Stayed here for 5 nights. This place could definitely use some improvements.
PROS: -Tucked away from the main street, but nearby enough to visit the La Parguera festivities. (A 2-3 minute drive) However, If you want to stay somewhere located on the main strip, this spot is not for you.
-Islandy feel, very quiet location. Love that they recycle and are eco friendly.
-Great customer service. Staff was accomodating and friendly. Alex went above and beyond to help us with our reservation. I booked here through a third party (booking.com) and he called them to assist with upgrading us.
-Great ambiance in the main sitting area. Heated pool changes colors, there are hammocks galore, and an onsite bar.
-Dinner was DELICIOUS. Alex made us some super good stuff. Mofongo stuffed with churasco and a quesadilla. Que rico!
Breakfast was hit or miss. First morning was super yummy, (I got pancakes, husband got french toast)
Second morning I got the breakfast sandwich, it was not that great. Typical Puerto Rican bakeries melt the cheese and don't put lettuce in egg sandwiches. Breakfast is overpriced. Go to the bakery in downtown La Parguera (M&M's) for a better breakfast sandwich that only costs $3.50. Much more bang for the buck.
CONS- Mosquitoes, Mosquitoes MOSQUITOES! Come prepared with off bug spray, flying insect spray, and a bug candle. We sprayed our room every night before we went to bed. Without mosquito repellent you will get eaten alive while asleep. No bueno. Those Mosquitoes are sneaky.
-Uncomfortable, hard bed. The bed may be sufficient for a one or two night stay, but after the third night sleeping on an unforgiving rock was nearly impossible. Just couldn't get comfortable. We were pretty pooped when we checked out.
-Paper thin sheets that were worn through in places. Ripped pillow case. Huge holes in the paper mattress cover. We're talking straight RIPPED with random stains on the side of it. Totally gross. Sheets are so thin was able to see and feel the holes through the sheets. Asked housekeeping to place a new mattress cover. Who knows how long that nasty sucker was used on the bed overlooked by housekeeping. Ewww.
They definitely need to upgrade the linens.
-TINY rooms. We're talking micro. Teeny plastic shower stall. The first room we were checked into was a tiny one located on the second floor facing the pool. Floors were very dark, which made the room seem even smaller, almost clausterphobic. Closet was non-existent. We upgraded to a larger queen room because the tiny room wouldn't have accomodated us and our stuff for 5 nights.
-For those of you planning to stay more than 1-2 nights, there is no fridge in the room. They also do not provide a cooler to use on the beach. Booo!
FYI:
-Pool towels are only provided upon request. Hair dryers must also be requested.
-Public restroom toilet paper dispenser in the bathroom. It was awkwardly placed on the wall behind the toilet. Gives the feeling of using a public restroom in your hotel room. Toilet paper was low quality, we ended up buying our own rolls to use.
Overall this place wasn't the most comfortable stay for us, but it served it's purpose. It's overpriced for what it is, which is really a low budget motel. Our modern Airbnb in Luquillo was much much MUCH nicer and about the same price per night as La Jamaca. read more
