For this third visit, I had made an appointment via text about a week prior and requested balayage with a haircut. When I got there, I just showed a few pictures of what I was looking for (from their IG page), answered some quick questions, and let Louis work his magic. I couldn't stand looking at my roots anymore, so I took a deep breath and went to my appointment yesterday. The place is easily accessible by the F and G Fort Hamilton subway stop. Just two blocks away. The salon is very tiny but didn't seem cramped. I got there 10 minutes early, but I didn't have to wait more than that before Ashley brought me to her chair. She's so nice, sweet, and welcoming. Got right down to the consultation. I told her I wanted a good chunk of length gone, and she immediately cut a few inches. Went into the color after that and then the cut and beautiful styling. The dye process took no more than 30 minutes. I picked a violet color, and it came out so beautiful. Throughout the whole process, she kept the conversation flowing without any awkward long silences. Offered water, coffee, and tea. It was just a chill experience overall. Let's face it. Getting your hair cut and styled anywhere in NYC is not cheap! Although this salon does have prices on the cheaper side, even though it costs almost twice as much as I usually spend. I'm okay with it, though, because when something is good, I'm willing to shell out the bucks for it. I had a all over color for $145, and the cut was $75. If you use a card, they charge you a 3% processing fee, so bring cash if you don't want any added expenses. Something I really like about this salon is that they don't try to sell you on products. They also don't try and bilk you with tons of services or more appointments than needed. I appreciate that. I definitely will be back!

When I got home and dried/straightened my hair I cried for a good 10 minutes. Needless to say I was not happy at all. I brought a picture with me of what I had wanted to be done with my hair and the stylist disregarded the picture and whatever I said about cutting off as little as possible. I had wanted long layers with long bangs, instead she cut off over a foot of my hair and cut it straight across sans layers. I was expecting 4-6 inches of my hair to be taken off from the dead ends, but not over half of it. Under any circumstances do not let these women style your hair. They give great blowouts and washes and sets, but DO NOT let them any where near you with a pair of scissors. Mind you I only paid $20 for my cut and I have learned my lesson well. Never again will I go back here, or pay $20 for a cut. Thankfully, my hair grows somewhat fast.
