I booked Anna Kim Photography for my destination wedding and it was really important for me to hire a team that had worked with my venue (Kukahiko Estate) so I could maximize the hours that were booked. I went with a 2 photographer/4 hour package and added an additional 30 minutes on the back end as I wanted to capture everyone enjoying dinner/speeches. My photographers were Jessica and Tom, and I am so grateful to them. We trusted them completely and just followed along as they gave us instructions. They made it so easy for us and even reminded us of guests that we didn't get a picture with. At the end of the night, they said their goodbyes and double checked that we got every shot we wanted. Fast forward to when we got our pictures back. I thought I knew what I was in for (as I've spent hours combing through their work at Kukahiko), but I was WRONG. The pictures EXCEEDED anything I could have ever imagined. Jessica and Tom are NINJAS. They got shots of moments that I didn't even know they were present for! This review is long overdue (almost 10 years) but it's because we continually use Anna as our family photographer and refuse to use anyone else. We first met Anna when she worked for another photographer that we chose to use on our Wedding day in Maui. She happened to snap one of our favorite photos of the day and we thought of her after she went out on her own to do our first family portraits when our daughter was 2. Since our wedding in 2010, we've hired her 3 times (our 4th this fall) almost every time we come back to Hawaii. She's like family now and her photos always capture our family just perfect. 3.5 stars After speaking with Anna and looked through the portfolio we asked Anna if any photos we saw were also her associates work. She said yes and because of that my husband and I felt confident enough to hire her associates instead due to budget limitations. I kind of regret doing so, but unsure if we would have still experienced the same issues. For one, we went 4 hours of coverage. We had Jes and Tom. They both arrived late, it was more apparent with Tom since my then fiancé, now husband had to call my Matron of Honor to ask if I had a photographer that arrived. She probably showed up a few minutes late. Because of her late arrival, I felt very flustered, I had no clue what she needed to take beautiful photos. My bridesmaids were unsure if they should get dressed or wait. So I didn't get any photos prior to getting dressed with my bridal party. The photos of our dresses weren't positions nicely or centered and looked rushed. We hired a videographer that Anna had recommended and he showed up EARLY to set up and make sure everything was good to go on our day. I really wished Anna Kim Photography had that same courtesy. Com'on we are paying over $3000, arriving early or at least on time wouldn't hurt. We were also nice enough to make sure dinner was provided to them. I felt so flustered I even forgot to wear my veil for the entire wedding. We received our wedding photos in about 5 weeks give or take a day or two. Contract states 6. During our group photo, Jes didn't instruct anyone! Our parents were hidden behind everyone. There's weird spacing between people. Why didn't Tom instruct people while Jes was taking the photos? Honestly it just seemed like we hired 1 photographer who couldn't handle the job fully. We received some photos where people were looking at Tom while Jes was taking photos. This is confusing when there's two cameras in different directions taking photos. I have photos where I was not ready (ie looking away or half way through blinking) and these were touched up and provided to me instead of better options. Some photos showed partial face or body half a face or body when the subject is someone else. In Chinese culture, people really hate this because it is considered bad omen. My mother in law was not happy with that. The price didn't include anything, but the 4 hrs of photography and slight touch ups. I am not entirely sure if I would hire them again if I had the chance to redo, but overall I'd give them 7/10. Our videographer always reminded me to smile and think of my now husband since I was feeling so nervous. Whereas the photographers failed to correct or notice details. Such as the time during first looks. My train had rolled up into a bundle from walking all the stairs and no one noticed until my husband saw. I'd like to add that Anna Kim Photography was pretty flexible in terms of refunds and rescheduling due to Covid. read more

Before my (now) husband and I even booked Four Seasons Maui as our venue or had anything for the wedding planned, we knew we wanted Anna Kim as our photographer. Her work is breathtaking and it was the exact style we wanted to capture our day. Thankfully, Anna Kim was a preferred vendor at Four Seasons and we were able to secure her for our wedding date. In our Four Seasons package, we got 3 hours of photography and 50 images, but we knew it wouldn't be enough for us, so we originally added on 2 extra hours and budgeted to purchase all photos (which includes printing rights). A few weeks before the wedding, we were looking at our timeline and we knew we needed to add another hour just to make sure we wouldn't be rushed and we could capture every moment. Photography (and videography) were our number one priority and looking back, we are so glad we had Anna for 6 whole hours. In fact, Anna even brought a second shooter, Jessica, to help her capture all of the details. About a week before the wedding, Anna and I connected on the phone just to make sure we were on the same page regarding the timeline and shot list. She was so sweet and easy-going....once again validating that we made the right choice. On the day of the wedding, Anna and Jessica showed up early and immediately got to work. They were both so friendly and chill. Nothing was rushed and everything felt pretty natural. They offered some gentle guidance on posing, but it was pretty relaxed and everything just flowed. They also had a ton of great ideas on the fly that went above and beyond the shot list. Loved that! At times I forgot they were even there because they just blended in. That, or I had tunnel vision and it seemed like my husband and I were the only two people in the world that day. They handled my family (some strong personalities in there) with ease and grace. We had about 40 people at our wedding, and a lot of them were bridal party and close family. They blazed through bridal party & family pictures so efficiently and quickly, which gave my husband and me tons of time for couple pictures on the beach. This was crucial for us since we didn't do a first look. They captured so many looks, played with different lighting, poses, angles....which gave us tons of options to pick from when the pictures came in. They also nailed the dramatic veil pictures (my favorite!). Also, we got all 1100 of our pictures in UNDER TWO WEEKS. I repeat, UNDER TWO WEEKS. How is that even possible? They were all retouched and perfect too. We were shocked when we saw the email come in that our photos were ready. I assumed it would take months to get them since Anna and her team are always super busy and have a ton of weddings, family shoots, etc. going on. But no, two weeks. Looking back at the pictures, it brought back all of the feelings from wedding day--peace, relaxation, and joy. That. Is. Service. (JVN voice) Can you believe? When I reached out initially I spoke with Anna who was extremely helpful and professional and on the day of the shoot, we had Nicole as our photographer. We were a family group of 13 with 6 of those being children. We had an amazing time with Nicole for our engagement photoshoot! Initially, I booked Anna but she was out of town the week we were visiting. I have two friends who have used Anna for their wedding and engagement photos in the past and highly recommended Anna and her team. This was our first time taking professional pictures so of course I was very nervous the day of but Nicole made me feel comfortable from the beginning. Surprisingly, one hour went by way too fast.. next time I will book at least 1.5 hours. We had so much fun with Nicole. She was very personable and easy going. Before we started, Nicole asked us where we wanted to start which I really appreciated. Since we knew we were taking our photos at Baldwin Beach I have known that I wanted to spend most of our time on the black rocks. I loved how the waves crashed into the rocks making our pictures looked so beautiful. I also loved how she really wanted to show off my dress and instructed me on various poses that I wouldnt have done naturally. At the end she asked us if there were any other spots or poses we wanted to do and of course I wanted to take pictures of us jumping in the air. Those are always fun! A few hours later we received 11 edited pictures and we were ecstatic. We had our shoot in the beginning of our one week vacation and it made us happy all week. My wonderful husband surprised me with a family photoshoot with Anna Kim while we were in Maui for our babymoon. Don't worry, he told me about the shoot a week before our trip so I could pick out our outfits and bring my makeup bag (I love my husband, but let's be honest, he would have failed miserably in this department). Highly recommend!! I did a ton of research before choosing a wedding photographer and realized that all my favorite photos I came across were from Anna Kim Photography, so I knew we had to hire them for our wedding at Olowalu! This review is specifically for Jessica as she served as the lead photographer for our big day and we couldn't be happier with the results. We did a six hour photography package so were able to capture everything from our first look through the beginning of open dancing. Jessica was great about everything from helping pull together friends and family for our desired group shots to making sure that she got the lighting just right for my dream sunset photos. The turnaround time was also relatively quick as we received our edited photos back in just under a month and the only hard part has been choosing our favorites from the nearly 1000 shots! read more

Anna took our engagement photos in Maui and is not only enormously talented (just take a look at her portfolio or Instagram for incredibly breathtaking photos) but also an absolute joy to work with. She made my fiance and me feel so at ease -- like we were hanging out with a best friend -- since we were just chatting during the entire photo shoot.
