The selection of things range from the necessary to the completely ridiculously unnecessary which is hilarious and I loved seeing some of the items they carried. However, with this kind of high quality often comes a high price. While the prices are not outrageous they will be slightly higher than your average pet store and that fortunately for us isn't a consideration as our little girl is treated as most parents treat their children. You can expect about a 10-15% difference in price with a much higher quality than you'd typically experience (especially in the treats case). The owner was a pleasure to chat with and shared all of his stories of past and current dogs which was awesome to hear about. He also told us about the history of the shop and what drove them to open it. These are good people just trying to fill a niche that wasn't covered previously when they opened their doors, and all three of us will gladly walk through those doors again and again whenever we find ourselves in the Portsmouth area :) Thanks again for the great conversation and Ruby says the treats were delicious!

I was open minded when I walked through the door. The place was clean and we were greeted warmly right away. The staff took our vaccination info and told us the groomer would be right with us. We went to lunch and wasted some time shopping before heading home. The office called my mobile number around noon to let me know my pup was ready to be picked up. The grooming was exactly what we asked for. I informed the staff of their negative social media presence and recommended they ask customers to tell their story. The last reviewer may have had a bad experience over a year ago, but my experience today was top notch. I reserve 5 stars for exceptional service but I believe 4 stars is appropriate for my experience today. Placed another special order for the same kind of fish, hopefully not deformed this time, never heard back from them. Last encounter was maybe a month or two back, went in to look for another kind of fish and plants, and was met by a worker who seemed pretty uninterested in being there/helping me. Overall weird vibes here and it's always kind of gross/wet/filthy. I want to like and support the local fish store but honestly I've had better experiences at both pet quarters and petco by the mall (which is a pretty low bar).

My adoption process a couple months ago went very well. I arrived without any pets, and left with…read moretwo kitties! I walked in without an appointment, a couple hours after opening. There were some people there, either in the main waiting room or walking through the separate pet areas... wasn't too busy. Was greeted by staff behind the counter and I told them I wanted to look at some cats. They have you fill out some paperwork, mainly about what you're looking for and what your home environment is like (senior cat, kittens, other pets at home, kids at home, etc) to help them in finding an appropriate cat for you. You wait for a bit so they can find a staff member to walk through the cattels with you. You get to meet them, and pick some up in some instances. I deliberated because I intended to get a senior cat, but many of them had behavioral or extra medical problems. I ended up getting a disgustingly cute and impossibly smol brother and sister, and they've been wonderful. It may not be the cheapest, depending on which pet you want to take home, but obviously that cost goes into the program and really, can you put a price on a new family member?
