Shopping in Ward Center in Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. This shopping complex will be gone soon. Many businesses have cleared out and Noa Noa is one of the last ones still open. I had passed by this batik shop many times in the past, but never went inside. Today, June 21, 2026, was their last day, so I walked in to look around. Note: they won't be receiving more inventory because of the tarrifs, one of the vendors retired, etc. Sally was an excellent sales associate. She knew the fabrics (cotton vs. linen vs. bamboo), the origins of the prints, the styles, etc. Sally briefly explained the intricate process of making batik fabric. Wow... she even showed me a pattern stamp and swatches. She really knew her stuff... because she's worked at Noa Noa for over 13 years! I got a couple of dresses because natural fibers - such as cotton - should be cooler to wear. (I'm perspiring more because it's summer now...) I'll try itvout and get more at their smaller Waikiki shop or their new shop which will be nearby. Yay!

I walked in having no idea where to begin because there's so many beautiful garments to look at. I didn't have a style or color preference, I just knew I wanted to buy something nice. Aya politely asked me a few questions to narrow down the search. She then pointed out some of the different styles in my size. Together, we pulled a few dresses off the rack and Aya led me to a fitting room. Excitedly, I had four lovely dresses to try on. As I was in the fitting room, Aya politely offered information about the different fabrics, the variety of styles and sizes, she even explained the best method for gentle washing. When I came out of the dressing room without "the" dress speaking to me, Aya pointed out another rack that I had not yet browsed. Then BOOM, there it was! The color! The size! The fabric! The style! Winner, winner, Aya helped this beginner :) After trying it on and walking around the store in it, it was done. Mission accomplished thanks to Aya! Love my pretty new dress, Mahalo Aya :)

The reason that I went into her boutique was because I needed some alterations done on two pieces that I wanted to wear for a special occasion during an upcoming Thanksgiving trip to the Mainland. Anne Namba's designs draws me in because I feel that I can "relate" to the styles. The way the garments are cut gives me a feeling of simple contemporary elegance. I'm not tall nor thin nor young in age but her styles can be tailored to fit (ALL women) so I've not felt intimidated into thinking that I should look like a model. Even the vintage fabrics are meticulously put together that you can accessorize to dress up or down. There's a line of EuroAsian-inspired printed silk if you're not into vintage kimono or obi based clothes. The clothing here can be custom designed or fitted for men and women. Before stepping foot into the boutique, I called and spoke to one of Anne's staff, Mary. I wanted to make sure that I could just drop by to get my silk duster fit and to replace the elastic in a pair of silk pants. Her voice effused friendliness and warmth over the phone. I brought in my pieces, she fit (measured) my garment, gave me an estimate for alteration and said their seamstresses would do their best to get the items done within 7 days. I asked her for home silk care and cleaning tips as I had a garment that had been badly "age or rust" spotted. While waiting for the alterations, I tried Mary's recommendations. Within minutes, my damaged garment was sparkling clean! Oh boy, I just had to tell Mary about the success of her tip! To my surprise, my alterations were completed within 4 days (including a weekend) so at first chance, I rushed back to the boutique. We chatted for a few minutes and I got a couple of more tips from her. My eyes danced with glee just looking around at all the new styles, fabrics and colors. I even zeroed in on an outfit that I'd love to have but, my retired person conscious got the better of me. I would encourage men and women of all ages to visit this boutique...you will be amazed by the quality, beauty and wearability of the garments. You'll support a local designer whose one-of-a-kind designs are classic and timeless. I felt the prices were a bit steep, but still reasonable and well within my budget. There was a line to the fitting room but all of the ladies working were very kind and friendly. They allowed me to start a pile as I wanted to try on several sizes of the playsuit to get the right fit. I showed my uncle David a photo of the storefront after my visit and apparently my aunt Laura's niece owns Púa Blooms. Hope we can meet another time, that drink was the best matcha I've ever had. Would love to visit all of the Mahina shops and other local clothing stores on my next vacation.

Something new to wear…read more.. Mahina has made its way to Ala Moana Center 3rd level between Crazy Shirts and Louis Vuitton and I just happen to have found this lovely boutique. Filled with a bit of everything to complete your ensemble the vibe here is pretty light and fresh though basically for the younger crowd I did find the accessories simply cute and just had to grab a few items. The boutique is a bit on the smaller side though very organized and displayed nicely so even with a few other shoppers in there we all were able to browse with ease and I did pick up a few items which were placed in mesh bags was super cute and very reusable for gifts or even to conveniently tote around is something that I really love. Like the quote on their little chalkboard sign "Life isn't perfect but your outfit can be ;)" and with Mahina it sure can be. Thank you!

Beautiful linen and silk shirts with a great profile and design. The shirts are carefully sewn with all of the print matching and French seams. Beautiful colors and combinations. They also offer women's dresses, tops and scarves. Right now they are located just outside of Bed, Bath and Beyond and will soon be opening a larger space near Paul Brown's in the same building. Be sure and stop by. I know this will be my go to place for my husband's shirts!

Very easy and smooth process! 2 weeks later, Jovelle contacted me that someone bought one of my rental dresses! They loved it so much they had to own it! Which was a huge compliment for me because my dress finally found a forever home :) she sent my commission through Venmo. I usually get the jumpsuits which are very versatile, they can be used as a off-the-shoulder jumpsuit or haram pants. they are comfortable and beautiful. I get many compliments.
