Since then, he has been under the care of an incredible team at Compassionate Care in Ann Arbor. On the morning of May 2, Chipper wasn't acting like himself. He refused to eat and seemed to be having what I feared was an irregular heartbeat episode. I called the clinic, knowing they were closed, and was advised to take him to the nearest emergency hospital. I was scared and unsure of what to do next. Then something happened that I will never forget. I received a call from Dr. Forbes. She wanted to know what was going on with Chipper. Without hesitation, she chose to put her personal plans aside to come in and care for him. She told me to head to the clinic and check in online. She even said she was in her pajamas but would be there in about ten minutes to meet us. In that moment, I felt an overwhelming sense of relief. Knowing that Chipper would be seen by Dr. Forbes, someone who truly understands his condition, gave me hope when I needed it most. When we arrived, Dr. Forbes, along with Becky and another nurse, welcomed us with such kindness and compassion. They treated Chipper with so much care and treated me with the same level of empathy and understanding. You could feel how much they genuinely care, not just about the animals, but about the families who love them. Compassionate Care has always been wonderful to us, but this experience went far beyond anything I could have expected. The level of dedication, empathy, and selflessness shown by Dr. Forbes and her team means more to me than I can fully put into words. I truly believe that if it were not for Dr. Forbes and her incredible staff, this could have been a very different outcome. I am beyond grateful for everything you did for Chipper and for me. They take such great care of my senior…read morepup with arthritis (Acupuncture with Dr. Forbes has been so helpful) and my young high energy breed with anxiety (so amazing Dr. Forbes also provides behavioral consultations and support - really wish I found her sooner! so much on social media these days I am grateful they provide evidence-based medicine in the anxiety/behavior realm). They care for them as if they are their own and every single person I have met or interacted with has been very friendly and professional and I am shocked they don't have 5 stars across the board. The few visits we have had with Dr. Cervantes have also been great and got to the bottom of a medical issue after we first moved here, and every member of their staff has also been amazing and I truly feel they all care for my boys like they are their own (Special shout out to to the extra love and attention Brynn has given Cooper). I appreciate the lack of waiting room with curb side check in as both of my boys are anxious going to the vet and this makes it so much less stressful for them/me. She is exceptional, her and her staff compassionate and understanding, and they listen to their patients ~ two and four legged ones! I have been very selective as to the vet I use for my Service Dog Sammy, and the fact that she comes to us makes his experience much more calm and enjoyable. I also appreciate that she is all about proactive care through food and herbal solutions in order to slow down or even eliminate unnecessary damage in the future, since I rely on my service dog for many tasks his well being incredibly important to me, as well as his longevity!
