Excellent pie! Love the family vibe right when you walk in. Fantastic milkshakes. You can tell everything is made fresh.

Chicken pot pie - we each got a star on our slice!

I genuinely don't understand what's going on at Playa Bowls…read more The bowls? Great. Service? Totally fine. The space? Adorable--full beach bungalow fantasy. You walk in expecting a little reggae, maybe some surf rock, something that says "you're on vacation." Instead... absolute dead silence. Like a library where everyone accidentally ordered açaí. Why am I whispering to my girlfriend at noon over fruit? Why does it feel like I'm about to get shushed by a librarian? After 22 years in hospitality, I can tell you: turning the music off is the universal signal for "please leave." Even blackout drunk people clock it immediately. So what is the strategy here? Is this some advanced "turn and burn" technique where we emotionally nudge people out with awkward silence? Because congrats, it works. I've never wanted to finish a perfectly good bowl faster in my life. The wild part is you clearly care about every other detail. You built the whole vibe... and then forgot the one thing that makes humans act normal in a room. I'm not asking for a DJ set. Just anything. A ukulele. A Spotify playlist. A dude humming in the back. Give me something so I don't feel like I'm eating in a meditation chamber where talking is discouraged. Great spot. Seriously. Just... please, for the love of god, press play.

There is some seating inside if you'd like to sit and eat. I opt for the whateverbowl so that i can build exactly what I want. I do miss the days when Everbowl used to have unlimited toppings, that was the best part of coming here but I can understand why those days are long gone. I've always really liked their Pitaya. I tried a split with the Blue Majic base and I didn't love the consistency / flavor as much. I wanted the base to be just a tad bit thicker. Toppings were pretty fresh and I appreciate that they chop them up so you don't have giant fruit chunks falling overboard. Overall, I was satisfied with this bowl. It did what it needed to do. The pricing is notably better here than competitors in the area. It seems as though every other spot is running you close to $20 a bowl now which is crazy. This was about $13. The lady working was sweet. I feel as though customer service is kind of a lost art in the current world but she was at least quick to correct my bowl when I was missing an added topping and was fairly personable. Overall, we were happy.

I did layers of açai, Pitaya, blue majik, & chia pudding. Did my own toppings as well. All very delightful, but the açaí & blue majic reminded me too much of ice cream. overall sweeter than what I'm used to with a smoothie bowl. And that goes the same for my smoothie, which had the Pitaya base . I reviewed the nutritional value for the bases out of curiosity and found that sugar is the second ingredient for most of them Which explains why I found all of it too sweet for my preference. And honestly in just reviewing the nutritional value, you might as well call these desserts. Delicious no doubt about that!

It took a little longer than expected for anyone to greet us--likely because the staff seemed short-handed and were juggling a steady line of customers. We tried the ginger snap bites from the display case on the counter. I'm not sure we knew what we were getting because the labeling wasn't very clear. The texture was unexpectedly mushy and not very ginger flavored so we wondered if we were given the snickerdoodle balls instead as the labels were on top of each other. The Med Salad had good flavors overall but the croutons were so hard they were almost inedible and there was an overwhelming amount of anise in it which caught me off guard. The bone broth was the biggest disappointment; it lacked depth and tasted more like an old bouillon cube than a fresh and rich broth. On a positive note, my friend's chopped peanut salad looked fresh and well-composed, so there are definitely bright spots on the menu. In the end, it wasn't a terrible experience--just not one that stood out in the way we hoped. With some tweaks in execution and clearer communication on menu items, it could easily be much better. Will plan to try a smoothy or avocado toast next time.

I thought it…read morewould be an attractively designed hipster coffeehouse with uninspired food offered as an afterthought. I was pleased to be wrong!! The ambiance was indeed attractively designed, bright and open, not too loud even though we sat ourselves near the kitchen. We ordered from menus with our smart phones, and our drinks and food arrived promptly. I ordered the Shakshuka, a northern African dish of stewed tomatoes with feta cheese and spices served with warm crusty garlic bread. A perfectly poached egg was nestled on top, and the dish was accompanied by a side salad of baby lettuces dressed very sparingly in oil and vinegar. Now, ordinarily, for me more is more when it comes to condiments. But the way the salad was dressed allowed the flavors of the lettuces to come through, and its blend of tart and slightly bitter was the perfect foil to the shakshuka, which was hearty, delicious, and spicy indeed! The stew was a generous portion that could be easily shared if you ordered an extra side of garlic bread, which I did. I was lucky to be able to request it from an employee who came around to ask how our meal was. The overall experience was memorable in the best way. I'm already craving the Shakshuka!

Not the icky too sweet, too sour that I taste in others. The hummus also tasted very freshly made and was good, but they did not put anywhere near enough on the board. The ratio was so bad, it was like 1/4 cup of hummus and 8 triangles of pita, not to mention if you were to dip anything other than the pita in the hummus. It really needed like 3 to 4 times the amount of hummus I got. Then, they're weren't any vegetables to dip other than pickled beets. Something like carrots, celery, radish, cucumber, tomato... anything! The olives are a nice side bite, I love olives, but you need more veggies. The price for that was way overpriced and that was their "happy hour" deal, too. Ok, come on now! They also have some cocktails and wine for $5 - 6 for HH so, that is a good deal -- daily 3-5pm. The patio outside is pretty large. But, ps you not supposed to leave with your drink whether inside or outside. Terminal bar you can wander more on the inside.
