Me: I think I want a wedding dress that is versatile. Something I can use beyond our special day. Hubby, then fiancé (HTF): Good idea. Go to Anne Nama's. Me: Ummm I was thinking more like separates from Macy's...but twist my arm a teeny bit more:) Anne Namba is my favorite designer. Classy, local and extremely talented. HTF has blessed me with several pieces from her collection - and now I am going to see if she has a dress that will take me from wedding to other occasions. In a matter of 20 minutes I find THE outfit! A stunning bustier made from a cream colored obi and drizzled with teensy pearls and other delectable beads on the top and a simple a-line floor length organza skirt. Wow...Anne's design made me feel like Cinderella. But wait. Wasn't I supposed to find something versatile? No worries. Anne demonstrates how this one ensemble can carry me through the next two Tuxes and Tails events with a simple addition of (gulp) two more pieces. In the end we take all four pieces and HTF's wedding shirt. Expensive? No. These are investments ;). If you are looking for the perfect gown. If you are looking for elegance. If you want a perfect go-to outfit that is comfortable. If you need a classy gift. Go. To. Anne Namba's. With her wide array of separates, scarves, men's wear and formals you will find something that fits your need. Service: 5 Merchandise: 5 Studio: 5 Overall: 5

Not the one I picked for my wedding, but similar and just as adorbs ;) #love!!

There's a line of EuroAsian-inspired printed silk if you're not into vintage kimono or obi based clothes.

I stopped by Stüssy Honolulu while walking along Kalākaua Avenue, and it is easily one of the…read morestandout streetwear stores in the Waikiki area. The brand has a long history in street culture, and this location reflects that identity with a clean and minimalist retail space focused entirely on the clothing. The store layout is simple and well organized, which makes it easy to browse through the collections. Racks feature a mix of graphic tees, hoodies, hats, and other staple pieces that the brand is known for. The designs maintain the classic Stüssy style that blends surf, skate, and street culture influences. One thing that makes this location interesting is the connection between the brand and Hawaii's surf culture. Stüssy originally emerged from surf roots in California, and seeing the brand represented in a place like Waikiki feels very fitting. The shop tends to attract both visitors and locals who are interested in streetwear and limited releases. The environment inside is relaxed and focused more on the clothing itself rather than flashy retail design. What stood out to me most was how the store maintains the authenticity of the Stüssy brand while fitting naturally into the Waikiki shopping scene. Overall, Stüssy Honolulu is a great stop if you are into streetwear or want to check out one of the well-known global brands located along Kalākaua Avenue.

What a wonderful surprise Salvage Public turned out to be. We appreciate the unique, simple,…read morequality designs. We bought comfortable matching sweatshirts. We will wear them often. We will definitely come back on our next visit and purchase more items!

As many times…read moreas I have window shopped at Salvage Public at South Shore Market throughout the years, it wasn't until I saw Hōkūpa'a, Nāpali, and another staff (I hope you can forgive me for not asking for your name) at their pop-up location in Hilo. The Merrie Monarch vibes must have kicked in and I had to finally pop that cherry. I initially went with my hula family and used that time to soak everything in. The next day I went back alone to purchase a few items I couldn't stop thinking about. Both Nāpali and Hōkūpa'a hyped me up during my visit and all items I tried on was sold on the spot. Countless hugs and mahalo were exchanged during my encounter with them. Again, I had to go in a third time just to mahalo your (business) ʻohana during my trip to Hilo! Just about a week later I figured I would "window shop" again during my lunch break at South Shore Market and I was able to catch up with Hōkūpa'a. Then after some time of being educated about the items at the store I was sold again - resulting in me purchasing even more items than I did in Hilo! More hugs and mahalo were shared that day. I can't thank Nāpali a me Hōkūpa'a and the rest of the Salvage Public ʻohana enough for your continued legendary service every time I visit.
