10/18/15 - The most beautiful afternoon spent at Combate Beach. Annie's is famous here! Right on top of the beach with a beautiful patio and the most amazing view. Great service and fresh seafood. We ordered sangrias, empanadillas de carrucho (conch) and empanadillas de shrimp. We sat on the deck, where we saw a huge iguana de palo. We also ordered pieces of fried white fish. Annie's Place Restaurant in Boquerón ended our night with a nightmare experience for what should have been a family dinner. It took over 2 hours to receive our food and the wait staff was beyond rude. There were 13 people in our party and when our food finally arrived it took over 30 minutes for everyone at the table to get their meal. No apologies were offered and we were treated beyond rudely when asking about the food and delays. The rice was extremely undercooked, the food was bland, the mofongo was hard and the fettuccine was hard. By the time we received the food half of our party was no longer able to eat. We had to ask for the bill several times before finally receiving a $415. We paid $415 for meals that we couldn't eat, for the worst service I have ever experienced and to leave with hungry children. All the wait staff except one waitress participated in yelling at our entire party without regard for the children in our party. That waitress was kind enough to take our payment so we could finally leave after being berated by all of her coworkers. One waitress in particular went out side to take pictures of our license plates and threatened us. We called the police but after over an hour of waiting they never arrived. So we finally left, but we want to ensure that everyone knows the manner in which we were treated in a "highly rated" establishment.I am shocked and disgusted at the terrible service and the abusive behavior of the wait staff. from the moment i got to annies boutique rooms i was greeted w attention & care by annies host/mngr jasmine - she swiftly checked me in & guided me around property then escorted me to my spacious & incredible seaside view room , showed me all amenities inside rm then scheduled a prime location for a family reunion lunch . she was a huge asset during my 4 day stay , everyone @ annies treated me like family , wilma my server for 3 days went above & beyond in accommodating all my requests like i was a long time friend , thank you both for making this trip a fulfilling / relaxing experience., will be back ! read more

Terrible service Waitress meaning two Waitresses were extremely rude, do not follow our request, a complete mess even argued with us. When one of them was bringing our food out of kitchen she left it unattended and flies where flying all over it. Finally we where fed up with the situation my wife food was out about 1 hour 20 minutes after we arrived, we told the waitress we didn't wanted, she came back with another waitress and said we had to take the food and pay for it. I am Puertorrican an i am used to poor customer service but this was too much. At least when i talk to the Manager she understood and agreed with us en not with the rude waitresses. read more

Looooved this place. I ordered the yuca mofongo - O.M.G.! It was DELICIOUS!!! I wish I knew how to make it myself! It was so flavorful and filling! I had a parcha (passion fruit) mojito with it. As an appetizer we had tostones rellenos con camarones, also very tasty! My boyfriend had the arroz con pollo with fries which was really filling. We ended up taking some rice back with us but unfortunately forgot it in the car that night and ended up leaving it to stray animals. Those animals sure had a yummy meal! My boyfriend also got a bucket of 5 medallas for $10! My one mojito was strong, I didn't need another drink. The service was good. All our food was amazing. The churrasco was cooked perfectly medium the asopao de pollo and mofongo were equally amazing and they served pretty quickly considering we came during prime Time. Spectacular setting. Service was lovely and double checked with the kitchen to ensure the food was safe for my son with a peanut allergy (most PR cuisine is safe). I read a review where the reviewer was upset because the menu was only in Spanish. That seems very toddler to me, but I digress. Doesn't everyone have a phone that can translate??? Food was fantastic. The grouper dumplings (in English for that toddler) were fantastic. Highly recommend! read more

This place has gorgeous views of the beach. Unfortunately be prepared to wait over an hour for food. The pana tostones were delicious. My son loved his rice and beans. My husband's cheeseburger was overdone and cold by the time the food came. Mt waitress was not very helpful with dietary needs or checking on us very often. It seemed like the staff was sitting around making drinks and looking nervious about the wait. Definitely more of a tourist spot with an amazing view. The place is very nice and clean. read more

DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR TIME. We came by on a Wednesday afternoon to enjoy the beach (or so we hoped) after grabbing a bite. Well let's just say we didn't get to enjoy the beach, although the location is fantastic the service and timing are absolutely terrible. We ordered an appetizer and an arroz de mariscos to share (one dish!) and it was 1 hour and 27 min before we got our food, with no sharing plates or apologies. Our waitress didn't come by our table, not even once, after we put our order in; even after calling her, she sent the bus girl instead. The rice was just okay nothing special and definitely didn't have lobster as advertised. The cocktails were not great either. Do yourself a favor and don't be tempered by the great location and colorful facade, don't waste your time or money. read more

Service and food quality has gone out with the tide. Took two hours to get a subpar meal. Asked the server to get it to go because of the numerous bugs and they couldn't even get that. Forgot to put in our drink order, and cooked a burger McDonalds would have rejected. Servers were dancing around and not paying attention to the numerous tables getting irritated. Restaurant is supposed to open at 10am. It is past 11 and it is still closed. We were told 10-15 min 20 minutes. Once the restaurant finally opened they tell is that they have to see what options on the menu are available as they are short staffed. For now all they can give us are drinks. El restaurante abre a las 10 de la mañana. Son después de las once y todavía no abre el restaurante. Preguntamos y dijeron dentro de 10-15 minutos. Ya van mas de 20 minutos. Great Location, Good Vibe, Good Seating. I just thought they were overpriced. The food was fine but not outstanding. So many fried foods, but it must be their market, they seem to be thriving. Annie's is at a beautiful spot on the beach and the drinks and fairly priced. Many places in Puerto Rico are slow, food can often take 30-45 minutes to be brought to tables- the experience is leisurely and unforced. Annie's, though, takes this Caribbean principle to another level! A full hour and forty-five minutes passed before our food was served (this might be a new record in El Combate). In addition to the award-winning length of our dinner at Annie's, the service was rough. In the time we sat at our table we spoke to 3 different individuals, but were checked on only once in the 1.75 hour time we sat with no food. Two in our party ordered the fried pork chucks and onions, overcooked to the point that the meat was as tough as a dog toy. Fries were cold and soggy, too. Otherwise unremarkable, if you find yourself at Annie's order the stuffed breast- something worth eating at a place that isn't worth visiting. Plus, as a bonus you'll meet the bouncer(?) for the restaurant. He carries his gun on right hip, which is unusual for a family restaurant! Very impressive? We waited for our food for more than 1 1/2 hrs , during that time nobody came to ask if we were ok, after the hour my husband got his plate, mine took like 20 more minutes, the flavor was not worth the wait, so in conclusion, if you known puertorican food you will end disappointed. Yesterday December 28 was our last night in Cabo Rojo. After having spent a spectacular afternoon at Combate Beach, with excruciating hunger, we decided to eat dinner at Annies Place in Combat. Understanding that the pandemic has caused damage to the country's economy, we chose to dine there for the convenience of the place. After waiting an hour and a half for us to sit down, we managed to get a table for three people. It took them approximately 45 minutes to come to our table to take the order of appetizers. Not satisfied with that, in that waiting time we try three margaritas. A complete fiasco. To make margaritas with lemon juice without taking into account that the lemons in Puerto Rico are not the appropriate ones to make margaritas. At the time of taking the order we were specific in what we wanted .. It took about an hour and a half to deliver the food. At first my companions received their food cold and tasteless. The fish looks like it was not fresh as it smelled like the fish was expired. We ordered white rice and pink beans as a contour. Completely uncooked rice. In short, a complete disaster. We decided to ask the waitress to call the manager of the restaurant to give them constructive criticism about the experience, letting her know that it was not the first time we visited the place since every three years when we come together we visit the place. We enter being aware that they always take time to serve. But the food was delivered after an hour and a half of waiting, Cold and raw is disconcerting. We explain to the manager our experience. She didn't even take responsibility for the mismanagement of the cooks and the kitchen and didn't offer any apologies or anything complementary. Only the waitress on her own account made the decision to offer us the dessert free of cost. It is not a question of money and much less of taking advantage of the restaurant for free. This administration of this restaurant gives much to be desired, the service is terrible, the food of very low quality in a restaurant that has been serving the Cabo Rojo community and the entire Puerto Rico for more than 50 years. @Annies Place gives much to be desired in terms of customer services and in terms of its popular gastronomic offer, I can tell you that it is the last time we visited the place and obviously we do not recommend the consumption of alcoholic beverages, much less a kitchen where the quality is conspicuous by its absence. And believe me when I tell you that I am a full-blooded caborrojeño and it is a completely disastrous experience for both my colleagues and I. They put the gastronomic offer to shame not only in Cabo Rojo but also in the area known as Puerta del Sol. A shame, because initially we had planned to return to the aid area to remember our first visit 15 years ago. The positive part of our experience is that all of us as consumers have the freedom to choose places with better quality of service and gastronomy. As for me personally, I will not use or patronize this place again. read more

Really awesome restaurant with a great location/view of the beach. The speed of the service was pretty standard for PR, but the staff were all really friendly. If you're a fan of ceviche, GET THE CEVICHE DE DORADO. Ceviche is one of my favorite meals and this was hands down the best I've ever had Can't wait to head back for more. read more

Beach beach beach! Holy beach balls!!! This restaurant lays in between white sand, powdery shore and clear, calm turquoise water. The waves literally crash onto the restaurant walls. I'm from a tiny pacific island so I can prematurely say that this perfect combination is a rarity and only exists on private beach homes. Once you enter you are nicely greeted and given the option of what available table you'd prefer. Typical tourist, I sat closest to the shore for the IG pics. Several obnoxious pictures later, I ordered the passion fruit mojito and the lobster in garlic sauce. The drink was too strong and lacked fresh fruit; it tasted like a cheap bar drink 20 yr old me would erase the night with. The lobster arrived and OMG, it was: fresh, moist, and magical. It was 7oz for less than $23. Even though I asked for it in garlic sauce, in Puerto Rico - garlic sauce kind of just means adding garlic to the typical red creole sauce that the island loves so much. Food blew my mind that I went back the next day but asked the waiter for his recommendation. He said to get the skirt steak pasta Alfredo. I was hesitant at first to order pasta at a beach in the middle of the Caribbean. But I surprisingly obeyed and asked for the steak to be medium rare. It arrived steaming hot with loads of parmesan cheese and steak. The most plentiful, flavorful steak I've ever seen on pasta and for just $14 it was a huge enough bowl for two. To get ready for my all day beachin, I ordered a pina colada and the regular mojito. The pina colada was better than average but not enough to write mom about. The mojito was bleh once again. The service was great and the ambiance was picturesque. This place is a madhouse on the weekends so try to avoid it unless you want the loudness, beach fiesta vibe and strong drinks. Ive only been to PR once, and this was the first place i came to and the first beach I experienced. I absolutely fell in love with this place. its right on the water, with amazing views, its basically fully outdoors. You can enjoy the views, a small breeze from the water and even a glimpse at some of the wildlife (lizards and fish and birds) that come by. The drinks are damn cheap and the food was awesome too. I basically had every type of empanada there (seafood and cheese wise) and they were perfect. We had a few other bar types of snacks (can't remember what cuz i was drunk) but they were good. The service was a bit slow, we came on a Friday afternoon and it was empty but oh well. They have happy hour...also the funniest thing ever ( i came with two puerto rican friends, myself and my whitest of white boyfriends), --the waitress named us "Mesa GRINGOS". it made sense since only one of us spoke spanish fluently. The food was really good! Location is one of the best, right on the water. You can find a nice spot on Combate beach then go back and forth for a drink or two, or three or four. My only suggestion is that they improve service. We ordered our food, and it took a good 45 mins for the food and drinks to come out. Some of us (party of 4) were served and some were not. The staff was just standing around chatting while other people got served before us that arrived after. That is one of my pet peeves. After much research, this place stuck out as popular and a staple in combate and we were very excited and knew we had to come here. The place is very nice, and the view is amazing from its location on the shore. People comment about wait time, but it's expected this is an island , it's a more relaxed pace so expect a wait anywhere you go. The place was busy, the staff was friendly, the restaurant itself is beautiful but the food/cooks/recipes at this place need to be improved. I'm sorry to leave a negative review. It does not come easy, as a business owner myself. Im not from PR, I never had Mofongo before coming to PR, but during our week long stay, first 4 days in San Juan and last 3 days in Combate and eating mofongo everyday while I was here, this was the worst FOOD we had our whole time. My wife got a shrimp dish and I got mofongo with seafood. I love seafood. We didn't even finish our meals, and I just left my leftovers I didn't want it for later which is not like me.
