This is the best taxi service from Ann Arbor to Detroit Metro Airport that I've found in years of travel. I think some of the negative reviews are from people who are reviewing other, similarly named taxi services. Punctual. My number 1 priority for an airport taxi. Check. Reliable. Texted after I reserved by phone to confirm time and address. Included picture of driver. Check. Removed stress. Called 15 minutes prior to pickup time, as promised, to confirm appointment. Check. Clean. Very. Check. No cigarette smell in taxi. Check. Safe driving. Check. I don't see how a taxi service can do any better than that. I am truly bewildered by these low ratings--especially because they depict the owner in a way I cannot recognize. Eddie is hardly "volatile"; I'd say the opposite. Eddie does not pick up from the DTW airport--he goes only from Ann Arbor to the airport. Those complaining about his pickup service from the airport therefore puzzle me. I had used this service 2 times in the past and it was always reliable. But recently I had a ride scheduled with Eddie for transportation to the airport and he failed to show up. I had even confirmed the scheduled pick-up time and location with him the day prior. When I realized he wasn't showing up on time, I called him but his phone went right to voicemail. I left him a message reminding him I was waiting for him but he never called me back (and never showed up). I had kept his business card in my wallet as I travel to the area often for business. I've now thrown out the business card as I will never book him again. If you need transportation in the Ann Arbor area to/from the Detroit airport I recommend Zirker Transportation. My only true wish for Christmas is that this review could be read by every single person traveling to the Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor area forever and ever. This man, Eddy, is in the wrong business. He should not be allowed in a service role where he has to be around people. To give you the highlights upfront - I was literally forced to spend a 15 minute cab ride being verbally assaulted by a man like I was a young child. I almost called the police from inside the cab because I was afraid for my life. I'm not exaggerating or being dramatic. This man called me "elitist", "entitled" "ungrateful" and a "snob". When I tried to speak he told me to "shutup or I will stop the car on the road and throw you out". I had a flight. I had to make. My only course of action was to sit there and take it for 15 minutes or call the police. I asked him to please not speak to me anymore and he told me that "I wasn't the boss of him and he would stop the car and leave me if I didn't shut up" I had a rough morning beyond belief and for some strange reason, Uber would not respond to a 6:45am request. After waiting 15-minutes for Uber to respond, the hotel I was staying at tried a few cabs who were also not answering and then finally this guy. Oh, how I wish I had decided to walk to the airport. Eddy showed up 20 or so minutes from the initial call (with his wife in the passenger seat) and because I wasn't smiling and didn't say good morning enthusiastically loud enough - this man lit into me in the cab and I mean lit into me. I BEG YOU - please please do not use this man. I'm going to call the hotel and let them know about what happened and I seriously am considering having the local police pay him a visit. Never used this service before. After realizing I got my schedule crossed I booked them last minute to pick my disabled mother-in law up at Metro and take to Brighton. They did great job getting her picked up and to and in the car and dropping her off. Thought the price to Brighton was very reasonable - would definitely use them again. read more

Eddie is volatile, dangerous, and unreliable. He kicked me out of his van and left me on the side of the road after I accidentally splashed a small amount of coffee on his seat. He verbally abused me and became physically confrontational, threatening to attack me even after I left the van and began calling a cab. PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. read more

After a long week on the road, I arrived at DTW to find out he will not be picking up. He texted me to tell me I gave him in the wrong flight number. He waited to confirm my flight number until 30 minutes before my arrival. If he simply looked it up earlier..he could have called me to get the right flight number. I would give them no stars if I could. This driver is honestly crazy. He states he has an allergy to chemicals of all kinds. He spent 15 minutes in the car telling me about his allergies. He has signs on the back of his seats asking customers to not put on lotions, hand sanitizers or perfumes. Apparently, I got on his bad side when I put on lip balm - the "lip medex" brand that has a slight medicated smell - and the guy went bizerk. He starts to literally yell at me and insult me. He told me I'm a "typical woman", that even as a "doctor" I had the audacity to put on chemicals in his car. He told me I "chemicalized" him and "his throat was swelling up". I asked him not to yell and told him that he was being condescending and he got more amped up. As he continued to berate me for the last 5 minutes of my taxi ride, I told him that I would put all of this on Yelp and Angie's list. Obviously he got more angry and told me I was going to ruin his business. He proceeded to make a scene, yelling at me, in front of the airport doors. I had handed him my credit card to pay the $45 but he wouldn't run it, he just kept yelling. So I shoved him what cash I had, $40, and got away. I actually had employees of DTW come up to me after the incident and ask me if I was OK. They told me that this driver "does this all the time" and that I should report him. One of the employees told me about another time when he made a similar scene and actually yelled at a UM student that he hopes her plane crashes. I would highly recommend that you not take this cab company unless you want to be yelled at and insulted. This driver needs to recognize that he is hired to perform a service and if he doesn't know how to be civil to a acquaintance, much less a customer, that he should not be in a customer service industry. read more

I pre-paid round trip service with Metro Eddie, thinking that I was getting a better deal than paying two one-way trips. We confirmed the arrival date multiple times (over phone, in person when i was dropped off to the airport), but he never showed up the day of my arrival. I called his phone multiple times, tired after a 13-hr International flight, left multiple messages, but NEVER heard back from him... not that day, nor any days afterwards. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend. He was very nice on the phone but was more than half an hour late in getting my daughter for her trip to Ann Arbor. His communication wasn't good. He finally texted her when he was 10 minutes away and said he would be there in 3 minutes. When he finally got there, his girlfriend was in the car with him (?!?!?) and he was on the phone with Office Max. He did not greet my daughter or get off the phone. One of the drivers at this place almost hit me because he didn't use his blinker before getting over into my lane. Then, he went about 10 mph in front of my just to anger me. When I finally got around him, he laid on the horn behind me at every stoplight. (He had a customer in his van to top it all off!) If that wasn't bad enough, when I called to complain, the person that answered the phone said the driver had called in and complained about me! (I was tailgating somehow, even though I was a lane over?) The person on the phone actually yelled and and cursed at me, and then hung up on me! Unbelievable!!!! Worst customer service ever. I came into the Detroit airport needing to go to the University of Michigan Medical Center. I called the Ann Arbor Metro Shuttle about getting a ride from the airport, and he said that there were no shuttles available as I had not made a reservation. I completely understood, but when I asked about other options, he said that there weren't any and that I would have to either take a cab or walk. When I complained about his service and his nasty personal manner, he told me not to get off the phone because he wanted to tell me what he thought of me. Then he called me names including "big mouth." Completely unprofessional. I ended up taking a private car for 61$ flat rate compared to Ugly Eddie's 40$ charge. But it turns out there's actually a better shuttle service with a similar name: Ann Arbor Airport Shuttle. Also, you can take the Michigan Flyer shuttle from the airport to the Sheraton Hotel. I would recommend any of these options over Metro Eddie. read more

I have been an international traveler since early 1970s and this shuttle service is the MOST RELIABLE AND SAFE of the lot that I have taken. The servcie there when you want it, the inside of the vehicle is thankfully clean and cushioned and quiet and you get to where you're going without having to worry about the driving skills of your driver. I can't say enough about this guy. On top of which, Eddie is super-knowledgeable of the Ann Arbor area (I know, I used to live there) and would you believe his prices are still as low as they were decades ago (I don't know how long he can keep that up). read more

I called and made the reservation with Eddie two days in advance. When I got to the airport, I tried calling him repeatedly, but there was no one to pick up the phone. The shuttle was no where to be found and there was no way to reach the driver. He didn't even respond to the messages I that left on the phone. I have taken the Ann Arbor Metro Airport Service with Eddie many times, both for work trips and personal travel, and have always been picked up on time and dropped off at the airport safely. The price is fair and so far the service has been excellent. As of now I plan to continue getting my rides to the airport through Eddie. read more

Metro Eddie is indeed a volatile individual as one of the previous reviews stated. I highly recommend you seek airport shuttle service elsewhere. I also used his service recently, first go to to the airport and then get a return ride following my trip. I had to cancel my return ride from the airport at the last moment. Before I had a chance to offer sending him money for the inconvenience I caused, he started berating me on the phone, even saying how he knew I was a jerk when he picked me up in the first place. We have used them several times before (we have a UM account). They were perfectly happy to take me to the airport until I said that I needed a 5:30 am pick up. Then, miraculously, they were full in the morning. Additionally, on three occasions on pick ups from the airport, despite a reservation, they said all of their cars were out. I would give them no star, if there is an option. For those of you who are not interested in detail review: This company would force you to pay more than 15% tip, if you are paying with credit/debit cards. Also they didn't show up in the airport at my return flight and never returned my call. So if you don't want this to happen to you. Don't use this company! This is what happen to me: I made a reservation with the company for roundtrip to the DTW airport. The ride to the airport was fine, the driver was on time and the car was very clean. When I arrived at the airport, I gave him my credit car to pay and he used his iphone to swiped my card. I didn't have any cash, so I was going to add my tip to the card. However, whatever the app he was using to charge my card, didn't have an option to add tips by manual entry, but had icons that said "15%" "20%" "25%".. I asked the driver, if there is any option for 10% tip, he said NO, and so I would have to choose from those option.. Also I asked, if he can cancel the transaction, so that when he typed in amount to put on my card, I would manually add my tip, he said he doesn't like to do so. So i was stuck with those high tip options. Honestly, who gives that much tip to airport shuttle service, unless it was a personal limo or some other fancy services? Unwillingly I had to give him 15% tip and promised to myself that I would have some cash for my return trip so that I wouldn't have to give out unearned tips. The driver told me that he knows my return flight, so that he would pick me up when I come back, but I would have to give him a call before baggage claim to arrange where to meet him. This afternoon, I just got back from my trip. As I promised, I called the Ann Arbor Airport Shuttle when I landed to alert the driver that I arrived on-time. However the driver didn't answer his phone. So I left the message about my arrival and waited.. 20min passed by and I didn't get a call back. I called again, left another message. I told him that if I don't hear back from him shortly that I would just take a taxi from the airport.. Of course the driver didn't call me back and I had to take a Metro cab. It's been 4hrs since I first called him today, he hadn't call me back even to apologies. What kind of business is this? If you are looking for reliable shuttle service that wouldn't rip you off with unwanted tips, don't take Ann Arbor Airport Shuttle. I had ridden Custom transits several times in the past and for some reason I wanted to try some other companies for comparison...A big mistake. I also would have rated the service 0 stars were the option available. I was being picked up today and due to some flight delays it was taking a very long time for the shuttle to get headed back to Ann Arbor (one gentleman waited for over 45 minutes, myself 25). The driver entered the vehicle and began to make excuses for the delay, and I made the unfortunate error of asking him to not rationalize why there were delays and instead make a simple apology (I didn't raise my voice or directly insult him). The other 2 passengers and I then spent the next 10 minutes listening to "Metro Eddie" insult and verbally berate me -- my character, my attitude, my income -- the insults kept coming as his voice got louder and louder. When one nice woman attempted to get him to calm down he began to verbally attack her as well. When we reached the next terminal she was so concerned with her personal safety that she chose to exit the vehicle. He continued to raise his voice to her and then proceeded to throw me out of his van as I apparently was the cause of her deciding to find other transportation. I happily did so, but genuinely thought "Metro Eddie" was going to hit me once I exited the van. I'm sure he has his own version of the events, and he has a right to express those to anyone he so chooses. And I can admit that I probably never should of told him to not make excuses -- I put him on the defensive and that wasn't necessarily the right thing to do. However, his reaction to me and his actions towards the other woman passenger were totally out of line and were indeed scary. If you go to his webpage you will see that the company states "... we are 100% committed to service. For our customers, 'we go the extra mile.'" And "... we ...pride ourselves on being prompt 100% committed professionals and courteous to all of our customers." I think today's events are a fair indication that this isn't the case. I wish I had never expressed my frustration to this man because there were two other individuals that were forced to stay in the car with him back to Ann Arbor. I was very fortunate to get home comfortably and safely with the kind woman who tried to stand up for me while I was verbally attacked. She saved my day to be sure. read more

This company put me in a really bad spot--I made a reservation for an Ann Arbor - DTW ride on December 20 well in advance, knowing that it was the holiday season and that many students and others would be going to the airport. They called me 90 minutes before they were supposed to pick me up and told me they weren't going to make it. I was VERY lucky when I called another company, as they'd just had a cancellation/no show and had room for me, though they told me I had to be able to leave in 15 minutes. Had to really scramble. So I made it, but no thanks to Ann Arbor Metro Airport Shuttle. Pretty unprofessional to basically overbook right before Christmas. read more

I have used this service once and schedule a round trip thinking this guy is affordable and dependable. This was the worst experience in my life. first he was late and claimed there are two many traffic lights and each one was red all the time. dumbest excuse , second he was traveling with wife sitting on front seat that looked weird. the fact he was late did not apologize. As we were driving a long the highway his phone rang at least 24 times. and each time jumping one line after another thus endangering my life , his wife and himself. this man is danger to the society and people he serves. Totally unreliable. I booked a roundtrip service, and confirmed the return leg three days before in-person. Not only did the guy not show up, but the company didn't even answer the phone.
