Anna Skin Care is fantastic for many reasons. First off, it is located in the heart of shadyside where there are many cool shops and restaurants to go to. It's located near CMU/Pitt so it is an easy bus ride (71B or D) away. Another thing that is super convenient about Anna Skin Care is that you can put in a reservation via email so you don't have to worry about calling during the business hours. Anna herself is wonderful. She's super friendly and remembered who I was even though the last time I came to her was about six months prior. She's also super quick and efficient so your trip there will be somewhat short. Her services are also college student budget-friendly as well. I go to her to get my eyebrows waxed and even though I may pay a couple extra dollars more than average, oh how she does justice to an eyebrow wax! I could not recommend this place more for someone looking to get an eyebrow wax/facial. read more

Anytime I am in the city, I try to book a facial with Anna because it is such a wonderful experience! She is truly the best. The store itself is beautiful - fresh and clean decor that immediately helps you relax and rejuvenate. The heated bed and meditation music add to the amazing atmosphere. Anna is great at telling you exactly what is about to happen so that there are no surprises! Some highlights of her facial include these amazing "ice balls" that she rolls over your skin - out of this world. And the oxygen treatment at the end - smells delicious and is quite refreshing. I called Anna Skin Care multiple times to try to schedule an appointment. No one ever picks up the phone, so I emailed them. They often take over 24 hours to respond to email, and when they do, they are a bit rude. I understand that they are a busy salon, but it is as if the person answering the emails does not want to help the customer to schedule an appointment. For example, if you give them a few preference days and times for appointments, they will just tell you that they "don't have those dates available" and they don't make an effort to help you find another time or date that would work. It took multiple emails before I could get them to send me a date and time. They told me that they have availability in mid March, yet gave me a March 28 date. I asked the woman multiple times if a facial includes eyebrows, and despite asking that question three times in three separate emails, I never got a response. She seemed almost irritated to have to schedule an appointment for me. I ended up finding another nearby salon in Pittsburgh where they actually pick up their phone and are very kind and helpful in assisting their customers to set up appointments. I will be sticking to this new salon from now on. read more

First off, I am picky. I search out the best facial in every city I live in (Boston, Santa Cruz, Atlanta, Chicago, not to mention my stints in the UK and Canada). So far, without doubt Anna's is the best. La Vida (Shadyside) was so mediocre I couldn't get over it. Eva Szabo (East Liberty) was thorough but felt perfunctory and not worth the cost. Evolve Wellness Spa (Shadyside) was underwhelming and rushed. And UPMC Cosmetic (Shadyside) was the same. Good but not great. Anna's is great. The perfect mix of pampering and technique: the hot stones are luxurious and amazing, but she also knows how to analyze and treat skin. Everytime I see her I feel like the *right* decisions are being made for *my* skin, rather than some pro-forma set of procedures. I cannot recommend her enough. read more

Such a lovely experience! Anna is super nice and her tiny spa is very calming and elegant. $10 off facials for first time customers, making her facials pretty reasonable. I got the Deep Detox, which felt really healing and clarifying for my summer acne. She also had a lot of knowledge about what might be causing my skin problems and some interesting solutions I hadn't heard before.
