I've been searching for a reliable tailor in the San Francisco area, and Tina's Alterations was exactly what I was looking for. I had four dresses that needed alterations for several upcoming weddings and initially sent Tina photos of all of them. Rather than accepting every project, she carefully evaluated each dress and agreed to work on only two. She explained that while the other two dresses could technically be altered, the fabric and fit would make it difficult to achieve a result that met her quality standards. I greatly appreciated her honesty and professionalism. Many businesses would have accepted all four dresses, but Tina was focused on delivering work she could confidently stand behind. Her transparency and commitment to quality immediately gave me confidence in her expertise. During my first visit to Tina, I brought both my dresses to try on to assess the alterations that I needed done (mostly hemming). She provided a quote at that time, and stated that payment could be made at pick-up. I found her pricing to be very reasonable given the complexity of the dresses (material and multiple layers). The two dresses she altered turned out beautifully. The craftsmanship was excellent, and the fit was exactly what I wanted. The turnaround time was about two weeks from drop-off to pickup, which I found very reasonable (especially since I had told Tina there was no rush). She clearly takes pride in her work and pays close attention to the details that make a difference. One thing to note is that English is her second language and Mandarin is her first, so there can be a bit of a language barrier. If you speak Mandarin, communication will likely be even smoother. That said, I found Tina to be thoughtful, professional, and genuinely committed to achieving the best possible result for her clients. Brides Beware: I am going to make this review as kind as I can...but for brides who need to get dresses altered I do not recommend coming to Tina's. Please go somewhere else. I am also writing this knowing there will be a reply blaming me somehow, and I truly just want to help another person who has never been to tailor before. I came to Tina's looking to hem my dress, adjust the waist, and adjust the top of the dress. It seemed like a complicated series of alterations so the price of 500$ seemed justified - especially if Tina was the expert. I read reviews and pictures looked fantastic. I am a bride on a budget for a small backyard wedding. When I came to pickup my dress I tried it on and the bustle looked great. The waist seemed perfect and while the top felt weird I blamed my undergarments. I should have brought someone with me. People also tell you to not freak out if the dress fits a little different compared to when it was clipped at the bridal store, so I paid in full. After trying it on in my room again days later...something did not feel right and I decided to get a second opinion from a bridal salon. After their head seamstress looked at the dress on me she recommended I ask for a refund. She was shocked and claimed it was unacceptable alterations. The hem IS COMPLETELY uneven. I did not notice but one side is higher while the other touches the ground. Not only this but the top needs to be redone. My dress is going to be extremely difficult to fix, and overall I will be paying more than the price of the dress just to make it not look embarrassing. I am a non-confrontational person and I am not asking for a refund; but I am only writing this so that if you are like me and on a budget trying to make your life easier, just suck it up and go to a boutique. Bridalzilla is a term everyone wants to avoid but I wish I followed my gut. If your alteration is complicated go somewhere else. Looking back there were several things that should have made me leave: 1. She is working from her home so it can be awkward. 2. I was not correctly measured 3. Pins at the hem did not go around the entire dress. 4. Several people showed up at the time I was told to arrive. Things were awkward and I felt rushed read more

Tina was great to work with! She altered both my wedding dress and my second dress, and I felt like she did a really good job with both. My dress wasn't overly complicated (no lace, slim-fitting) but I appreciated that she was honest about what could be altered and what couldn't. Her prices also felt very fair, especially compared to other seamstresses who work on bridal clothing. Turnaround time was quick too, usually about 1-2 weeks each time. Excellent job! Tina did alterations for my dress including a bustle, fixing the straps and also adjusting some buttons. It was a fix that made my dress fit so well! She did the fixes fast and communicated well via text. She is kind and professional. She was helpful and explained what needed to be done. Other alteration places has wanted to bring my straps up and then also make it bigger but that ultimately wasn't needed! Tina gave her input and noted what she recommended and the dress fit fine with her adjustments. I highly recommend! She says some of her prices start at $150 usually but you can ask for a quote. I love Tina! I'm so glad I found her through Yelp. Tina is the sweetest. I first used her services to hem a bridesmaids dress that had 2 layers and she quickly finished it in less than 3 days. I then asked her if she happens to do wedding dresses and she told me she does! My dress was a crepe wedding dress which needed hemming and a bustle added. Tina was kind enough to also pinch the bra line for me and tighten the sides of my hips to help with the figure even though I did not ask her to (but she knew it would make the dress look and feel more comfortable). Originally I did not specify what bustle I wanted, so she only did a one hook bustle but in the end I asked if she could do a french style and she ended up keeping the dress to re-do the bustle to the way I wanted it. I'm so happy with the results that I've referred my other friend to her! Tina is available through text messages and is very kind. We hemmed and took in both of our dresses, each with beading work and multiple layers. Tina did an excellent job tailoring my maid of honor dress for a wedding. I found Tina through Yelp and messaged her through the app to get a quote on the alterations I needed for my dress. She responded very promptly and quoted me $120 for the hem (3 layers) and $40 to take in the top portion around the bust and the neck. When I went in person for the fitting, she quoted me the same price. I really appreciated that she explained to me the work that needed to be done and where she would be putting the additional darts. I found Tina earlier this year when I wanted to close a slit I had on my graduation dress. When I picked up my dress from her, I couldn't even tell where the original slit was. Her work is so good! Recently, I came back to get my bridesmaid dress hemmed and it was perfect. A few days later I noticed a stain and didn't know where it came from. Tina did a fantastic job hemming my bridesmaid dress before my friend's wedding. Note that she charges per layer, so hemming my three-layer dress amounted to around $120. Turnaround time was very reasonable (~1 week), and she made sure the length was perfect before letting me leave. I would happily come back for future hemming/alterations! Tina helped me make several modifications to my wedding dress in a super short amount of time. I only had two weeks to get some alterations done and Tina made sure there was time to make iterations if necessary. She helped me shorten the straps and remove some tulle at the back of my dress as I thought it was too messy. I couldn't decide what to do with the back so I went with her suggestion of shortening the tulle first and if it's still too messy, she can remove a layer of tulle later. This ended up not being necessary. After trying my dress on after the first set of alterations, I was so happy with it! I highly recommend Tina to any bride looking for a exceptional wedding dress tailor! She was incredibly professional, responsive, and sweet. She kept us on schedule and graciously corrected for my weight loss from visit to visit (3 in total) without ever making the process stressful. I came to Tina feeling worried; my strapless wedding dress just didn't make me feel the way it did in the bridal store (when it was clipped, of course). I felt unsupported, unflattered, and weighed down, but as someone unfamiliar with the world of alterations I struggled to articulate exactly why or what I wanted done. Tina immediately understood and was able to translate my vague concerns into solutions. She worked around boning to take the dress in perfectly, removed layers upon layers of (surprisingly heavy) tulle, and made sure to bug me to bring my actual wedding shoes in so she could hem exactly. In the end I felt exactly how I did in the bridal store: fully supported, secure, and honestly just snatched in the best way possible. Tina is a very nice lady. She is Not a tailor & I was very disappointed in the job she did. I had a brocade jacket that needed tailoring. She wanted to charge me $50 for hemming sleeves! The drycleaners can do that for $20. She explained she took a lot of care doing the sleeves--but that's not what I wanted. Maybe it was the language barrier, I don't know. She ended up accepting the $20 I offered her. The jacket looks terrible--it still doesn't fit, looks too big, & I didn't appreciate her trying to convince me how great it looked. That was just silly. I have nothing but praise for Tina's Alterations after my first experience working with her. She was very quick and responsive via yelp and I was able to schedule an appointment on the same day to get my suit pants tailored. When I visited her, she had me try on the pants and was able to help me figure out exactly how I wanted them. She's located in a neighborhood so there were plenty of street parking spots which I went for drop off and pick up. My biggest shock was how fast she works, she said she was able to give the finished pants the NEXT DAY !!! My schedule was a bit hectic so I ended up picking them up in 3 days and she was very flexible with that as well which I appreciated.
