But we were here for some Vietnamese coffee and dessert after dim sum next door. The Vietnamese coffee was delicious and she can make it hot or iced. We tried 4 different desserts - lychee mousse, passion fruit mousse, basque cheesecake and tiramisu. The basque cheesecake I had was so good! The lychee was a little lacking in flavor, the passion fruit was delicious and so was the tiramisu. Everything was not too sweet and tasted fresh! The coffee had milk but it didn't upset my lactose sensitive tummy. Definitely come check out their desserts! All so tasty!

GetRight's Bakery doesn't need more hype, but it absolutely lives up to it…read more My girlfriend and I stopped in on a whim this past weekend while checking out a few spots in the area. I had it saved but couldn't quite remember why...until we turned the corner and saw a line out the door around noon on a Sunday. Normally that might be a dealbreaker, but once we saw the food coming out, we were all in, it looked way too good to pass up. The menu is stacked: everything from sweet pastries to savory sandwiches and even pizzas on what looked like fresh, fluffy focaccia. I went with the prosciutto sandwich (prosciutto, cheese, pesto on focaccia), and it was incredible--simple, fresh, and packed with flavor. My girlfriend had the ham sandwich on a baguette, which was just as good. We were also tempted by the turkey and some seasonal options, so we'll definitely be back to try more. We couldn't leave without grabbing a couple pastries. The almond croissant was a hit (my girlfriend saved it for the next morning and loved it), and the standout for me was the cinnamon white chocolate cookie--kind of like a snickerdoodle but with white chocolate chips. Easily a top tier cookie. Between the quality, variety, and how clearly everything is made with care, this place jumped straight to the top of my list. Worth the wait, worth the hype, and absolutely worth a return trip.

I sure was one of them today as when I stepped in it was past 2pm. What I had in mind was (of course) all gone which forced me to go some alternative option. I hence ended up with one of the vanilla custard buns and the gouda baguettes. Did I regret? Nope, it is quite the opposite of it. The vanilla custard bun was simply the right size for me (I not too long ago had just had my late breakfast so I was still quite full from it.) Perfectly brown on some of the custard on top. This Portuguese style dessert is a staple at any bakery or dessert shop. It's moist and yet the flaky out layers made the perfect sound as I bit into it. As of this writing, I haven't had the baguette yet but I can only imagine how delicious it would be (as the kind lady upfront was telling other customer that.) For a great business like GetRight's, I do the drive to get to it from my southeast Denver home. It's my utmost duty to support them.

We finally decided to check out the shopping and dining district. Rheinlander was our final (and best!) stop. The bakery dates back to 1963 and is now on the third generation of ownership. The quality is certainly being maintained at a high level. This is a traditional, German bakery with a huge variety of authentic European cakes, cupcakes, sweet and savory pastries, pies, cookies, coffee cakes, and the only reason I think a German bakery should exist--strudel! Strudels are available whole, half, or by the slice. The usual flavors are apple, cherry, blueberry cream cheese, cherry cream cheese, and Boston cream. We bought slices of the apple, cherry, and blueberry cream cheese. These were perfection and absolutely delightful. I was totally focused on the strudel case (yes, there's a lot of strudel on offer), but I believe there are eight huge cases of treats, each one looking more enticing than the next. Quite a few gluten-free, sugar-free, and dairy-free options are available, so if that's what you need, this is the place for you. The bakery was moderately busy during our visit. There was plenty of staff and they were all friendly, helpful, and very efficient, so purchases moved swiftly. Lots of coffee and drink options are available. There's nice outside seating if you can't wait to take your goodies home. It's a long drive for us, but we were really impressed and we'll find a reason to visit Arvada so we can stop back soon. Yum.

Parking was limited, and it is way awkward to get in and out with a car. We got the "fiona" (a mango-kiwi dessert), a "scarlett" (raspberry chocolate dessert), berry-licious croissant tart, and a lemon madeleine. The "fiona" was perfectly balanced with a solid mango and kiwi flavor coming through. It had creamy component, a cake component, and a fruit component with a glaze. Not too sweet, but certainly sweet enough to satisfy a sweet tooth craving. The "scarlett" was intensely raspberry in the mousse component. The raspberry jam on top brought the sweetness to temper the tartness of the mousse, and the chocolate cake and chocolate cookie components also balanced out the dessert with a nice natural bittersweet from the cocoa component. The fruit croissant tart had nice fruit on it, and the cream component reads like a yogurt. The croissant part itself was very tasty and makes me excited to try their original butter croissant next time. And finally, the Madeleine was very impressive. I am not a fan of frosting-like stuff on Madeleines, but this worked so well because it was not too sweet. Very balanced flavors, yet again, with some of that natural bitterness again that contrasts so excellently with the flavors. If I could only use key words to describe their desserts, it would be: beautiful, balanced, complex, and natural. I won't be able to come here often due to how far away I live from here, but I know that I will be back.

My son had seen this place on a recent visit to the area and wanted to try it. Since I was in town,…read morehe picked me up at my hotel and we drove over to check it out one Friday morning. Note that the sign is on the outside of the building, and if you have online orders, you can (and should!) use the ourside pick-up window. If you're walking up, though, you need to enter the Edgewater Public Market (tip: the door to the left is the closest to the bakery if you're standing in front of the pick-up window and realize that you need to go inside) All of the pastries and breads looked very good, but both of us decided on a cinnamon roll. We both enjoyed the rolls at a table in the market across from the bakery. It is a very light cinnamon roll (think of laminated croissant-like dough) with just enough cinnamon and frosting. If you want a more "bread" cinnamon roll like at the famous chain shops, these are not the same. I'd imagine that these have half the calories as well (at least, I am telling myself that!) Frankly, I expect I would have been happy with anything, including the pastry with pickle slices on it. I hadn't had coffee yet, so I was not in a place to remember to take a picture (sorry!)... but it looked really nice and if the cinnamon roll wasn't practically YELLING my name, my natural inclination would have been to get the "weirdest thing" on the menu (according to my family's years of data). It is called "the pretty pickle" : house made pickle, focaccia crumbs, paprika crema and pickled shallots on puff dough. If you look for it on Instagram, I am sure you'll find a picture. Along those lines, I ordered an Astro Fuel Latte. The sign was hand written, so I may have missed a few ingredients, but this is what I remember: espresso with with condensed milk and a touch of black pepper. It was very sweet and creamy with a little bite of pepper on the back end. Think Vietnamese coffee with a little kick.

Located at the Edgewater Public Market, Black Box is a bakery and coffee shop counter that crafts some of the most sought after pastries in the metro area. My advice? Get there early to avoid disappointment! I was here yesterday, a Monday around 11am. There were only two people ahead of me. They have a nice display of pastries to gaze upon while you wait. Cue the flavor jets! I go to a lot of coffee shops and order a lot of ham and cheese croissants. There's is a pretzel croissant and it looked delicious! The woman in front of me ended up ordering the last one...which was a dagger to my bleeding heart. I'm more of a savory person than sweet, so I had to adjust in real time. I landed on the carrot cake croissant. Was it what I wanted? No. Was it yummy? Absolutely! Creamy, flaky, nutty, it was really tasty. If you're anywhere in the area, Edgewater Public Market is a must visit. Black Box is one of the standout businesses inside. And when I said viral at the beginning of this review, I mean it! Weekends are SLAMMED and lines are LONG. So, know what you want, and be prepared to wait for high quality pastries.
