We stopped here on our way to Vermont ski and I will have to say it was a nice family oriented restaurant. Everyone was very nice very attentive very polite. The food was very good. Drinks were good. There is really not much to say except this pizza is terrible. Dry, thick crust. Not enough sauce, not enough cheese. The crust is more cardboard like than any Dominos Papa John's fast food pizza. It literally tasted like thick cardboard crust. And while I prefer a thinner, classic NY style pizza, I actually really like other Greek pizzas. Four Brothers Pizza chain, which is another upstate New York Greek pizza joint, is infinitely better with their moist, soft, buttery and delicious under crust and a generous amount of cheese and sauce on top. Jimmy D's tastes like a Four Brothers pizza if it was reheated in a dehydrator for 2 hours. read more

Really more a 3.5 star situation, but rounding up because the folks there were so gosh darn nice! There's not a lot of options in that vicinity, we figured they offered both diner fare AND pizza, so SOMETHING would be safe. The owner seated us, and because we had our almost 3 year old with us, offered us a table, booth, high chair, and booster chair. The waitress brought over crayons and kid placemat before anything else. They were so kind to ALL of our party, but especially my little guy. Anyway, we got subs and a wrap, boneless wings, and cheese cake. Portions were fine, food was fine - nothing unique on the menu and it wasn't spectacular or anything, but it was fast and edible and the waitress was refilling our drinks without us even noticing. The place is small inside, and dated, but cozy - reminded me of a diner from the days of my youth. There's a lunch counter! Obvious regulars! A guy that maybe works there but also maybe just hangs out? A very experienced waitress who doesn't REALLY need to write down your order but does! A very friendly owner! If we find ourselves in the vicinity again, we'll have to try the pizza. A pleasant surprise today. read more

A local diner with plenty of parking, good spacing of tables for social distancing and fairly clean bathroom. There was also sign at the door that masks are required and all the staffs were wearing a mask when we came in. We stumbled upon the place nearing the end of our 3 hour drive from NY to Jiminy Peak, looking for dining options, we pulled into their parking lot to check yelp. It was 2pm on a Sunday and looking through the window it looked empty so we decided to dine in. The diner was decently spacious though with old carpet smell. The service was friendly and efficient. We had egg salad sandwich which my wife enjoyed, chicken tender with fries that we salted generously and a reuben pastrami sandwich that was delicious with sauerkraut, russian dressing and swiss cheese. About a 15 min drive from Jiminy Peak, it was a dining option for us on the way there. read more

This beautiful place is held up by the amazing staff, who were so kind and friendly to me despite being a sweaty mess at the time. The service alone bumped them up a star. The food though had a bit to be desired. I have their slouvaki, which has subtle herbal flavors but no strong flavor to complement them. They got my food out quickly but I think I would have preferred to wait a bit longer and had more flavor in my chicken. The Greek salad that came with it was amazing though, such a good blend of string flavors. I'd happily visit the place again just for that salad and to support the kind people that work here. read more

I enjoyed an excellent breakfast. I had a blueberry cornbread French toast. Real fresh local blueberries, real maple syrup and fresh creamy butter. Bacon was excellent. Surprisingly good. I've passed by Jimmy D's many times on a trip between NYC and Manchester, VT. This time, I opted to pop in as the timing to eat was right. The service was excellent and attentive. I ordered a greek salad which was surprisingly good. The feta was crumbled over the salad rather than being served in chunks. The olives actually had pits! Good job. Dressing was on the side and the onions were not overwhelming. I like the pepperoncini on top - even though they always squirt and get all over me. My entree was the chicken souvlaki. The chicken was cooked well and not dry. The tzaziki was a little too yogurty. It needed more lemon, cucumber and dill and was too runny - needed to be thicker. The pita was very doughy, almost like it needed to be grilled more. Still, it was good, not as great as the salad. They have a great selection of burgers, pizza and pasta - it's not a full diner menu like you would expect. Still worth stopping in as the people were great, food was great and the prices were right. read more

This is a great place to stop along the way . Its an old school american diner. They advertise as Pizza Royale and Restaurant. Its predictable american diner menu and pizza family restaurant. It feels like 60's or 70's vintage. Including paper placemats with local ads. And candy counter at the register. Spotless and intact with out over doing it. We went to eat there, kids were starving it was 6:00 oclock on a Friday night. We had to wait close to half an hour, two out of three of us got our meals. Then another 20 minutes and our last meal arrived. Food was ok, not great, but kids were happy so we went back. On our second visit, there were five of us, me, kids and grandparents. This time another wait, of half another but restaurant was empty. Three of us got our order, not the grandparents. We asked about our order and were told the waiter forgot to put it in but would immediately. Another 25 minutes we were ready to leave and the food arrived, No apology. I will not return, food is mediocre and service is terrible. read more

We've been coming to Jimmy Ds for 15 years. It's part of our ski trip to Jiminey Peak. The owners and staff are all very friendly and accommodating. Very accommodating to special dietary needs/allergies. It's got that classic diner feel from "Every-town, USA." Made a substantial mistake on my order. No big deal so I called to fix. Then they blamed me for the mistake and didn't even offer to make the item that I ordered. So I reached out again and they apologized and offer to refund that item, which i accepted. Then they never refunded the 25 dollar item. The pizza here is thick, greasy, and full of toppings. I think it's delicious, but really, it's all a matter of taste. I would also say that it's the best option on the menu. Everything else has that fresh from the freezer kind of feel... They are open every day of the week except Tuesday. I'm not sure of the exact hours, but I know I've been there for breakfast and for dinner before. I don't recommend them as a breakfast place-- a friend of mine ordered a waffle that looked like it came directly from a Pillsbury box. They do have a full bar and a decent selection of grade B beers. For me, the pizza is really the saving grace of this place. Otherwise, I wouldn't have a reason to go there. read more

Stopped here on a recent road trip & was very pleasantly surprised. We stayed with the Greek/Middle Eastern fare & really enjoyed it. The Greek salad was very tasty, fresh greens, plenty of feta cheese & lots of vegetables. The Spanakopita was delicious & a bit salty (probably due to the feta) & the chicken sandwich on the pita bread was also very good.. Service was pleasant & very helpful. We were seated quickly and the server was friendly and attentive. The food was not consistent at all. The chicken wings were the fattiest I have ever had. It looked like I was leaving meat on the bones, but it was all fat and gristle. When I asked for ranch dressing instead of blue cheese, I was told they don't have ranch dressing. Not a big deal, but another straw on the camel's back. The Jimmy D's souvlaki was "ok" according to my wife. The pizza was pretty decent, although extremely greasy and the crust was a little on the tasteless side. The tables are ridiculously close to each other. Alright, local here. Mind you, I've traveled quite a bit and I grew up here. The food is pretty decent. It's a diner, so what more can you expect? Depending on who you get, the waitresses can either be amazing or fairly horrible. The place used to have a bunch of awesome waitresses, but they've left and moved on over time. This isn't really a town you stay in. It's kind of a town you pass through, so you can't blame them for leaving. The restaurant is run by a very nice, Greek family. That said, it really is a Greek restaurant and if you want the best food they have to offer, it's the Greek food. The Greek salad is very good. It's a bit soggy, but that's because of the oils and olives put into it. The cheese is my favorite part of that salad. Personally, I don't really order anything here except the pizza. We usually order the Royale. It's always the same every time. It's hearty, wholesome, and not very expensive. If you want a nicer, fancier restaurant, go to Mario's. This is a diner. Expect diner-quality and don't complain about it on Yelp if you don't get 5-star service or 5-star quality food. read more

We ordered pizza, which, from my extensive knowledge of the market frozen food section, was not freshly made. It came out of a box. Right down to the cardboard disc underneath. We make it a point to visit Jimmy D's at least once a month, if not more, for one major reason: The Greek Salad. They have a great greek salad, but the real star is the greek salad dressing. We will often pick some up to bring home. They also have a great Chicken Parmesan, which is fairly standard fare but is done very well. They also have a Chicken Parmesan casserole which is very good. They have a great list of nightly specials. If you can find the stuffed sole on the special list, I highly recommend it. The linguine with clam sauce is also excellent. The pizza is just okay. Not great, not bad, merely adequate. It's fairly reasonably priced, The steak was also pretty standard diner fare, but you don't go here for steak, you come for the greek, or italian dishes, which is what he specializes in. The owner and waitresses are very friendly and will make it a point to remember your name if you frequent his restaurant. The restaurant itself is neat and clean, with cool fresco's of a seaside Greek resort. There is a bar area as well as booths and tables. Minor problems aside, if you go to Jimmy D's and order the right foods, it's a great restaurant find in the middle of a very dry area for restaurants. The prices are reasonable and the food is good. We stopped here when we needed a place to eat while staying at a nearby campground. The menu was primarily limted to italian food, greek food and sandwiches, but the Chicken Parm that I ordered was delicious. My wife got the crab-stuffed tilapia on special and it was really good as well. The decor is nice, the walls are painted to look like a seashore view of the Mediterranean. The service was efficient but a little slow. I assume it was because they were so busy that night. Parking was very easy, they have a large parking lot in front of the restaurant. I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a decent meal on the road. It's obviously frequented by the locals and was pretty packed when we got in. A good restaurant for dinner. read more
