Two times with two different dogs, this Veterinary Hospital has taken care of my dogs when my vet was unable to get them in. One was the middle of the night where my elderly dog (17) was suffering and in pain. They were very compassionate and gentle with her. Just recently they took care of my puppy who had a bowel obstruction and needed surgery to get out the object. They explained everything in great detail and kept in constant contact with me on the progress. My puppy is home and doing well. When I was in to pick up my puppy up someone rushed in with an emergency. They handled everything swiftly, professionally and with care. I would highly recommend this place. I wouldn't go here if you can help it. They were the only place open so it was our only option. Staff was nice and the faculty is big. But there's no sense of urgency if your pet is having a real emergency. We waited forever for the doctor to even see my cat and he ended up dying from something that I believe was completely treatable if they acted sooner. read more

I am heartbroken and deeply disappointed with the care our dog Brantley received at this clinic. He was seen for difficulty breathing, lethargy, and weight loss. Despite clear warning signs and concerning X-ray findings, we were told he had pneumonia and sent home with antibiotics and prednisone -- no hospitalization, no urgency, and no further diagnostics recommended. After 10 days with no improvement, we sought a second opinion. The second vet reviewed the same X-rays and immediately said Brantley should have been hospitalized right away. They strongly suspected cancer, and unfortunately, they were right. Brantley passed shortly after due to advanced cancer that had already spread to his lungs. The first vet's misdiagnosis cost us precious time, and quite possibly, his chance at comfort or a fighting chance. We trusted them with his life, and we were failed. I understand that not every illness is straightforward -- but there was a lack of urgency, a lack of caution, and a lack of responsibility. If your pet shows serious symptoms, I urge you to get a second opinion. I wish we had. read more

Our dog had a cardiac emergency on the afternoon before a holiday weekend. Our primary care vet called ahead, we were ushered to a room soon after arrival, and spoke with a vet not long after they got her settled. Yes, the office was exceptionally busy and the phones were ringing of the hook--it was the 4th of July, after all--but each team member we spoke to during her 24 hours there and when she was back for a test the following week was kind and helpful. The two vets who called with updates while she was an inpatient spoke to us at length, as did the vet who we spoke to us after her subsequent imaging appointment. Her records were sent to the specialist we followed up with within a couple of hours of me contacting them. EVH got the dog and the dog's people through a rough time, and I am grateful. read more

Our dog was having a moderate allergic reaction on a day when our usual vet was not open so we took her here and got quick care at a reasonable price for an emergency visit. The staff was very nice and extremely thorough in explaining their findings and what we needed to do to do to keep the swelling/reaction at bay over the next couple of days. It's stressful to go someplace you and your pet aren't familiar with in an urgent situation, but I couldn't be more grateful we ended up here! My puppy vomited about 8 times in an evening. That only two places in town had a vet on duty. The one closer to my house had a 4-hour wait so I called here. They also had quite a long wait but they took my puppy inside pretty quickly and within a couple hours the vet called after she had examined the dog. They kept the dog overnight and released her the next morning. Everyone that I dealt with there was helpful and the vet was very good about explaining the problem and treatment. read more

This place awful, I came in 1/19/23 with my dog barley breathing with her tongue hanging out her mouth, they took her back evaluate her, 4 hrs later they called me in to let me know she needed hospital stay, they said she was dehydrated and Kidneys and she would need 2-3 day hospital stay, price between 1,200-2,000 and they couldn't give her an IV until she gotten admitted, at this point my dog went without fluids for almost 6 hours. Next day we came to visit they said she tested positive for an infection and been having seizures ( which was something that she been having) but she looked like she was getting better but still not a 100%, Dr said they wanted to watch her another day see how she doing with meds and IV, I called around 7:30pm, Dr called back around 8pm and said Lola did a complete change, she was trying to bit tech and was standing up on her own a little and she felt comfortable sending her home tonight with meds, she gonna run blood work one more time and call me back, I was so happy and an hr later a man Dr called me back and said she not doing good and need to stay another 24hrs which would bring my bill to 2,300-2,600, I'm like what happened I just talk to other Dr an hr ago, he like I'll just have someone call u back with prices, she calls back very rude and we went back in forth and I was like I'm coming to get her, got there and my dog was in same condition I brought her in, I was heartbroken and no one could tell me what happened or was it a guarantee she was gonna be k rather she stayed another 24 hrs or not, deep in my heart I believe they did something to her and racism did play a part, ( I'm African American) the rudeness me and my family suffered, I do want to say not all staff was rude, I took her home and she passed within a few hrs, none of the doctors said sorry for ur lost or anything, only person did was the African American boy at front desk, just do ur homework when choosing a place to take ur pet, Im heartbroken and left with unanswered questions and no one's trying to give them to me, that was my baby for 12yrs, me and my family still grieving my father lost so this just broke us all over again, luv u Lola with all my read more

My toy australian shepard was attacked by a deer today, and these people told me I couldn't bring here to their clinic until I filled out a form from the internet...inexcusable! My sweet little dog died from the attack from internal injuries. I had to take her to a very caring vet hospital in east Ann Arbor to get immediate attention. The worst experience I have ever had with a veterinarian! I took my 10 year old blue nose pitbull to this disorganized unethical hospital for care on thanksgiving. He had been having diarrhea and vomiting for 24 hours. They did an X-ray and suggested putting a scope with a camera and a grabber to try and get whatever was in the X-ray out. They found a lot of grass but nothing he probably couldn't digest himself. They gave him enough medicine for only 5 days and sent him home. He was doing great while on the medication, even passed some grass. When the medication ran out, the Symptoms returned. they told me to bring him back so I did. At the office he was taken rite back and i was told to go and wait for their call. They left my dog in there office with no treatment and no water for over 6 hours he became even more dehydrated and they needed to have IV fluid. They took X-rays to look for a blockage and when none was visible wanted to do exploratory surgery. I spent well over $3500 for 4 days of the worst care ever! When I tried to pick up my dog for a second opinion they said the vet I'm taking him to will cost another $1,000 to $9000 . Needless to say they ripped me off and tried using scare tactics to get more of my money. Taking my dog for a second opinion now , Great news found a wonderful emergency vet!! Blue Perl on Inkster rd in SouthfieldMI!!! They were awesome!!! Super organized and professional. They gave my dog an ultra sound and he is absolutely fine! He may need Prilosec in the future if his stomach acts up again. And no more eating grass in excess:) read more

My dog became very ill in a very short time and I was frantic to find help for him. I was able to reach out to the Emergency Veterinary Hospital of Ann Arbor, explained his condition and was told to bring him right away. The staff met me at the door and transferred him right in to see the Dr. The staff was wonderful! Sympathetic and kind, the Dr explained his condition and was very honest and supportive. It was a very very sad decision, but there was no question about the outcome. They could not have been kinder and the whole experience was made easier. Earlier, I had called another emergency animal hospital ( that closed at 7pm) and then referred to another that closed at 7pm, well. One of them told me that there was a $900 deposit for critically ill or injured animals that need immediate attention. That is out of reach for so many people who love their pets and want to take care of them, but just cannot afford that. The Emergency Veterinary Hospital of Ann Arbor just charged a very reasonable amount for the visit and other charges were well within reason. I was able to afford the services and decided to have a private cremation. This is all very sad, but something that all pet owners and pet lovers face at some point. I cannot say enough about this hospital and the staff. I will keep their contact info in my phone and gladly recommend them to all my friends with pets. Thank goodness that there are facilities that understand and just want to do what is right for the animal and their person. Thank you! read more

Open during a multi day power outage. Brought my 7 year old dog with a eye infection. Staff was excellent and really worked hard to service everyone despite power issues including the phone lines. They went through their estimated cost and thorough background. Then performed a eye scratch test and infection stuff. Sent us home with prescription eye drops. Great service! Christmas week, my cat Opie needed to be taken to the emergency vet. Since my regular vet was closed for the holiday, I called Emergency Veterinary Hospital on Jackson Rd, Ann Arbor. I signed in online on their website to get an appointment, then showed up later the same day to drop him off. I feel like this eliminates some of the frustration of waiting, waiting, waiting and wondering when an emergency clinic will see your pet. Of course everyone is stressed due to the covid situation and not being able to go into the clinic. I feel communication went very well for how busy the place is. Both veterinarians were communicative and answered all my questions. Most importantly, they diagnosed Opie and after him needing to be in the hospital for two nights, he is now home and healthy! The estimates I would say are reasonable for any emergency vet. And, even better, the cost ended up being on the lower side of the total estimate they gave me. Yay! So far I've taken both of my cats here over the years and it makes me sad that they were recently cyber bullied. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this place! read more

Took my dog in for swelling on neck it was a large abscess that had to be drained. Took 7 hours to receive care I understand that critical care comes first but updates on time line should be communicated. Then was charged $1129 and still have to pay for meds at pharmacy. I understand its an urgent care clinic but jeez very money greedy in my opinion definitely will not return to this price gouging establishment. On plus side staff was friendly. read more

I can not say enough kind things about this hospital. We have actually been here twice, the first time my dog Bugg ate some ibuprofen and they took good care of him. But this time, man this time just blows me away. My dog Ariel was 13 years old, she's been through a lot, cancer, cancer treatment, cancer coming back, cushings disease, and old age. We've been waiting for the right sign from her that she was ready to go, and today she gave the sign. I couldn't get into our regular vet, so we called up this place and they took us right in. The room they put us in was so nice, they had a little couch and treats for her, and they told us to take aalllll the time we want. Gail the front desk person spent so much time with us, she looked at pictures of Ariel with us, and when I wondered if I was making the right choice, she gave us such an insightful view on everything. She really put us at ease. She made this painful experience 100x better than I could have ever imagined. I wish I could remember the names of the two vet techs who helped us too, because they were wonderful as well. They talked to us and helped us be at ease with our decision. They handled Ariel sooo well, I just couldn't be more thankful. Ariel's passing was as peaceful as we could have ever imagined. They gave her a sedative and then handed us a button. They told us to take as much time with her as we needed, and press the button when we were ready. We took our time and not once did anybody pressure us to hurry. When we were ready, Dr. Lindsey came in and administrated the final drugs. She was empathetic and kind, she was gentle with ariel and let us have all the time we needed with her afterwards. We were absolutely heartbroken leaving the vet today, but the experience we had with this staff...wow. Just wow. They were absolutely phenomenal, especially Gail, and we just couldn't be more thankful. read more

When I got there to pick up my pet, I was on hold for 20 minutes before I hung up and texted them I was there. I even walked to the door to try to get SOMEONE to bring my pet to me. I don't want to say I'm complaining, as I was given an extremely decent price for the services my pet received. The staff that I did speak to were pleasant. They are just EXTREMELY busy and I know they're doing the best they can. This was my first experience at an emergency pet hospital, so I've nothing to compare it to. read more

They were more concerned with payment than with letting us spend the last moments of time with him. They wouldn't even bring him in the room to be with us until I paid. I had to argue to have him brought to my son while I went out to take care of the bill. He was in pain, so we didn't want him to suffer any longer than we had to, apparently its ok to suffer until the bill is paid. Zero compassion, the rudest person let alone vet I have ever dealt with! If you don't love animals, why are you even a vet! After the fact I have heard only terrible things about this place from everyone I have spoken to. I brought my bearded dragon into the emergency vet when she began to have a dark beard that started to get bigger and bigger. Her colors started to change and she was acting as if she was in a panic. My boyfriend and I rushed her to the emergency vet, hoping that they could help her. We thought maybe something had gotten stuck in her beard. When we got to the vet you have to call so they can let in. You then must sit in your car while they evaluate your pet. As we sat in the car waiting, they told us that we could leave and go out to eat, or do some thing while they took care of her. We waited for her out in the parking lot when we got the call from the vet to go over zillas history. We told them how we took care of her the things she ate what her tank was like then after some time has gone by they called back again, and explain to us that Zilla had an aneurysm that burst inside of her beard, and that there was nothing that they could do for her, Zilla needed a surgery that very few vets in the world can do. This vet was very kind to me as I started to grieve and had to make the decision to put zilla to sleep. When they did have zilla, they did put her under heat lamps I believe that they did take care of her. When this happened to Zilla, we didn't really have enough time to look into where would be the best place to take her. We just took her to the closest place that would take her in an emergency situation. When reptiles are euthanized there metabolism is slow so that means the vet keeps them for 24 hours to ensure there is no signs of life as we left zilla knowing that she was being put to sleep. It was very hard to not know when exactly she was going to pass when I picked a zilla up they had her wrapped in a absorbent pad, and they also made me a clay molding of her feet prints. My dog had injured his leg and was in pain. I tried to bring him in and found the entire experience at EVH to be very impersonal and they didn't end up helping my dog. I tried calling, but their automated system requires you to go to their website to schedule an appointment. Be careful when attempting to schedule an appointment. I selected one of the available times on their website, but the appointment isn't actually booked until they email a confirmation. Two hours after scheduling my appointment I hadn't received a confirmation or cancellation. I arrived for my 11:40am scheduled time and I was surprised that the front door was locked and I was required to call and navigate through the automated phone system again. Patients are required to wait in their car. The pandemic was 3 years ago, but you would never know it here. The COVID protocols are stricter than my doctor, dentist and my kid's pediatrician. Once the receptionist came outside she told me that they were full and would not be able to help my dog. I am disappointed they wasted my time and the receptionist didn't seem to care. I could have made an appointment else where and saved my dog hours of pain. If you value service this is not the place to go. read more
