From size 10 to size 6 on a petite bride. The dress itself has elaborate details that needed meticulous adjusting. Anne made it work. :)

Very patient and dedicated! Anne worked on my James Clifford dress 6 months before my wedding date. Each month, she systematically focuses on one detail at a time. She understands what to work on first, and what to save for last in case my weight fluctuates. My dress has elaborate details from top to bottom, along with multiple fabric layers at the bottom. I'm a tiny bride (4'11 height, size 6) that needed to fit into this size 10 dress that I found at an excellent price. Anne's work is of top quality and working with her was a smooth process. Overall, the dress ended up fitting me like a glove, as if it was made for me. :)

I could not recommend Anne enough! She's patient, calm, and warm hearted - going to my dress fittings were almost therapeutic. She gave valuable feedback but never over-stepped, and had helpful opinions when I was deciding between jewelry and footwear options (I probably brought 20 pairs of earrings to try...). Even better, she's extremely affordable and clearly communicated itemized costs and any revisions throughout the process, which is something that other alterations services tried to hide. She's dedicated to her craft and I'm so fortunate to have been able to work with her. Thank you, Anne!

Dress fit like a glove :)

I can't believe I haven't written a review for Anne yet! She is the only seamstress I would have trusted with my wedding dress! A couple years ago I had a baggy (too big) lime green shantung silk mermaid bridesmaid dress (totally going to wear it again) that obviously needed some fitting. :) I found Anne through a friend whose wedding dress she basically re-made. It was a size 12 and my friend wears a size 0 (she got it at one of those name brand discount stores where they only have one of each dress). Well at the wedding, the dress was gorgeous and looked like it was made for her (because it basically was). In any case, another of my fellow bridesmaids and I decided to contact Anne for our green mermaid dresses. We got appointments no problem, and Anne took in and hemmed and tucked until the dress fit me perfectly. She even hid a little pop out button in a tiny pocket along the back seam of the skirt so I could bustle up the back so I didn't trip on it on the dance floor (did I mention the lime green, shantung silk, mermaid gown also had a train? Totally going to wear it again). She did all this while working with me to keep the cost down. She is amazing! So fast forward to this year, I just found my wedding dress and I wouldn't dream of taking it to anyone but Anne. I liked the dress before it fit well, but as the weeks and fittings went by I could see just how well my dress was going to fit and now I am sooo excited to wear it! She did such a good job taking in the bust so that it fit just right. My MOH (and incidentally the other friend who took her lime green, shantung silk, mermaid bridesmaid dress to Anne, we are totally going to wear those again) came with me to a fitting and Anne showed her exactly how to do up the ties in the back of the dress. She also prints out instructions just in case you forget and need a refresher. On top of all that, Anne is a really nice person and fun to talk with during the fitting. And, we started talking about veils so she showed me a whole bunch of different types and lengths and edge finishes and ended up making mine with the perfect finish so that it looks like it was made for my dress. Anne also has a really cute little grand daughter who thinks that her grandma makes and sews dresses for princesses, and a really cool cat (don't worry the cat doesn't try on any of the dresses). Everything was beautifully pressed and steamed and ready to go at my final appointment and I couldn't be happier with the whole experience, including the price of all the hemming and fitting + veil (definitely on the lower side of what you can expect to pay for alterations, I am sure Anne could charge a lot more). Anne is the best!!

My dress was not an easy one to alter but Anne did a great job! She also did the veil piece.

Its been 2 years since I got married and I am finally writing a review. Sorry it took so long. I have actually gone to Anne for 2 different dresses. The first was my wedding dress. I was skeptical about anyone adjusting my dress because it was unconventional with lots of beading, sequins, and full of all kinds of crazy mixed material. Anne was recommended by a friend so I went with her and luckily she was available. Also, I live close by which was a major plus and convenience. It took maybe 4 or 5 fittings, 1 including a time she let me come over just to try on my possible wedding bras. I really appreciated that. Sometimes it's hard to explain to someone how you want more cleavage or you want the butt of your dress to be tighter, but I felt so comfortable with her. She was so understanding with anything I wanted to change and gave me her honest opinion which was helpful. I couldn't have rocked that wedding dress if it wasn't for her. AND she made my veil!! She is awesome! I also went to her to hem the inner layer of a laced dress that I chose as my bridesmaids dress in a friend's wedding. I wanted more lace to show at the bottom of the dress and she took care of that hem with no problem. I had to dye the dress, and for some stupid reason, I did that before I got it altered. So after getting the top of the dress reshaped from a covered chest to a V-neck I had to find matching fabric or ribbon to go around the hem like the arm holes had. What a pain in the butt process that was. But Anne helped me through that by supplying fabrics to try dying and eventually I got the right color and she fixed it all up for me. Seems like that might have been an annoying project to handle but she was so nice about it and helped me in any way she could. I highly recommend Anne! Plus she operates from her house and it has a mesmerizing view that will calm any crazy bride. One more plus was that it didn't cost an arm and a leg like everything else for my wedding.

The dress was hemmed perfectly, with the front, just an inch above the floor. The back was taken in to give me some shape.

I had contacted Anne exactly 12 weeks before my San Francisco City Hall wedding. I had found my BHLDN Francine gown online so I was unable to try it on beforehand. Once the gown arrived, it was extremely LONG and loose. I thought there was no way to alter the dress -- until Anne got her hands on it. After the first consultation, we had a laundry list of things to change. Hemming was the biggest issue. To add another level of complication, my dress was made of lace. Anne meticulously removed each piece and sewed it on again by-hand. 11 weeks later, my dress was absolutely transformed. She went above and beyond what we had discussed after the initial consultation and didn't even charge me extra. To top it all off - she was extremely responsive by email. I would absolutely recommend her to future brides. PS. The view from her studio is beyond gorgeous! Definitely hard to beat.

Anne did the alterations for my wedding dress. You can read all about the incredible job she did in my first review below. What's even more impressive than the alterations was how Anne transformed my wedding gown into a cute and sassy bubble dress. Mind you, the dress had boning in the bodice, ruching everywhere and quite the petticoat. It was quite the transformation - a clear demonstration of her skill! I've gotten so many compliments on both verison 1 and version 2 of the dress. I'm glad I went to Anne when I decided on restyling. Once again, Anne was such a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend Anne for your dress and alteration needs.

I was really excited to find Anne. I bought a wedding dress that I absolutely loved, except it was backless....and I don't have the kind of back that could pull that off. Since Anne makes her own dresses from scratch, I was happy to find her to make me a back for the dress. Overall my experience with her was very positive. She's really kind and definitely reasonably priced. And her work is stunning. She matched the fabric of my dress so well, and she did a practice run with cheaper fabric before making the real thing to make sure I liked it. She's incredibly talented and has a great vision for what will work for different body types. My only issue with her was with scheduling. I have a feeling she's become really popular and busy and hasn't figured out how to schedule things correctly. There were twice when she cancelled on me -- very last minute -- because she had a dress she had to finish up for a wedding that was coming up soon. Another 2 times, I went there and she'd literally done nothing since our last meeting. She certainly didn't charge me for all of her time, which I appreciate, but I felt like I wasted a lot of time (either going to her for basically no reason when she hadn't done anything, or else having to rearrange my schedule last minute). Overall I would recommend Anne because her prices and quality of work are both fantastic. I would make sure that you're really clear with her about scheduling, but otherwise she is great.

Lace crop top paired with the bottom of a ballet dress. Thanks Anne!

Anne is seriously the sweetest most talented seamstress. You are lucky if you're able to have her alter your wedding or bridesmaid dress. I had a difficult time finding a dress for my Yosemite elopement and so I wanted to pair a lace top with the bottom of a ballet dress I bought. She made that happen! She essentially made me a whole new dress and it turned out perfect. She also altered my reception dress (we took it in 1-2 sizes) and that came out perfect as well. Thank you, Anne!

Awesome job on the dress. Fit like a glove! Photo by White Daisy Photography

Someone had referred Anne and I definitely take referrals close to heart as finding a good seamstress is hard to do. She gets booked up very quickly, so I was hoping to be one of the lucky brides to be fit into her schedule! Luckily, I had contacted her in October for my September wedding so I had plenty of time. My wedding dress needed to be taken in, but the fabric ended up being trickier to work with than I had thought. She gives you an estimate of the work ahead of time and charges one flat rate. The number of fittings turned out to be around 6 because she was such a perfectionist picking up things at each fitting that I wouldn't have otherwise noticed. During my first initial fittings, she spent a great deal of time at the bottom of my dress marking and pinning things up. Then when I came back, she'd notice that one side was not even and wanted it perfect so she'd go back to fix it instead of saying "meh good enough". When we tried on my heavy beaded belt on, she noticed that it was sagging a bit due to the weight and she told me it'd be a good idea to sew it onto the dress. When I came back to try it on, she sewed it less than 0.5 inches off center and wanted to redo it. It was a very tiny detail that she picked up on. She made the bustling on my dress super secure and sewed on buttons hidden underneath my dress. She sewed a total of 9 loops on my dress for 7 buttons so in case one of them broke, it wouldn't be that big of a deal. The bustling lasted the entire duration of the wedding and not a single one broke! I have heard many stories of seamstresses only sewing on one loop, that would break almost immediately because they are so delicate. Anne is a super sweet lady, very professional, and does a fantastic job. My dress fit perfectly on my big day and I couldn't have been happier with the results. For the amount of work she did on my dress, she was really affordable too!

The dress - fit like a glove!

They're all saying the same thing about Maria being disorganized and unreliable, which was exactly my experience. And based on reading the negative feedback, I noticed this lady tends to deflect blame. Never her fault. Always something else. I brought in two pairs of jeans for hemming and a wool coat that needed a lining added. Price was affordable. She gave me a week timeline to pick up. I originally planned to pick everything up on Saturday, but I called the next day (Sunday) and asked if I could pick up a day early on Friday instead. She said yes. Thursday came and I called them just to remind them as I've had experiences elsewhere in the past where things got forgotten and I didn't want to make a 25 min drive and finding out my stuff isn't ready. Lo and behold, when I called to remind her I'll be picking up the following day, she said Saturday so I reminded her I called her last Sunday to change to friday. She said okay, she's not busy so she can work on it. I showed up Friday at around 11. My stuff wasn't done. Her employees were working on it. At first she mentioned pick up was supposed to be Saturday. I repeated I've made phone calls prior to change to Friday and she said yes. Then she said I came too early. Say what? We never confirmed on a pickup time. Then she asked me to wait additional 40 minutes. And she argued with me, giving me an attitude. I let her know she was unprofessional and disorganized and this was before I read all the negative reviews. It frustrated me because she had the whole week to work on them and she didn't. Will not be taking my business here again. I do not recommend her business.

The one thing I did ask for (tightened straps), she didn't recommend because she thought it would cut into me when I moved--I was constantly pulling them up on my wedding day. One thing really bothered me. When I booked, she stated there would be 2-3 fittings. However; when I asked when I asked when my 2nd fitting would be she said she was fully booked. Like I said earlier, she has a limited scheduled. I was really nervous, but I was able to book at G&G instead of at her house so I was able to get my second fitting. It food well enough that I didn't ask for any adjustments because I was already frustrated with the situation. The hemming and bustle she did were okay. The extra breast cups she put in were loose and could have been done better. I think Nadia was a skilled seamstress but I would choose someone else if I could do it all again. I had four dresses that needed alterations for several upcoming weddings and initially sent Tina photos of all of them. Rather than accepting every project, she carefully evaluated each dress and agreed to work on only two. She explained that while the other two dresses could technically be altered, the fabric and fit would make it difficult to achieve a result that met her quality standards. I greatly appreciated her honesty and professionalism. Many businesses would have accepted all four dresses, but Tina was focused on delivering work she could confidently stand behind. Her transparency and commitment to quality immediately gave me confidence in her expertise. During my first visit to Tina, I brought both my dresses to try on to assess the alterations that I needed done (mostly hemming). She provided a quote at that time, and stated that payment could be made at pick-up. I found her pricing to be very reasonable given the complexity of the dresses (material and multiple layers). The two dresses she altered turned out beautifully. The craftsmanship was excellent, and the fit was exactly what I wanted. The turnaround time was about two weeks from drop-off to pickup, which I found very reasonable (especially since I had told Tina there was no rush). She clearly takes pride in her work and pays close attention to the details that make a difference. One thing to note is that English is her second language and Mandarin is her first, so there can be a bit of a language barrier. If you speak Mandarin, communication will likely be even smoother. That said, I found Tina to be thoughtful, professional, and genuinely committed to achieving the best possible result for her clients. I would definitely return for future alterations and would highly recommend Tina's Alterations to anyone looking for quality workmanship and honest, trustworthy service.
