My son was one of the youngest students then and was an energetic, active 6 year old who had a hard time sitting in one place even for 30 minutes (as most 6 year olds probably are!). But Mr Jesse was super patient throughout and taught him in such a way that my now 10 year old just loves going to his Jesse uncle to learn his lessons. As a parent, I am super happy with the progress he has made and the love he has for his musical instrument and his teacher. Mr Jesse is also very professional in communication, handling his make-up lessons and prompt in addressing any concerns you have. We had a Gibson ES-125T that had a really bad broken neck. My son had inherited it from his…read moregodfather so it held a lot of sentimental value. my husband and I decided to work with his girlfriend to sneak it out of his apartment and have it repaired as a Christmas surprise. After calling around, I was told to take it to C. B. Perkins and "if they can't fix it, nobody can." This place is amazing! In addition to knowing all there is about guitars and guitar repair, these guys have so much history to tell about the music scene in the Bay Area. They were very upfront about what the cost to repair it would be and whether or not they could even repair it in the first place. They explained that this would take a while to get fixed because of the work involved, but that didn't bother us because again this is a family heirloom and we really wanted it repaired. They did an incredible job. I think all in all it took about 2 to 3 months to repair it. My husband and son went to go pick it up and they were in the shop for probably three hours just talking about the guitar, its history, and music in general. I can't thank them enough for such great experience! If you're looking for a quick fix or don't want to spend a lot of money, this is not the shop for you. But if you are serious about music, serious about guitars and stringed instruments, you won't find a better shop to go to. We have a sitar that needs repair and I'm hoping that they will do work on it but if they don't, I know that they will know the right place to take it to.

It was an eye opening session for me to see Rudy feel at home with Piano and drums and his instinctive approach to music when Chris motivated him to join in to play the various instruments. For the whole session of half an hour Rudy was giggling, trying out every instrument given to him to try and participated wholly, but the drum set was what made the biggest impression on him. Chris could control his focus issues well and was able to bring him back to the music whenever he drifted away as he is certified in music therapy.
