It's not the best wine we've ever had but it was pretty scenery and a great place to bring a picnic lunch and play board games with friends.

We were driving down the California coast and were looking for somewhere to do some wine tasting. Annapolis Winery was the only place in the area, but it's a 25 min detour from Hwy 1 in each direction on a long windy road. We decide to try it out. We get there and we are the only customers. Not sure if there is any seating in the inside but we grabbed a table outside to enjoy the views. A guy came out and gave us the tasting menu which is three pre chosen wines for $20. We do the tasting and was incredibly underwhelming. They poured the wine and that was it. No education or description provided. We did the tastings and left. At the end of the day, it was a bit of a waste of time. read more

Nice and open spacious wine valley scene! Had a pleasant time here enjoying the sunshine and wine! It was lovely to just bathe in the sun while sipping on wine for a weekend! A bit slow on the service and not quite well-equipped on the selections of cheeses. It was kind for the lady wine pourer to offer it, regardless. It was still in their priced packaging from Costco! Picked up a couple of bottles we liked. It's a good pop by winery if you're in Sea Ranch road tripping through. read more

I can't believe there aren't any recent reviews for this place! We drove the 20 minute windy drive from where we are staying in Sea Ranch. This is a beautiful small winery in a lovely setting. We got away from the chilly coastal weather and had some really good wines! There were 3 wines on the tasting menu - a Pinot, a cab sauv and a late harvest Gewürztraminer - for $10. You could also purchase a glass of sparkling wine made from Chardonnay for $10. The Pinot wasn't to our liking, but we loved the rest of the wines! The late harvest Gewurztraminer was a surprise. Not too sweet, and lower alcohol than a lot of dessert wines. I highly recommend a visit if you are in the Sea Ranch area. You could bring a picnic and enjoy the setting and the wines. read more

We went on an adventure up the hill to this remote Winery. I found the owner & wine maker to be very helpful, informative and welcoming. But, I was disappointed that there were only three offerings for tastings. Many of their vintages were already sold out, when we visited in late November 2017. When you drive this far into the hills, you want a little more. Perhaps, they could share their space with another Winery? It would make the experience richer, and more worthwhile. My friends and I rent houses in Sea Ranch on HWY 1 every year (6 years now for me) when we go to our favorite yearly event, The Booneville Beer Festival. We cap off the end of our stay every year with a wine tasting and picnic at Annapolis. Located about seven miles off HWY 1, getting to Annapolis is a bit of a drive. Expect to deal with winding roads about six of the seven miles, but you'll enjoy the scenery as it will take you through some of the states beautiful coastal Redwoods. Annapolis is tiny as far as wineries go, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in heart. The folks at Annapolis take great pride in their grapes which spills over into their wonderful wines. We always sample the wines first, as the menu often changes from year to year as stocks deplete and new varieties are vinted. Then we spend several hours (they don't mind at all!) in the meadow like surroundings playing frisbee, flying kites, drinking wine and eating bread, cheese and basically whatever we brought with us. They have gotten to know us quite well over the years, and we have all fallen in love with the place. So much so in fact that one couple from our group was married there last June! It was awesome! Annapolis Winery is simply one of my favorite places in the state. My favorite wines were their Gewurztraminer and the Zinfandel Port , which our friends also served at the wedding. Unfortunately they are both sold out! But I recommend their Pinot Noir or the Syrah , but you can only get the latter if you are a member. Luckily we have member access :) read more

This winery is off the beating path and is the furthest west of Sonoma country. This is a small production most of the grapes are estate grown on the property. Erin the owner and wine maker took us through his wines that were available the 2012 Barbera Rose Spicy bing cherries and raspberry a baking spices. 2007 Pinot noir. Was heavier viscosity than normal low alcohol have. Zesty pomegranate dark stone fruit with a cinnamon, clove finish. 2008 Zinfandel Fruit Blackberry, figs and tea with a spicy mint finish. 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Blueberries with tobacco fennel mint this was the most complex wine poured here 2008 Zinfandel Port Not too sweet and no alcohol brandy burn. Very well balance non syrupy port. Take a day trip and check this awesome winery out! read more

After driving thirty minutes up a windy hill, seeing the signs for Annapolis was a welcome sight (a few members of our party definitely took Dramamine with their first sip of wine). The staff is incredibly friendly and the wine is exceptional. Their Barbera is stellar and at a reasonable price point. The view is also gorgeous. Perfect place for a midday picnic. Across the road we also bought plum jam, blackberries and olive oil from the sisters who run the StarCross farm . Came here today for a lovely wine and food pairing with my husband, mom, and stepdad. Aaron and Sophie were so kind, pouring and stuffing us silly with Pinot Noir, Cab, and Zin, each better than the last. After the tasting, Aaron poured us some Barbera that'll be bottled in the last half of 2014 - mark your calendars now because it was delicious right out of the tank. Just a hop, skip, and 7 mile drive up a hill, you will find Annapolis Winery along Hwy 1. Don't miss it! That sign that say "Winery" is not a fake. It will lead you up a gorgeous view of a drive through a small town called Annapolis. Barbara is possibly the sweetest wine pourer I've met, comping our tasting because it was a slow day. She'll give you a wink and a smile while she tells you the history of the surprisingly amazing wine her family makes. What an adventure finding this place on a whim....we HAD to buy a bottle of the 2007 Pinot that made our taste buds dance. This view is not to be missed either! It's no wonder it is a popular spot to hold events. I know we will be back sooner than later on our next Northern Cal adventure. Bring a picnic here! This is a very quiet winery tucked away in the mountains. On our way home from Mendocino we decided to stop by since we saw the sign. It has a lovely lawn area to enjoy a glass of wine and looks like a great place for a wedding. They have free tastings and many of their wines have won awards. Their wines are very reasonably priced (check out their website for more information). I believe the pourers of the tastes are the owners and they were very courteous and helpful. When they have the the late harvest sauvignon blanc, I highly recommend it if you like sweet wines. It almost could be a dessert wine. However, it tastes a bit bitter when the bottle is first opened. It tastes much better after a day of "airing out", chilling in the refrigerator. It is a bit of a drive and the road isn't paved (so no low-riding cars) but if you're passing by, it's worth the stop. read more

This is a small family run winery. We went there for the first time on our honeymoon 8 years ago and we came back this last time with our three kids! I didn't realize how long it had been since we had been up there. I loved it just as much as I did the first time, the owner is a very kind women! When we were there for our honeymoon she taught my husband and I how to wine taste and it had a lasting impression on us we will always come back for more. She took the time to explain things to us and it was awesome! It's dog and family friendly which is great because we have both! read more

On a Sunny day driving along Hwy 1 we saw a sign for wine tasting at the beginning of a road up a hill. We took a chance and found ourselves driving for what seemed like days up a twisting redwood road. We landed at the top of the hills to find ourselves here. Annapolis is a hidden gem in an overcrowded industry. We arrived and Barbara greeted us smiling and warmly welcomed us into the tasting room. She was very friendly and asked us about our trip and shared a little history about the winery. It is really a labour of love and you can taste it. Still a family run winery, their son is now the wine maker. We only tasted the reds (whites were sold out!) and particularly enjoyed the 08 Cab and the 07 Pinot Noir (we bought a bottle.) Their reds are complex and full bodied but soft on the tannins. Very well developed. I am very surprised that I have never seen their wine before, we will be enjoying our pinot with a nice steak and will have to return for more! Next time we will be sure and bring a picnic, there are tables out front over looking the valley. Gorgeous views! read more

Loved the picturesque drive to this quaint, tucked away winery. Sophie was our outstanding, interesting, fun, knowledgable tasting guide through this little winery's sampling. She even gave a us a lesson on making wine vinegar which was so cool and interesting! Now she might have been pulling my leg but when I mentioned we came in from Yelp reviews, she didn't know what that was! Seriously, I had to pull out my phone and show her the reviews and she was thrilled her name was mentioned in others reviews. Probably just messing around with me! I'm lucky enough to have grown up when the Napa Valley wasn't overrun with tourists and Big Winery, Inc. Annapolis Winery reminds me of how it used to be near Calistoga. It's a very small place, very casual, great wine and beautiful views. You really feel like you're able to learn a bit about the wine and area and have some interesting wines to take home. It's a great side trip from a Sea Ranch getaway and I'm not kidding, the wines are excellent and the atmosphere genuine. read more

After driving 7 miles on a very windy road we finally got there and it was closed..... so much for the sign and the website CLOSED!!!! The location is beautiful but the wine is also delicious! Our host Barbara was amazing and super friendly. The whole environment had a great vibe and even our dog was warmly welcomed! Their zinfandel port is amazing and we ended with a bottle of it and a bottle of Barbera. There were books with weddings there too and it looks like a great location for it! read more

There are not enough good things I can say about this little place. I have been coming here since 2005 and am always amazed at the consistency of the wines and of the folks who run this cute winery. This is a small mom and pop winery (as mentioned in other reviews) up in the hills of annapolis. Its about a 10min to 15min car ride off hwy 1. If you are stayihg in Sea Ranch or the general area this a is great spot to do a tasting and a picnic (a little out of the way but totally worth it trust me). The people here ROCK and are extermely hospitable, laid back, and knowledgable. As for the wines they clearly speak for themselves. If you like a Zin with A LOT of pepper theirs to me is the definition of just that. The Cabernet is pretty damn fatastic too. read more

I went up to Annapolis Winery a few weeks ago for my first crack at wine tasting with my boyfriend and his family and absolutely loved it! The woman working there was really nice and answered all of our weird/"obviously new at this" questions. I loved that we were able to purchase snacks and hang out in the grassy area too. It was quiet and the view of the tops of miles of redwoods was gorgeous. If Annapolis is a good representation of what wine tasting is like, I want to do it forever. read more

My husband and I stayed at a house down the road from this lovely little out of the way place and honestly were not expecting the wine was going to be anything more than decent since it's off the beaten path and not an area you expect wineries to be near. We were so happily surprised to find the owner there pouring excellent wine, and sharing wonderful knowledge of the local areas beautiful spots. We made a quick stop here on our way up the coast in July. You have to detour a bit off the main road, but it's worth a stop. Small tasting room, but the gal who poured for us was super nice and we were the only ones there on a weekday afternoon. The wines were nice; we purchased a bottle of Cab for our weekend AND one of the cool hand crafted bowls that they sell in the tasting room. We will go back next time we are up that way. read more

I'll be upfront but also very honest. I road my bike out to see if Barbara (the owner) was there on a Saturday. She last saw me 40 years ago when I was 12 or so (our parents were friends). Barbara was there and we talked for more than an hour. NOW for their wines. I thought the Cab was excellent as was the Pinot. I did not try their Port. All their wines had great body and a nicely distinctive taste to them. But the Cab and Pinot was top notch. Nice to see you Barbara. I will be back soon with my wife, :) read more

We had our 90-person wedding at Annapolis Winery in June of 2010. What a fantastic venue for a wedding with some "rustic elegance". This little family winery serves up very drinkable wines, but the sweeping mountain vistas, vineyard charm, reliable warm weather, very reasonable site fee, and its proximity to the beautiful vacation homes of Sea Ranch were the reasons we chose this place. The Winery did a fantastic job sprucing up the site for the event, but this place is definitely do-it-yourself when it comes to planning. If that freedom appeals to you, like it did for us, I would definitely give it a look. read more

Visited this winery yesterday with my family since we were looking for things to do while on holiday in Sea Ranch. It's about a 20 minute drive from Moonraker Rd to the winery, over windy mountain roads through a beautiful forest until you spot a vine-adorned hill. At the top of this hill we found a lovely outdoor picnic area and a tasting room. We loved all the wines, which tended to be dry and soft. The Zinfandel had a remarkable black pepper taste and a very pleasant balance in what is usually a very heavy varietal. The barbera rosé was rich and full bodied like a chardonnay. The cabernet blend was masterful--subtle, complex, everything you're missing in the trend of intense and overwhelming cabs right now. We signed up for the biannual wine club on the spot, so we'll get six bottles sent to us in spring and fall in addition to the box we took with us yesterday. The prices are $25-45 per bottle, but this is a quality of wine you will be hard pressed to find on most grocers' shelves. Their zeal for wine is obvious in their friendliness, service, and in each bottle. read more

We came here on a Saturday afternoon as a group of 6 while staying in Sea Ranch. Just before we arrived a large party of 9 also arrived, but the host did a good job of managing both of our groups (along with a few other couples that came later). We tasted 4 different wines, some of which we loved and others of which we were just ok on. The winery tasting area itself is pretty small and simple - not like the giant commercial wineries in Napa. Overall this is a fun activity to do while visiting Sea Ranch or the north Sonoma coast. read more

My partner and I loved working with Barbara and Aaron to plan our wedding their. While they do not use email, they are very kind, responsive, and helpful people. They very generously helped us with a task that they had never done before because they knew we needed it done! They were patient as we walked through various wedding reception layouts. Very nice respite after 4 year old son fell asleep in the car following tantrum because he was scolded for throwing rocks at tiny green frog. The grounds are pleasant and relaxing. The woman pouring the liquid was fun, far from shy and knowledgeable about the wines and area. Perfect. Once engaged, she was quite a hoot. We (daughter included) learned all about predators that attack her chickens. A plus that they sold crackers, cheese, etc. to keep kid happy and us from getting too sloshed. The wines were better than I expected. I particularly liked the Cab and Zin. It was a treat to be offered a chance to taste reds in two different glasses, very fun. Only bummer was that they were depleted of whites (sauvignon blanc and gewurztraminer) and it was a warm day. They did have rose. Wine prices are high, but not unreasonable for a small, independent winery. Better than paying less for some corporate crap. I don't know why I've never come here in my 15 previous visits to the area. This place is worthy of regular visits. read more
