair user and I reached out to inquire about the accessibility of the LGBT Halloween Drag Event, and unfortunately as is the case with most community events that are supposed to be inclusive, I was very disappointed with the response I received. "Hi Isobel, The event does take place upstairs. However, you are welcome on the first floor. We have a closed circuit camera upstairs that displays the show on a first floor monitor over the bar. If you choose to attend, staff will make sure to accommodate you on the first floor. I hope that helps." I am aware that the website of the North Star Lounge does not claim to be accessible, due to the size of the building they are not required to meet ADA accessibility requirements. I personally do not think this excuse is good enough for a venue hosting what is supposed to be community based events. This may be due to infrastructure, but infrastructure can be discriminatory and this is not a revolutionary concept. There is no other group of people that would be told they can pay to watch an event from an entirely different floor in a different room on a TV screen above a bar and that is considered acceptable. It is discriminatory and ableist, plain and simple. I would not recommend this venue to anyone in the disabled community, and if you care about the rights of disabled people you should not be attending either. If venues could tie profitability to accessibility we would have a whole different story, so please consider that before attending a community event in an inaccessible space. Disabled people belong every single place that you belong!

Oh my goodness... fell in love with this place tonight!…read more I have been fruitlessly searching for a quality Hip Hop class for a long time now ... each time I would sign up for one it ended up being cancelled bc not enough people registered. Finally... I FOUND A CLASS and it is a fantastic studio that I HIGHLY recommend. Dance Theatre Studio is right in the heart of U of M's campus. It is a second story location above Moe's sporting goods store. Great walkable area if you want to grab a bite or a drink after classes. It is a narrow spot and it was very very crowded in the waiting area, yet it is truly a wonderful space! They have an office in the sort of attic upstairs, and the man who I think owns the place is so so sweet- his name is John. He was helpful, and kind, and very endearing. There are 3 studio spaces A, B, and C. There are also small changing areas for men and women. Studios A and B are larger- C is a smaller space. They offer so many classes here .... Zumba, Cardio Barre, Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop, Pilates, Body Sculpting,Tap ...for ALL different skill levels and ages. I personally am taking a Hip Hop class and I can't wait to continue classes here for years to come.It is a very well organized studio and it has a really helpful and easy website which I appreciate. My first class was SO fun !!! The instructor was not only a talented dancer and teacher - she was great at amping up the energy of the class and making everyone comfortable. Class starts out with a warm up - including crunches, plank, push ups. We learned great choreography to fun music and then cooled down and stretched. I'm so thrilled to have discovered this place... if you've ever thought about taking dance you should totally try it !!!!!

I'm a modern dancer without a lot of jazz experience, so I was a little worried about jumping into an intermediate class at a studio I wasn't familiar with, but everyone was super welcoming. The class was fast-paced and mostly regulars. I would be cautious of coming to this particular class if you don't have some experience, because I could see it being frustrating. Michelle didn't take a lot of time to offer corrections and taught the choreography quickly, but not too quickly for the class -- everyone was at least getting a sketch of it, but everyone also seemed challenged by it (I was!). She seemed to have a good sense of what parts were difficult for the class in the moment. She also picked some rad music. I would totally go back if I lived here!

Tickled Fancy's troupe is made up of lovely, expressive ladies not afraid to strip their clothes off to music in the truest burlesque style, mixing charm and a touch of coy smarm. Laughter is welcome with these delightful dolls. Their routines split between groups and solo performances, covering a gamut of different styles; mermaids and sailors opened our act, with all the posturing, fin-fanning, and peering over giant aviator sunglasses at heaving bosoms an audience could want. A hula-hoop wearing clown stripped down to her striped-sock skivvies, and that girl was adorable. I've never wanted sparkly red glitter-lipstick so badly after seeing the hostess of events shining in the limelight; that's a good thing, right? The piece de resistance was the superhero choreography where villains and heroes of DC Comics squared off on the stage. Robin, Batman, Catwoman (I think) and Poison Ivy duel in a feat of swaying hips, thrown punches, and dangling ornaments from pasties (yes, the bat symbol.). Poison Ivy stole the show on that one for me, though everyone was fantastic; I guess I've got a thing for deadly redheads with voluptuous curves and a killer "POW!" "SMACK!" choreographic sign behind her head. Thoroughly professional and entertaining, the Tickled Fancy company is an awesome troupe who I hope to see again. Thank you, ladies!

And vice versa, if you go to the restaurant, and then show the slip of paper at the store, you get 20% off one item. I needed souvenirs to buy for my co-workers back home and I didn't want to just hit up the airport gift shop on my way out. I wanted to support local businesses who make vintage quality souvenir magnets - similar to what you'd find at the airport but not at the airport. I was with my friend on a brisk Friday evening and we stumbled upon this place. We had asked around for souvenir shops in the vicinity, but ended up here at Roeda Studios. They actually had what I wanted here and thankful that I didn't have to go all over Ann Arbor to get it. In hindsight, Detroit airport didn't have much anyway and I was glad that I came here for souvenirs. We entered around 6pm, exhausted after searching through 3 nearby shops. When the cashier told us they carried Michigan inspired souvenirs, I was happy and thankful that the search was over. Roeda Studios is one of those stores that carries an assortment of trinkets and cute household things that you can decorate your home or office with. There's plenty of Michigan inspired items along with some University of Michigan logo items too. The store itself is very organized and meticulously clean. Just glad that I didn't need to buy at the airport on my way out in Detroit. The overall experience here at Roeda Studios here in downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan was quite nice and easy. I took about 30 minutes here browsing and shopping for those souvenir magnets that my coworkers love to have. I did enjoy the ambiance of this cute boutique store. Don't know if they had any public WiFi, but pretty sure they had central air conditioning. Roeda Studios is located at 319 S Main Street in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan. They accept major credit cards and cash. Perfect for us out of towners, who are always on the go. We ended up parking at a parking garage that was about 2 blocks away. Kind of perfect though, especially with a low parking fee to park for 2 hours or so. Not sure about Ann Arbor's public transportation options, but best bet would be your own private car or rental. Or if you need it: uber or Lyft is at your service too. Roeda Studios has your Michigan inspired tourist souvenirs and ideas on how to spruce up your home decor or office space. Quite a nice little shop that I happen to stumble into. For the most part though, the experience here at Roeda Studios was quite uneventful and great that I didn't have to run around downtown Ann Arbor for Michigan inspired souvenirs. The service was friendly and quick. I'm glad my friend and I came here and, while prices here can be above average for touristy souvenirs, you can be sure that you do get a quality product here. My reference would be the $6 magnets you find at the typical airport kiosk to $10+ unique ones you find here at Roeda, if you were to find something special for Michigan. Not sure if they have central air conditioning or public WiFi though, but the shopping experience was quick enough to where I didn't notice one bit. I would definitely recommend coming here for your home decor or office space sprucing needs, as well as Michigan inspired souvenir magnets. If you're ever in downtown Ann Arbor, swing on by. They'll be glad to help you out with that you need. Come on by, they would love to see you. Happy with my purchase. 4.0 stars for the overall experience. 5.0 stars for the service and selection. 3.0 stars for the prices. Support local! B
