Who the hell gave this a better review than 1 star this is pure garbage. I'd rather eat alpine Dog food, at least I would have known it was gross before I spent $30 plus delivery. This is one of the only times where my fellow Yelpers got it completely wrong. Gizzards chewy like rubber bone, the Mac and cheese was so watery couldn't even keep that mush on my fork, the chicken shawarma is thin slices of dried tasteless chicken I think. The coleslaw was like eating a spoonful of Mayo the bread that came along with it was two pieces of hillbilly wheat bread. I hate getting played and ripped off for my hard earned money. So I have to give the type of review you deserve. This place should be shit down for stealing my money and serving disgusting shit food. I'm so mad because I was so excited and hungry. I ordered delivery and DD was great - the fish was DRY. No napkins. No silverware. The Mac & Cheese was FROZEN. It didn't state that on the menu. Literally pulled from freezer. They do have chairs for people who are waiting for their orders scattered about so that they are at least 6 feet apart. They have Ocean Perch, Tilapia, Whiting jack, Catfish Swahili Filet, Catfish Nuggets, White Bass, Cod, Smelt, Orange Roughy, White Fish, and Walleye. Phew. As you can see from the pictures of the menu they also offer all kinds of chicken including tenders, gizzards, wings, chicken nuggets, dark meat, chicken. Chicken sandwiches, fish sandwiches and not only dinners but you can buy single pieces of any fish so if you wanna mix and match it's quite easy to do. And then there's the sides. Extremely broad selection, no big surprise! I bet their hummus is fabulous and I regret not getting it this time. I LOVE THIS PLACE! The seasoning on the fish is AWESOME and the chicken is tasty as well. The fries are also well seasoned (not common in A2) and the desserts are good as well. The owner is a great, welcoming individual with a kind heart and a willingness to go above and beyond for his customers. In fact, he made sure that the fish was fresh by the time the customers arrived, and although he was about to close up once, he opened up just for us. The shop itself isn't much for a sit-in experience, but there are some tables and chairs for folks to wait for their food. Everything was priced very reasonably, which is rare nowadays. Quality fried fish! They do cornmeal batter, which is my favorite (unfortunately not many places do it around here), and the coating is seasoned well! I've gotten the catfish meal/platter both times that I have been here and have been very satisfied with it. The medium has two pieces, while the large has three. I love this place. I used to live in Flint and went to a similar place and missed my fix after I loved to A2. In Flint you couldn't dine in; too small but they did the "you buy we fry" which was cool. I'm super fussy with fish though. No mush. Not overly fried where the fish isn't flakey anymore. I don't like that gray color inside either. Tried a couple different places around town and this place is consistently clean with their fish and chicken both. Note: I have only tried the catfish filets. Plus I prefer the cornmeal breading and that's what they use here. I don't care for the fries though. Tasteless & soggy. We ordered two cod dinners, tartar sauce, & coke slaw. The fish was tender, light and flakey. The batter on the outside was very thin which allowed us to savor the taste of the cod. The fries were a delightful surprise and ever bit as delicious as our lightly battered cod. The tartar sauce was a good compliment to the fish. The slaw had just a bit too much dressing but was still flavorful. The portions were decent & not overwhelming (they even threw in some bread slices). I only had it once so it could be hat wasn't a good batch though. I gave it 5 stars bc the owner or head guy who's there all the time & does the cooking has awesome customer service! He is so pleasant to do business with, seems hardworking and honest, always has a smile on his face, and because they just opened up they have GREAT deals! I would say if you are looking for a good cheap place for really good, flavorful chicken, shrimp or fish, this is your place. The seasoning for everything including the fries was lemon ok n pepper, so if you don't like that, I would suggest letting them know before ordering. This is the best place for fried food compared to a few other places in the area. The actual restaurant isn't an ideal place to sit and eat, I would probably never dine in there. However for the amount of food you get for the price, I'd definitely over look that. Customer service was good as well, considering that there was only one Employee taking orders, ringing the cash register, as well as cooking lol. It is what it is. If you lived in Detroit, you see these types of places pop up everywhere. But what makes this my go to is that they're consistent and the owner/master fryer is an awesome guy. He's personable and always willing to do something extra for his customers. I never call in. I always place my order at the counter and chat it up with the guy for a couple of mins. Simply the best Fried Chicken and Fish you can get within the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti Area. Forget BW3, KFC, and any others. You cannot beat the quality and taste. This little gem is hard to miss. Located near the corner of Golfside and Washtenaw, it's located in the strip of shops where the Cottage Inn used to be. That said, the interior isn't anything fancy, 4 tables and the Kitchen in back. However, this is honest, good food. You cannot beat the 30 wings for $25 deal which includes wings (of course), Fries, Cole Slaw, and a Large Kool Aid. The Lunch Specials for around $7 each are a great deal if you're in the mood for Fish, Chicken, or Shrimp also including a drink. I've been to this location three other times before and each time has fulfilled my hunger. The reason the food is delicious is because all the food is cooked to order. Nothing is ever sitting out under a bake light nothing is warmed up in an oven. I saw the cook put chicken into a basket, season and bread the wings, than throw it into the fryer. What came out was freshly fried, delicious wings with a well salted, seasoned wings with a hint of citrus (I think lemon pepper, but not entirely sure). Now the wings may be the highlight, but I cannot fail to mention how delicious the fries are as well. Normally, when I eat chicken the fries are an afterthought, but these fries are on par with the chicken. You will not be disappointed. If you're on Washtenaw and want something delicious and fresh, I recommend coming here. I've mostly come during the weekday in the afternoon, but I've heard that the line can go out the door during some times. Also, you need to try the Honey Garlic sauce. This transcends the chicken and fries to another level. Which, seems to follow a trend with this shop, Simple yet delicious flavors. You can go to Cuppy's, L Georges, or Roy's Diner, but Ann Arbor Fish and Chicken has joined that list of some of the best food in AA-Ypsi. read more
