They mentioned that they are closed normally on Sundays but they opened for school vacation...Yipee! Decor is classic Italian with a large bar and pizza oven looking right at you. We sat at the bar and ordered some drinks along with their wood fired garlic cheese bread. Kasey our bartender was extremely nice and conversational. She suggested a few of her faves! We also ordered the Polpette pizza xtra crispy. The restaurant was extremely crowded with families due to school vacation. You can tell its a popular neighborhood spot. The garlic cheese bread came out and it looked more like a mini pizza, but still delicious with the marinara sauce on the side. Afterwards, the Pizza came out and although not as crispy or well done as we would like, it was still good. We were full but had to look at the dessert menu because how could you not. Kasey recommended the Pistachio Risotto Cake and boy was it worth it. Actually to die for! Flavorful, soft and a delicious way to end a perfect meal. Occasionally I do, though - typically after a long work day or, or traveling, or some such. I'm still a bit picky, though: I know what I like. With that in mind . . . Twice during the past 6 weeks or so, I've ordered from Dalton HD Pizza - once picking up. Suffice to say I'll be back. The food, the service, and the friendly, dedicated staff are exemplary. Four things I liked: 1) independently owned and operated (my preference) 2) the chicken parm sammich. When it's late and I'm hungry, a hot chicken parm grinder has long been a favorite - and Dalton HD's is top-notch. Lots of tasty chicken, solid sauce and just enough melted cheese so fill a perfectly toasted roll I could only eat half in one sitting (itself a blessing because day-old, reheated chicken parm is the best chicken parm, sandwich or otherwise). Would order again. Will order again. 3) the pizza: At Dalton HD Pizza, the product - from a simple cheese to the party size - more than earns the place's name. Excellent pizza. When I'm feeling particularly salty, my favorite is a Large, with sausage and fresh garlic. I've ordered it twice, and it doesn't disappoint. 4) the service: the staff is friendly, the service and delivery is timely, and I'll gladly return. (Shout out to C., whose helpfulness and smile are second to none. :) ) On balance, Dalton HD Pizza was more than a pleasant surprise- it's a treat. They offer two pizza slices with toppings for $9 here and a $3 value menu for smaller ala carte items like 2 meatballs, side of pasta, or side salad with knots. I stopped by here after brief shopping for a break. I ordered side of spaghetti pasta ($3), 2 meatballs ($3), and two pigs in blanket (2 for $7). However, I was initially charged $9 for the spaghetti pasta & 2 meatballs which was served in the same bowl. However, I had to explain I only wanted the 2 meatballs and the pasta separately in a smaller cups so it would be $6 instead of $9. Another worker obliged and separated the meatballs and pasta with a slightly smaller portion of pasta for $3 less. $13.91 for the 4 items was the total with tax. The 2 meatballs were good sized with a soft texture in lots of tomato sauce. The spaghetti was soft due to sitting in the broiler tray and I mixed in the sauce from the meatballs. The pigs in blanket were grilled hot dogs wrapped and baked in a pastry dough, mustard and ketchup provided. If I am ever stopping in this food court, the Pizza Bar counter is the best bet for me.
