I'm from out of state and this was my first time eating here.I try to limit how much fried food I eat , so I ordered a half combo dinner. It contained one piece of cod , 4 or 5 pieces of medium shrimp and 2 chicken wings. Also fries are included. The taste of everything wasn't bad but it wasn't greasy. The seasoning could be kicked up a bit, I guess that is what the hot sauce is for. My wife and uncle got the full order of perch, fries and wings. My wife order strawberry cheesecake which she said was delicious. The service was great. We were told maybe there was cooking time of 15 minutes, she was close to that time. They are located inside the gas station. I called twice and was put on hold for a good 5 minutes both times. The food was good I ordered a 10 piece wing ding with fries and a koolaid. Everything was delicious (can't go wrong with chicken). I feel lik they were a little stingy with the lemon pepper on the chicken lol but they did give us a lot of hot sauce.we also ordered a side of macaroni. It saddens me to see so many negative reviews, because Nu Wave has THE BEST chicken! I don't wanna say disregard the negative reviews but.. disregard the negative reviews here. I've read all the reviews (only 16) and it's clear these people have never worked in customer service. So I'll clarify, 1. Businesses can't control what happens when you order door dash/grubhub/groupon that's the third party's fault not there's, 2. If someone's order comes out before yours and you ordered food there are about 1000 reasons that could happen stop making things personal, 3. It's in a gas station so if expect 5 star restaurant service you need to re-evaluate yourself.. End Rant. I've been here dozens of times and let me tell you, these are some of the sweetest people. I've had times where I'll order wings, sit down and wait, and the cashier would offer me a free pop. Or even as the chicken is frying, the cook will come over to me and ask me how my day was and walk back to get the chicken out. This right here is good customer service, they have me wanting to come back! Now let's talk food. I've only ever ordered the wing dings so I can vouch for anything else. I always get the bbq sauce and let me tell you, I'll order 30 wings and I'll eat all of them! I'm not a big girl, but for Nu Wave I got a big appetite. They're smaller, 3 bite wings and idk what they put in these, but I dream about them. My mouth is watering as we speak. It only ever takes about 10 minutes for them to bring out my wings and it's always still good by the time I come home. So please try Nu Wave! They're the sweetest people and these wings are bomb. The food here is terrible. The cod was tasteless, tough and cold. The shrimp were like rubber. The okra were burned and the fries were ordered were nowhere to be found. 4 cod strips, 8 shrimp, okra and a $4 crab cake all for $45. Even if the food had been good quality it would be overpriced. With the food tasting the way it does it is outrageous. I frequent the store at 8 and Lahser, so I don't hate Nu Wave, but this one should close unless they can improve the product. read more

I ordered in from door dash last night. The Great: I ordered 10 large shrimp, fairly priced. The seasoning and crunch the shrimp had were legit. They were gone in seconds, loved it. Peach cobbler that came with was also pretty decent. The Good: Catfish and wing ding combo. The catfish was flaky, and had a nice texture to the seasoning, which i think used cornmeal as it was a bit crunchy. Whatever the fries were seasoned with, also added a bonus to them. The Bad: The bread that came with my meal was placed under parchment paper. I'm not sure if they could remedy this by putting it underneath the fish or not, but the condensation inside ran down the tray and my bread pretty much was mush. Also with my meal, i was supposed to get coleslaw and a fountain drink, I received neither of those. The wing dings were a bit overcooked, and much much smaller than i expected. The mac and cheese came cold, in a container that was labeled with the date, so I am assuming it was made in a much larger batch earlier. No big deal, but it was kind of annoying that I had to heat my own food up after ordering it fresh. Speaking to the taste, it seemed like something you could get packaged from Gordon's Foods... Lastly, i ordered the banana pudding. It was exactly that, banana flavored pudding. So if you are ordering this hoping for the vanilla wafers and layered pudding, it is not what you're going to be hoping for. Will i be back? Yes. But only to eat the shrimp. read more

Was easy ordering online. Received food 15 minutes late from pickup time. 5 of that was because no one could take it of the done rack to give it to me in a timely manner. The coleslaw was really small. Also had hush puppies and they were ok. The catfish nuggets and fries were really good and filling. We were anxious to try it since it meant a shorter trip (versus the one on Michigan Ave.), or we could grab it easily on the way home from work, but we no longer go here. When they first opened, they seemed to be on-par with the original location taste-wise. But as time went on, the inconsistencies grew (too much or too little lemon pepper, overcooked), and the professionalism wasn't there (playful staff not paying attention to the customer, or just plain apathetic). Not saying that the original location was more professional, it just wasn't as apparent because the chicken was consistently good. After a couple of wrong orders, and more overcooked or lightly seasoned chicken, we called it quits. We haven't been there in many months and won't be back. read more

The Old guy in the hat Fries up some of the best chicken in the state. Adding a unique Lemon Pepper seasoning is a MUST for all items. The fact that people give this a bad review is criminal. I ordered 20 wing combo came with fries and coleslaw. Also order a 6 wing combo. Let's start with the 20 wings. They advertise them as whole wings, they not. They are these little baby size wings dings. I ask for Bbq sauce and Garlic parm. It just seems like they put the sauce on as an afterthought and the garlic parm wings was just parm and that wasn't even good. The wings were flavorless no nothing. Will never order from here again. I ordered about $20 worth of food last night. When I got home I realized that a little under 1/2 of what I ordered was wrong or missing and none of the extra sauces I paid for had been included. I ordered a kids chicken nugget- it was nothing but grizzle and was too chewy to even really eat, fries which were soggy and undercooked, and a large pizza puffs just to name some issues. The biggest issue I had was my large pizza puffs. I only got one puff and a handful of soggy fries. As I was eating it, it tasted funny- not quiet cooked all the way. I finished it but threw the soggy grease coated fries away because I couldn't stomach them. Woke up this morning with food poisoning. Guess I understand why the pizza puffs tastes funny. NuWave in ypsi just lost a customer. Been going there doing cater sized orders for a minute. Last year I spent 300.00 on my sons Birthday party....BUT..today I was told that my food cant be dropped until we get there. I was complaining and wanted to speak to a manager. I thought it was unreasonable to have me drive 20minutes away and then wait an extra 15mintes. The woman said they are doing it this way because a lot of people been calling in food and not picking it up!!!..which has NOTHING TO DO WITH ME.... Asked to speak to the manager more than once and was denied to do so. Was put on hold and then was told I was yelling....I wasnt...but I was in a room full of people with the TV ob...so I guess she felt I telling so she started yelling. IM GOOD...terrible customer service. Spending damn near 100.00 to drive 20minutes out...and be told to wait another 15...then to get yelled at. I'd rather drive 40minutes to Detroit..spend 200.00 on a few pans of sweetwater chicken and fries. I hung up and Called Ann Arbor Chicken and fish and spent 100.00 with them. First time at this location and it wasn't the best. The Jamaican lady at the counter had a very nasty attitude. She hardly wanted to speak, just stood there looking mad like she didn't want to be at work . Very rude when asking questions about the menu, Then after she took the order she never even gave it to the cook. We sat there for 10 minutes before I asked the cook to add fries to a order he didn't even know we had. . All awhile she's sitting back down with an attitude. Really good food. I love the chicken and fish, the potato wedges are awesome, when they have them. Seems more than half of the time I'm there they don't have the potatoes for the wedges. They do compensate and give me extra regular fries and chicken or fish. The staff is great. Service is on the slow side. I highly recommend trying it out. read more

Terrible service I asked for fried chicken with no lemon pepper. I came to pick it up it had lemon pepper on it. When they realized their mistake they dip the chicken back in the oil to shake it off and reserved it to me as if it was a fresh batch and they knew it. A customer witnessed this occur along with me.
