Jonelle is an incredible photographer! I booked her to capture my proposal, which included a 30 minute photo sesh before we sat down for dinner. Let me just start out by saying that my fiancée and I are possibly the worst models ever. We were so awkward during the entire shoot. But Jonelle told us what to do, where to stand, and she knew the location like the back of her hand! The photos look amazing and totally candid and natural. We couldn't be happier with the way that they turned out. My favorite photo is the Shaka picture (attached), which she suggested. It's our favorite picture and it's definitely getting framed and hung up in our house! This was our first time visiting Maui w/our family of 4, with a 5 and 2 year old, and had planned on getting family pictures on the trip. After deciding to have Jonelle do our shoot, we couldn't be more satisfied with the end-to-end experience. 1) Pre-communication: Jonelle was super friendly on the phone and via email, giving us recommendations on the area, trip, where to eat, what to bring, etc. 2) During the shoot: Given the challenges of trying to keep the attention of two young kids for an hour, Jonelle was a mastery of her craft. Not only was she able to be playful with the kids, she also mastered the lighting, angles, and shifting clouds of the beach. We appreciated how she let nature dictate the best shots. Our kids constantly asked where Jonelle was, even after the shoot. 3) Results: We were hoping for a couple of "print and hang"-able photos as they can be hit or miss. Not only did we get the photos turned around quickly (4 days!), but we couldn't be happier with the amount of quality shots that Jonelle was able to capture. Lawrence was AWESOME!! He's an amazing photographer, made my husband and I feel so comfortable during our maternity shoot, the photos turned out absolutely stunning. Deciding to have Jonelle take our honeymoon pictures was the best decision! I looked her up on yelp before, liked her style and reviews. Now that I now have our pictures in hand, I just wanted to say that the pictures turned out amazing, and also importantly, Jonelle was very personable and made the whole experience enjoyable. We really weren't sure how to pose/where to look, so we asked for help. Jonelle was experienced in guiding us the whole way with tips on how to stand, sit, place our hands so they didn't look awkward, and even where to look for our gazes. Photos can be challenging, because a tilt up of the head can make your face unflattering or an awkward arm hanging out can look terrible and ruin the photo! Jonelle's guidance made a huge difference in how my pictures turned out. The photos were much more flattering and natural-looking too, when compared to the pictures I take myself. I realized the whole experience includes the photographer's ability to guide her subjects well, which Jonelle was just great at. Also to note, my husband, who really does not like to take pictures, said Jonelle helped him feel comfortable being photographed. She also got a large variety of shots and in different backgrounds, even in a 1-hour shoot, much more than I thought possible. Also, just so people know, professional photographers edit photos afterwards for lighting, etc. Jonelle's editing, in my view, preserves the color and natural lighting. You can see for yourself. I really like this about her photos, because it seems that some other photographers do a more Instagram-like look (more faded). While it is a style preference of course, I like the more realistic/natural look. Overall, Jonelle went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with my photos. If I am ever so lucky to be photographed again by Jonelle, I would most definitely do so. We will cherish our photos for our lifetimes. Use Jonelle for any of your Maui photography needs! I set up a time, date and location ahead of time with her to capture the moment of my engagement in Paia and she really helped us to make it special. She actually helped me plan out all of the details over the phone months before we visited. She was already at the location when we arrived and did an amazing job of blending in so my future fiancee never suspected that she was there to shoot us. She captured some incredible shots from the moments before, during and after I popped the questions. This was all followed by an impromptu engagement photo session on the beach afterwards in which she had us in various poses. Jonelle was a referral from a photographer we planned on using who was unavailable for our wedding day/time. She answered on the first ring and was super friendly. Unfortunately, she was not available for our wedding shoot(she just booked the slot 20 minutes prior to my call). Even though she was not able to film our wedding she asked if she could help out with our trip in any way. I asked if she knew how to find discounted hotels/condos in the area. She told me of different websites to find deals and even took 10 minutes to do the search for me!!! The photos turned out absolutely incredible and are being displayed in our home. Jonelle cares about every detail of your photos. She picks the best locations and times and even gives you pointers about what to do and what not to do in certain poses. For example, she gave my instruction on how to make my arms look slimmer by placing them a different way. I was then able to use a lot of these tips to help me in my wedding pictures the next day. Jonelle was such a blessing to my husband and me. We were out on the beach the night before our wedding watching the sun set when we saw a photographer setting up for what was about to be a gorgeous photo shoot. I am a firm believer in reading reviews before i hire anyone . I am also a believer in being honest with feedback whether its good and bad. In this case Jonelle and Wailea Photography was AMAZING. First and foremost Jonelle was very easy to work with from long distance. We were going to Hawaii on a trip and so we had to coordinate everything Ohio. She was quick with email responses and she knew the area so she set up the shoot in a location that was convenient to where we were staying.I also found her prices to be very reasonable. Many things in Hawaii are expensive and it was refreshing to work with someone that was affordable but that truly has a passion and eye for photography. The day of our shoot we had so much fun with Jonelle . She was laid back, easy to work with and let us be ourselves. She worked with the sunset and did not set a timer from start to finish. Many photographers do that and will not go a minute over. We got our proofs/pictures not even a week after we took them.Jonelle did an amazing job with our engagement pictures.
